@@edmander1962 The second track "Endlessly Falling" is a song we wrote 40 odd years ago... Hardly a progression. I do like the first track though. Fair play... David. X
Gen Z Chameleons fan here, speaking without any nostalgia goggles on…even if this isn’t Script of the Bridge or Strange Times, this is still REALLY good, and I’d say I’m happy with it… if they get a little more atmospheric and dark and add unique subtle synth parts to the background they can get there again… it reminds me of if What Does Anything Mean Basically and Strange Times had a baby, with What Does Anything Mean’s relatively upbeat tone and Strange Times’ more driving rock
Just saw them last night even though I didn't know their music. I may have heard Tears or Swamp a time or two but that was it. I am now a fan due to their interesting sonic approach. They sounded great!
Currently thinking abt how this song is prolly abt that new gf he kept mentioning he found the last few concerts I've been to, and that's just so sweet to me after listening to the lyrics, he really does love her it seems ❤
This seems to be Chameleon's first attempt at something more poppy and commercial and it's really quite good on it's own and because it's them!!! Heard it at their show 7June24Sacto. Fan since 1986.
Unfortunately a song, that noone really needs, it´s not worth to hear twice, so sad it feels to say it... We are connected to this special magic feeling with their older tunes from our past, when we were young and felt, that this is a very special band with a special magic sound, that we´ll never forget...
But why would it be? Why would you want it to be? People have such trouble holding bands to their old standards. It's ridiculous. The song is really good. Of course it isn't like their older stuff.
Track two "Endlessly Falling "is a very old Chameleons song. So they aren't really doing anything much different. I like the guitar riff and am glad they are writing new material... Best wishes. David. As long as you enjoy it then they have done a good job. X
Very average. It definitely falls short of their early material. This sounds so common and plain compared to the otherworldly ethereal dreaminess of their signature sound.
@@thesoundlikechameleons2082 Well, some smaller parts of the new song reminds me definitely of the old Chameleons. Times changes and no one on earth is able to transport the special feeling of the 80`s into present, not even Mark Burgess - after 40 years. That may be a pity, but the fascination of the 80`s may result especially from the fact, that they are past and gone and no one is able to bring them back...
@Borussenherb It's throwaway material, after a few months it will be in a bargain basket IF they still exist! Their finest material was Script of the bridge (1983) What does anything mean? basically (1985) EVERYTHING after just became weaker.
the middle keyboard bit and the guitar outdo gave me the shivers, like being 18 again and walking home with Script on the Walkman.
A really welcome return from one of the greatest bands.
That guitarloop towards the end should come more often. That something special the Chameleons always had.
Agreed. At the start.
A nice nod to their distant past. They are moving forward.
Fair enough. But to me that guitar-line ist a highlight of the track hidden at the end.
@@RichardDieterichnot about what you put in but what you leave out ; )

My girl is taking me tomorrow. I've never heard them but looking fwd.
This is under the radar - amazing news about the album!
The evolution of this from the old stuff reminds me of the evolution of the Buzzcocks from their old to new after taking a break
I love it.
Outstanding!
Played this live at the Old woollen a few weeks ago absolutely brilliant love it 👍
Chameleons are Great I've been into theez since 84
They played this in Pasay City, Philippines the other night (21 Nov 2024). Great bands like them rarely visit our part of the world. We were lucky.
Love Dannys keyboards starting at 2:10.
They opened their set with this at Leeds a couple of weeks ago & blew the roof off the place.
The synth textures sound like something straight off of What Does Anything Mean? Basically.
If that's a taster for the new album, then I'm fully on board. Very nice!
I got to see them play this live a couple days ago! They were fantastic!
...love you so long....part of my life..thx 🖤
Вот уж не думал, что дождусь нового альбома этой замечательной группы!) Рад, что Марк и компания ещё в строю! 🤘
At 2:10 The song becomes epic !
Die sind immer noch da. ❤
Absolutely fantastic ❤️
Well worth waiting for!
It makes me so happy to hear a new Chameleons song.

Mark looking pretty buff in Bristol tonight I thought, crikey!
Great gig but early start and done by 9.30ish was unexpected!

Brilliant - great development of Reg and Mark’s songwriting.

David Bowie vibes at times here.
Super re.ok
A reminder that disliking something from Metropolis is a sign of a defect.
I'm comment 67!
Sorry, I had to do it...
This sounds like Pixies. I miss their other, deeply emotional sound
Hope you guys are enjoying making music tho!

Nowhere near their early material.
Yeah. I feel the same way. It lost the gloomy, ethereal dreaminess that they possessed in the 1980s.
So 40 give er take years ago...
But why would it be? Why would you want it to be?

True. But the current lineup is missing 1/2 of the Chameleons' original guitar sound, so one can't expect too much there. RIP John Lever.
Sorry Mark, completely boring
average chart fodder.

@@pathogensmusick Missing the magic touch of David Fielding, that is why.
