  • Coheed and Cambria performing Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow) live from the Neverender: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 tour at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA on September 6, 2014. Due to the extreme amount of pain and discomfort I endured throughout the entirety of this show from the shitcunts moshing/shoving behind me, there are some shaky parts and a lack of closeup shots. I spent most of the show simply trying to survive and not be thrown forward over the wall, which almost happened several times. This was shot with a Sony Cyber-shot HX50V.

i wish i was in your position and you were in the pit. it was really lame down there. nobody was moving. i always wondered why people who want to watch dont buy tickets in the balcony.

Everyone in the pit was enjoying the show and singing along, (mostly) being respectful of each other. Unlike the people behind me that were being complete cuntbags and shoving. I am STILL sore from being assaulted. I don't understand why people that go to a show think that their method of fun (moshing/pushing) is more important that everyone else's enjoyment. Some people think standing in place is "lame" but at least that's being respectful of everyone around you. Everyone paid to be there and enjoy the show, everyone should be allowed to enjoy the show without being pushed, knocked over, elbowed, forced into a wall, pushed over a wall, etc.

TheRealConcertKing fair enough. i dont ever WANT to be that guy, but sadly i am sure i have been on some occasions. maybe the wall thing is worse than just more bodies in front of you to cushion. I think that the wiltern is just not my type of venue. I saw them there last year and was in the second level. I wanted to desperately wanted to be in the pit because i thought people would be more "into" it. sadly i was wrong. not in a bad way, but my vision of fans at a coheed show is slightly warped, as my preference for shows is obviously more aggressive and exhausting in nature. I know how I enjoy shows, and would LIKE to enjoy a coheed show, but everyone is not the same. I did tone it down since i hate being the guy trying to start stuff like that. moshing is one thing, i can take it or leave it, but i was surprised by what little crowdsurfing there was. yeah i was the guy in this video (only time all night, i had to at least once lol). but let me ask you, just to get a different perspective: whats worse to you, moshing around you or crowdsurfing?

***** All of it can be invasive and strongly detract from an experience for a lot of people. I don't go to a show to constantly be looking behind me to see if somebody is going to land on my head, I go to watch the band on the stage. The concept of crowdsurfing is asinine to me. Everyone is looking in one direction, and you're going to throw yourself from the opposite direction onto their heads and necks. I've been injured by having people landing on my head at shows, and kicked in the head/face more than I can count. I typically avoid being in areas where that would occur so it hasn't happened in a while (the same for moshing, too..except at this show it came to me). At some shows where I kept getting kicked in the head over and over again, sometimes by the same people, I would step out of the way if I saw someone flying towards me, or even pull them down. I go to watch the show, not to be assaulted or have to take time away from paying attention to the band to hold up someone .

TheRealConcertKing understandable. i used to hate anything like that. i remember saying "i go to the show to WATCH the band, not to go crazy". i dont know what changed for me. I guess i started getting into different types of music. and perhaps my newly formed habits dont translate well into other venues/genres. whenever people do stuff like that i doubt they are in it to actually hurt someone else (at least I dont) i guess i see it now as a different way to "get into" the music, to really connect with not only the band but (in a weird way) the other fans. (helping each other out if someone falls in the pit or not letting someone fall if they are surfing) yeah it sucks when someone hits you in the head, it happens to everyone, but i guess i get past it because i know i might do the same. (when i type that out it sounds really bad haha). in a smaller venue this might be a more acceptable thing. I am not saying that everyone should do stuff like that and that everyone should be okay with it. i am just trying to explain why I do it. I love seeing you videos of concerts I go to and i guess if everyone were like me then they might not be around. keep doing what youre doing and I hope there arent too many more bad experiences like that again.

TheRealConcertKing on a side note why i find it werid that at coheed shows not a lot of people are moshing / surfing: coheed is (in my opinion) very "heavy" in nature. there are a lot of metal influences in a lot of songs, and i have seen bands that are not nearly as heavy and aggressive as coheed is and yet those kinds of activites are accepted. maybe coheed fans are way more mature than i expected. which is good and i just have to change my attitude towards it. but hey, i love coheed and (for now) that is how i "get the lead out" and really get into it. im sure i will laugh at myself for being this way in a few years.
