I think it's great that the owner agreed to let you visit and film his/her trees. It's always good to see other hobbiests collections as it can give ideas regarding display /layout etc. It's a shame that some folk can't just enjoy and be inspired instead of reverting to the usual comments about money or not being styled from scratch by the owner. Well neither have the prize winning bonsai in Japan! This collection is immaculate, it's obvious that the owner takes excellent care of this collection.
I think everyone is entitled to their opinion and you are right it's not about money, I couldn't care less how much other people spend on their hobbies, some people spend millions of dollars on car collections.. they don't build them from scratch. I was merely pointing out the part of bonsai I enjoy is the creation as well as the ownership and display. Everyone finds different enjoyment from hobbies, some like to enter competitions and go to clubs, some people like to just do it for their own personal enjoyment. No right or wrong in this hobby.
what you gotta love about Bonsai is going from nothing to insane in a short period of time lmao ... got a museum quality collection in the backyard now, respect
Wow beautiful collection. I’ve read many opinions and comments about the collection. Everyone’s Bonsai journey is different. Some take joy in growing and propagating. To watch the development through different stages, also accepting some plants may take many, many years before we can call them Bonsai. Some buy advanced trees which they develop such as this collection. I’m happy to see trees well looked after that can be passed onto others when the day comes. Best of luck and enjoy your journey.
Wow zone tree bonsai design new friend enjoy in the warking garden pirates buy different picture in house just as well natural in house and people love natural see large very happy 🥰🥰ozone
This is a difficult one . Lot,s of comments pro and anti . This person ..guy ..girl ..whatever has obviously thrown a LOT of wedge at this collection . In a short space of time . BUT if you could , would we all not do something similar ( I particularly like the pines ) . Six years in bonsai terms is a short time . I really hope this person sticks with it and truly forms a bond with these lovely trees . Good luck that person . Live long and prosper . And anyway .. at least Mr Tomlinson,s holliday is payed for . Which is nice .
Your opening quote was very interesting; ‘He’s been doing bonsai for about 4-5 years!’. He has in fact done nothing more than to purchase specimen trees from Greenwood Bonsai! Make sure to keep him happy, you certainly wouldn’t want to lose his custom. Beautiful trees nonetheless. 👍😎
That's not entirely true, He has watered, fed, trimmed, nurtured, re-potted and thoroughly wired most of these trees, improving many greatly whilst in his care. Most probably doing more bonsai work than many other enthusiasts do in a much longer time span.
Yes, the owner has put his all into assembling this collection. 99% of work he does himself, styling, trimming and wiring. He's naturally good at looking after trees like this. Definitely addicted, as we all are !
Absolutely no criticism of the owner of the trees, part of the journey I've had with bonsai over the last 35 years has been growing bonsai from saplings, developing raw material, building bonsai from stumps, primary and secondary branching, refinement. I've lost some trees over the years. I've built some nice trees and that journey of learning and developing skills has been part of the enjoyment. To buy lots of very refined specimen trees is amazing if you can afford it and I have in the past bought refined specimen but for me I didn't have any involvement in making that tree what it is, it was purchased off a bench completed by someone else. As I say, no criticism here just saying the part of bonsai I enjoy is the developing and styling and building something from nothing.
This sure sounds like a pure cope post lol ... everyone is on their own journey, takes a while to figure out what kind of hobbyist are you - a propagator, maintainer, starter, finsher ect. Some people merely can't feel anything unless the stakes are high. Probably best for you to worry about your finances and not somebody else's lmao
I would certainly agree the trees in my collection I like the most and have most feeling for are the ones I've created and nurtured. I don't think anyone here is envious in any way. I'd still rather have my trees than theirs despite their value.
To be brutally honest all that this shows is that money is no object for the owner of this collection. Corin has and always does a great job but bonsai should be about the pleasure of creating and caring for YOUR OWN bonsai. Anyone with money can have a collection like this and employ a professional to care for them. I personally love my bonsai "sticks in pots" and I'm quite proud that I have nurtured them to become what they are. Sorry for being negative but that's just how this video came across to me.
You’re spot on, I was going to have a classic car collection but I’ve decided to buy a load of aluminium sheet and make them myself otherwise it’d be cheating 😂
Where your comment falls down is that you're confusing what bonsai is for you and what "bonsai should be". You can't dictate what the hobby is for others. Whilst I would get no personal satisfaction in throwing a load of money at already established trees just because I could, doesn't mean that I would ever suggest that others shouldn't do that if they can.
It’s an amazing bonsai collection, but it appears that this person has an insane amount of money and doesn’t know or want to know the intricacies of bonsai and would rather pay for corin to come any trim his or her trees😞
Actually they did a lot of work on the trees themselves day to day. But having a bonsai collection like this is like having a collection of classic cars, you’d get a specialist to maintain them and do any work needed to keep them in tip top condition.

That is one very impressive Bonsai collection thank you for allowing Corin and his team to share it with us!
Is it just me who feels that sense of relief when he finally takes off that bit that’s annoying you?
That’s amazing! (though I was secretly hoping that there was also a scruffy corner with some WIP trees in washing up bowls and buckets 😂 )
What a fantastic tree you are working on 😎Dennis

It’s fantastic watching you work on someone else’s trees especially when there as beautiful as these 😜
Wow, wonderful collection and all it takes is a shed load of money.
But also still requires daily dedication and care.
And the services of a bonsai master.

WOW, for a person who only got into bonsai 5 years ago, what an impressive collection of trees, another addict I think. Great work Corin!

Wow, only been doing bonsai 5 years, what's that saying? go big or go home... he did both! impressive collection.
It says go very deep in your pocket 😅
Incredible

@@ChefBonsaidemic I have no idea what you are on about.

Some people are art creators whilst others are art collectors. Personally, I prefer to create. Far more rewarding. I'm with you Dan
@@Rockin23 Thanks 🙂 I think you summed it up perfectly. I prefer to create too! 👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, what can you say.
The owner of that collection must have very deep pockets indeed
Some serious trees in this wonderful collection! :-)
👍👌👌🙂

Hmm, living art ... requires maintenance. Beautiful collection acquired from a true artist.
