Support for the Cuban people is the most common and easiest. You can literally get it at the airport before you depart from MIA or Ft. Lauderdale. As a Havana Cigar Connoisseur I go to Cuba often. The Cuban people are some of the most amazing, friendly and resilient people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. As you guys know from traveling around the world in the end, where all people there are friendly and amazing people everywhere you go. This was a phenomenal video. I highly recommend that all U.S. citizens watch this video before going to Cuba. The Cuban people love Americans. The issue isn’t between people. It’s between Governments. @DerwinDaDestroyer I love exploring Havana Vieja and mingling with the locals. Depends totally on how long you're in Cuba. The Art Factory F.A.C is a favorite.
Great summary, well presented! You guys did your homework. Just a few extra things here: I'm an American living in Austria with a keen interest in all things Cuba. I have been going 3 or 4 times a year for 20 years (except during the worst of Coronavirus). 1). Toursit Card: To begin with, this "Visa" is really more of a tax (Cuba never denies anybody this "Visa"). They call it a 'Tourist Card" and Cuba seems to sell it, in bulk, to various approved agencies around the world that, in turn, can charge whatever they want. This "Visa" was only $25 for many years and now can be well over $100. I buy mine for 50 Euros at a local Vienna travel agency. What's important is that you MUST have this visa before you even board your final connection to Cuba (the airlines will demand to see it). Also, be careful when filling this out this Visa since the Cuban Aduanas (Cuban Passport Control Agents) do not much like things that are crossed out and rewritten. Finally: KEEP YOUR HALF OF THIS VISA WITH YOU UNTIL YOU LEAVE CUBA! The Aduanas (Passport Control Agents will demand to see it upon your exit. 2). This other required document is called "D'Viajeros" and can be filled out online easily and is free. I believe you can fill this out 48 hours ahead of time (some have claimed you can do it even earlier). It is supposed to make your entry into Cuba faster and easier... but as you will soon find out, nothing in Cuba is fast or easy, regardless. You can show this on your phone but I always print it out. The Cubans always seem happier with the printed form. 3). Health Insurance: I have never once been asked for proof of insurance...but I'm always ready to. 4). The Taxies leaving Jose Marti Airport (Havana) and the Varadero Airport will gladly take US Dollars or Euros from you, so try to have smaller bills (no coins). From Jose Marti Airport you should not have to pay more than $25 but that is not to say they will not try to get more out of you. I personally don't quibble with them if they demand $30 or less. You might also ask a fellow traveller if they'd like to share a taxi. If you're going to a similar area you can share the cost. Also, never let a taxi driver try to take your small back pack (with your money, wallet, cellphone and passport) and throw it into the trunk with the big bags. Over the years, a few of them seemed quite intense about this but I have never bothered to find out why. I will then just take a different taxi. The trunk itself often has a film of motor oil on it as well, which you might not see if you land at night. 5). There are money-exchange services at the airport. The current official state rate is about 120 Pesos for every dollar. They have or had an ATM machine which now exchanges money which...I have never trusted enough to use. Try to do the math before you approach the window to exchange money. With jet-lag, it can be quite confusing if you try to change several hundred dollars at once. 6). The Black Market: While technically illegal, nearly everyone in Cuba uses it...especially for money exchange. Usually, not always, the best person to ask about this will be the owner of your Casa Particualr. Be discreet, do not ask about his if there are other people hanging about. The current unofficial (Black Market) rate is (as of June 5th, 203) 203 Pesos for every Euro …and 195 for evert USD dollar. Remember, the price of restaurants and such are pegged to the unofficial rate. So, it all adds up quickly. Your Casa Particular owner, by the way, will usually appreciate if you pay in dollars or euros. The Peso is, increasingly worthless. Note: I noticed on my last trip there (January 2nd), that the state owned cafes and restaurant were now demanding credit-cards over any cash. If you're an American...your credit cards will NOT work there anyway. I find the quality of most state-owned restaurants and cafes to be poor quality anyway. 7). Jineteros: Pronounced "Hee-neh-terro". Jinetero means "Jockey" in Spanish...only in this case, they ride the tourists. This small army of Cubans will try to sell you something every 5 minutes. They will ask you for the time and then, "Where joo frohm?", hoping to start a conversation. 98% of every Cuban who approaches you will be a Jinetero. Mostly harmless, they are nevertheless intense. Be firm. Do not engage them. They are not your friends. Good luck! Have fun!

Hi guys! Great and very useful video! I have two questions for you.. 🙂 1) In the D’VIAJEROS form among the reasons of travel there are just: Resident, Tourism, Transhipment, Transit, visit or work. If you put in general license “Support to Cuban people”, which reason did you choose in the D’VIAJEROS? Maybe also @carlesiasmith1203 asked it but I didn’t see your reply. 2) after that at the “Cuba Ready” booth you chose “support for cuban people”, did they asked your for a detailed itinerary? I mean, with address and the booking of places where you will stay, the booking for example of the cooking class that you booked, etc. Thank you guys !!❤
Thank you for your questions! In the D'VIAJEROS form, we chose "Support to Cuban people" as the reason for our travel. As for the "Cuba Ready" booth, they just gave us the visa after we paid for it. Nobody asked us for a detailed itinerary. Hope this helps!

Fellow New Yorkers…let’s go!!!!❤
YESSS!! thanks for the continued support. Would you visit Cuba?
Nice..but not having phone service once you land is crazy. You definitely should clarify exactly why ,how long and options. I would never feel comfortable!
I completely understand your concerns! It's definitely important to have clear information about phone service options, especially when traveling. We ave a ton of more details in our travel guide!
Thanks guys!! Great vid
Thank you!
This video was sooo helpful! Love how you broke down each step and the different visa pricing options. I can't wait to watch the vlog!

Thank you great informational content 👊🏽
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much 👍🏼.
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate your support.
Awesome info and video. You guys speak clearly. I am going to Cuba to assist in a mural art project. Where does that fall on the list of 12 reasons? Thanks.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support to our channel!! We are happy you found the video helpful! For the support of the Cuban People!
great video, thanks for sharing. to understand clearly, "to support the Cuban people" is a statement to the airline and not official paperwork to fill out with the us gov't ?
Thanks for watching. Yes, you are putting that on the forms for why you are going there. However, once you are there you are just another tourist. Nobody asked why I am there once I was there. I guess its just a formality.
So super helpful, thank you!
You're so welcome!
Awesome info. Thanks
Glad you found it helpful!
Bahamas to Cuba 272 at Christmas on Bahamas Air

I know that Americans have to keep documentation of everything they do just incaseyouget audited, do the local business owners have ways to give you receipts?
I did not receive them but I did not get any questioning about it either.
Great video, thank you. I thought going to Cuba would be much more difficult
Thank you so much for all the support! Yes I had the same sentiments but it is not that difficult anymore
Good looking out family
Glad you got something from this!
I just booked the flight ticket from United airline 😮I just wondering why I didn’t find any ticket from JetBlue and other u mentioned . My departure is New York . 😢
Thank you for watching my video and supporting our channel. I am not exactly sure but did you get a good price to Cuba?
Can you get a cell phone sim that is local to Cuba while in the country? Also you mentioned no WiFi, do you mean just in the airport there is not WiFi?
Yes you can get a local sim if your phone is unlocked. No a lot of places do not have wifi and if it has wifi you have to still use a wifi card to obtain it
Coming to this chat as year latter as I plan to do to Cuba lol. Did you go without unlocking your phone and getting a SIM card? Were you able to get around fine?
Also, I love the channel!!!
Excellent Information! Thank you!

For the support of the cuban people, it was no problem at all
Great video and simple to understand ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Hi how about bringing candy and some art supplies. at customs. is it a problem?
It's always a good idea to check customs regulations before traveling with food items and art supplies. I am not exactly sure!
New Subbie, enjoying the content and information, tfs

I have a friend in Hannah Cuba. Can I stay at her house? Will that count as supporting the people and how would I document it?
For the support of the cuban people haha
Maybe I missed it, but how did you book accommodations- on your own or through an agency? Agencies are horribly expensive
We did it all for ourselves you can check out our recommendations for everything on our explore cuba travel guide chewstoexplore.com/product/explore-cuba-travel-guide/

Hey Chew, I'm also from NY but I can't find cheap flights like you did on sky scanner. I want to travel in January solo. Any more tips on how to safe. I've got a budget of 1500 but i wanna make it cheaper
Thank you so mch for the support. Watch the airfare for a price drop then book it. It depends on when you want to fly
I'm about to plan a group for 24!!!

What month did yall go in and what was the temperature like ? Thank you
Thank you for your question! We went in October, and the weather was scorching-around 85-95°F. Hope that helps!
Did you enjoy it? Do you have a video of what you did?
Yes we absolutely did heres our video on it th-cam.com/video/9MM6X_c98tA/w-d-xo.html
@ChewsToExplore thanks so much!
Do i have to get a Support the Cuban people visa, or just tell the people that's the reason for travel if the ask
Just put it as the reason for travel. No one asked us why we are there when we visited
Thanks for this video. I am going in a few weeks and your channel has been helpful. Do you have esim phone if so how did you connect over there?
Thanks for checking out our video and supporting. Unfortunately we do not have a connect for it but we just didn't use our phones and only wifi.
Do you recommend bringing any paper copies of things you may need?
Yes it does not hurt to have those copies!
Hello im a Green Card holder I live in LA and going to cuba through Mexico from Monterrey on March . Where do they give us the declaration under oat for the support of cuban people category and rhey give us a copy of that gor our own records ? and also somoone told me I need to fill up a form name D' Viajeros on line or somthing like that 2 days before I go to Cuba . Is that right ? Thanks
Thank you so much for your question! I appreciate you reaching out. I would recommend going to the US/ Cuba site for the most up-to-date information
Great video. I'm not seeing the link to your airbnb. Am I missing something?
Thank you so much for the kind words and support. Glad that you enjoy it! we have over 30 recommendations for accommodations here chewstoexplore.com/product/explore-cuba-travel-guide/
Hi guys! Great and very useful video! I have two questions for you.. 🙂
1) In the D’VIAJEROS form among the reasons of travel there are just: Resident, Tourism, Transhipment, Transit, visit or work.
Amazon video! I'm wondering if the same rules 'suport the Cuban people ' will apply for people with Spanish passport (SPAIN) flying from Miami to Habana or only US citizens?
Thank you but I would imagine since you are Spanish you should not have a problem with these restrictions. However, I am not sure
@@ChewsToExplore Thank you very much for your reply 😊!
@@ChewsToExploreI read on the Offi e of foreign assets and control that is not where you from. It's where you live . If you live in the US this restrictions apply to you too
Any issues or questions asked when entering back to the USA ?
None at all, thanks for watching!
Hello i heard that u can’t withdraw once your there. How much money should I exchange or i need for 4 days. Thank u.
Yes you cannot take money out as an american. It really depends on what kinds of things you are doing already
Thank you guys !!
Glad that you enjoyed it!
