    This is why I'd happen to respect the Chinese culture. Being raise in Osaka and educated has shown me that in Korea and China they also have more to offer to the world. The importants is the food and the people behind the food by it's lifestyle. By maintaining the ways of Chinese culture from the past until now is very important for everyone to understand how important this is to the people of China and for that reason is why I'd respect the way of life from the people of China. Don't neglect other cultures either because this does apply to many other cultures like mines. Proud to be French/Portuguese but honor to be raised by Japanese parents that help me understand my culture and theirs. This was the start for me to began learning about what is more important.

    The thing is, for me this show is golden. Everything with Eddie, is not only that i learn about food, witch i love, but to see the different cultures surrounding it. Learning about cultures, listening to the way different people talk to each other, is so astounding and meaningful.
    To learn about the 2 things i love the most, is straight up beautiful To listen in on people being people, and how they see the world around them is so awesome. Bringing culture closer. This hits me right in the heart.
    Learning how people identify them self, and show there self to the world, is down right beautiful. I love the way every culture is portrayed, and given an identity. Not by stigmas, but by how the people portray them self in there own culture.
    This is amazing.
    *sorry for shitty grammar*

    Strange that no one has commented on this episode of Huang's World as for me, this is one of the more enlightening episodes about a country I know that I don't know or appreciate nearly enough. The conversation with Eddie and Master Yu just reminds me so much of the kind of conversations and debates I used to have with cooks after a hard day's work or sitting around talking about the kitchen life and how it reflects in the world around us. Seeing Yu's expressions and his demeanor suggests a fellow really rooted in the group but still trying to reach for the stars. Such awesome conversations and such inspiring words. I can see why Eddie wanted to come here and talk to this man. He's a warrior fighting the good fight and we're losing more and more of them in the culture wars going on globally.

    I love this insight on China. Honestly, like Eddie said in the other episode, since people are so restricted on internet, they aren't able to make podcasts of their daily life. Im sure there are people like Eddie that have lived in China their whole life. It would be so cool to see someone from there on TH-cam making daily videos.

    03:16 Tail slate.
    The Tea Lady In The Tree reminds me of a wine sommelier whose similar practiced moves prevent the wine from dripping on the white tablecloth. I noticed she never spilled a drop.
    Side note: in Chinatown in SF, there are tea bars that have tea tastings, similar to wine or beer tastings, most are free and you can try up to 20 different teas which range in price from a couple dollars an ounce to 40 or 50 dollars an ounce. Wake up tea, sleepy tea, bowel cleansing tea, mind sharpening tea, and of course, I-need-to-eat tea and other more specific teas are available. The sleepy tea I bought is serious say-goodnight tea. I paid about $35/oz but it's lasted many years and stays potent in the back of my pantry.

    The end of this episode made me sort of depressed. When Huang was telling the chef that us younger people need to not forget our culture, where we come from. But, as a Black American, I don't have that. Africa is so big and I don't don't know where I came from. Black Americans had hip-hop, but that's been taken and now belongs to the world, like the guy who brought hip-hop to Chengdu. It must be a cool feeling to be in the US and have this deep culture from somewhere else, but that somewhere else is also inside of you.

      Maja in my experience if your self enquiry leads to who you are as a conscious being rather than where it is your gene pool originated you can find self assurance, confidence and happiness within. From there you can soak in per your own terms and enjoy life :)

    • @MakoHazard
      @MakoHazard 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get what you're saying, but on the other hand, where we all came from doesn't matter. The universe is so big and we're only on one tiny little rock. The differences between black, white, asian, etc. might seem big to us but in the grand scheme of things there's no more difference between races than between humans, animals, and insects.
      Basically, everyone should just learn to work together, stop hating, and stop focusing on our differences and try to just live in harmony.
