Cracking line up. Original paint fizzy looks lovely. That RSW is something else... Love those white tyres.

Hi Adrian thanks for viewing, I've just aquired a new project but sadly it's not quick silver 🥈 but at least it's another really early one in fantastic condition. Good luck with finishing the bike cheers 🥂

I’m 51 now but when I look back at these bikes from yesteryear, it’s like looking back through a time capsule, reliving your childhood all over again. All those bikes I remember seeing on my housing estate back in Bethnal Green. I never did have a Raleigh Chopper, Grifter, Striker or Boxer but I did have a Raleigh Chopper lookalike and some BMX’s. Although, I did have those bulky Ever ready lights which had large batteries from what I remember. 😂 And sometimes they did leak battery acid when they corroded. 😂 Not sure if you can buy those vintage batteries today Paul? Also, it just shows you how much technology has progressed, with todays bike lights using powerful LED’s which use watch batteries or USB. The fizzy lemon is my favourite colour on the Raleigh Chopper.

Hi mate thanks for the comment and yes you can still buy those batterys, back in the day I remember them lights well they were quite useless compared to what you can get today lol 😂 I used to live on a council estate in Romford when I was growing up really good times when you didn't have to worry about getting stabbed etc and everyone had Grifters no choppers about. Cheers for viewing and new vid out soon, exciting new project.

Such an amazing collection of the most memorable "Retro" bikes for me. I was never lucky enough to ever be gifted a bike all through my childhood and early teens but as i got a bit older i used to find (dumped in a local parks compound) the odd Raleigh BMX's and i was lucky enough one day to find a Grifter that had been put in the park's/compound, the gaffer of the park's/compound was fine when i'd see a bike and asked him could i have it to take home and repair). I spent months of my little p/t job (helping the local milkman deliver to customers Mon to Sat for a £1 a morning wages) which i managed to do a restore on the Grifter bike. Did have a few school friends who had Grifters and Choppers. Such happy memories though. Thank you for sharing your video, Paul.

Hi mate thanks for the comment, yes I myself was never gifted a bike 🚲 either I had 2 jobs when I was 13-14, being brought up on a council estate we were poor and everything I wanted I had to work for even back then. Bought my first Grifter for £20 secondhand and loved it never had a chopper because every kid on the estate had Grifters, was so proud when I got it was a red one also had a blue one later great days good times, still think the Grifter is better than the Chopper easily lol 😂 please subscribe if not done allready if this sort of thing interests you cheers 🥂

Hey Paul bro ! Awesome RSW 14.. my cousin Roz had one of those and she had a basket on the back that she put all the shopping in when we went down the village store for my Uncle.. I was on a Raleigh Chico ! The Grifters look amazing !! My schoolmate Rod had one of them and I, as you know, had the Fizzy !! ..happy days !! I just love the old classic torch head and tail lamps that you have on the bikes.. I can even remember the sound the switches made as they were turned off and on.. superb !!
Still the Fizzy Lemon (was the Infra) is my favourite bike in the collection !! ..wonderful !! Ha ha ! ..I was never a great fan of the purple (5 speed ?!?) Choppers either !! lol.. my mate Mark had one and I was jealous of the extra gears !! lol

What a great collection, not a bad bike amongst that lot. ❤ My wife's phone used to overheat, we tried everything but it got worse & worse. We had insurance on it to get a free repair but it was only a few months before her contract ended so she paid a few quid and got a new phone early.

Hi Phil thanks for that, that wasn't the only problem I had lol 😂 before the overheating issue I was about halfway through and next doors little brat started his quad bike up so by the time I was done it was take 3.... Action lol 😂. Have just bought another project project real early mk2 and I think your going to like it..... Cheers 🍻

@paulmartin4971 I put my Tuff Burner and mk2 Grifter up for sale two weeks ago as I'm running out of space in the garage and when all said & done these old kids bikes are just ornaments. Luckily I had no bites on the Burner and the bloke for the Grifter went awol so I marked them as sold and now I'm keeping them. 😅 If I mention selling them again can someone give me a good talking to. 😉

I was 9 in years old in 1974, my mum and dad took me to see the Christmas lights in Sheffield on a Saturday late afternoon. We was walking back to pond street to catch the bus home when they said shall we pop into Halfords to have a look around and o my god the bike I dreamed about. A red Raleigh chopper stood there in the window for the exceptional price of £34:95. I thought it was expensive, the salesman let me sit on it and my heart fluttered. Mum and dad said maybe next year, I was ok with that. However, Christmas morning 1974 I ran down stairs and there it was in the living room, I think I just stood staring at it for hours before I took it out for a ride. There wasn’t a day go by where I wasn’t on that bike. This was the best day of my life, me, mom, dad and my brand new red raleigh chopper. Both parents have past now and I’m 59 soon. Thank you for my trip down memory lane.
O and Thank you mum and dad.
