Dude, seriously, you are a blessing. I'm graduating soon and will be going into the field. Getting as many perspectives and as much info as possible is important to me, and your videos are truly amazing. Keep the content coming, you're on fire!! I know your niche might not be as big as others, but you are one of the few youtubers I've found that talks about their project engineering career. Your videos are extremely helpful, because it isn't too easy to talk to project engineers if you don't know any. Keep on doing you man, you're awesome!!
I’m a undergraduate and learning to be a CM and I wanna learn more on what I’m entering. Your vids are a blessing. Thank you for the content, looking forward for more.
This is true; I'm a Project Engineer and I've had to clean up foreign object debris as a project engineer; keeping a clean site is part of the job, no matter what your position is and what kind of degree you have.
I’m currently working in commercial construction doing plumbing. I have 3 years experience in concrete and I’m working on my degree in Civil Engineering and so far I have learned so much more from hand on experience than I have in class.
Tip number 5 is really important, when I started in construction (gas and electric company) I was super nervous to ask questions I just wanted to get stuff done right the first time every time and I had to learn the hard way 😂 great video as always
I’m one of the field guys, working towards completing my carpenter apprenticeship. I must say, you have a very good understanding of what it takes to succeed in your position. I, too, have my 4 year degree in business management. Once I complete my apprenticeship, it is my goal to become a project engineer. So, it was definitely encouraging hearing you say you learned much from the guys. I feel like I’m getting great experience and your tips apply to even my position. Let me know if you have any feedback. Thank you.
I am about to start my career as a Project Engineer in the Southern California Area. Every time I watch your videos I learn something new. Thank you for sharing your stories and representing our field the way you do!
This is a great video! Our only other advice would be to take a plunge and message some grads working at tier one contractors, or the companies you're eyeing up for their advice and learnings. We know a lot of the recent grads in the Aphex community are always keen to share their experiences, and have a lot of advice to give!
These videos are awesome!! I graduate in May studying Construction Management and I am so excited to start working full time! I’m so nervous but excited haha. I find your videos helpful and entertaining. Keep it up!!
As an undergraduate student studying construction management, I just want to thank you for starting this channel! You’re hitting on so many great tips that you really only learn from professional experience and sharing them with the world. THANK YOU!!
I am from India, completed my bachelors in civil engineering, your videos are friendly and easy to understand, a small suggestion from my side, record the videos regularly the work you do. And mainly the site works done and the basic knowledge that should everyone should have, if you present in that way, it would be more productive for both viewers and you. Thanku
Hey man, I'm off work due to a covid scare and clicked on one of your videos about an hour ago and haven't stopped watching, great commentary and content for a construction management student like me! The industry excites me and love getting new perspectives!
All your videos are great man, well done! I am manufacturing engineer thinking about studying a second degree in construction. That is probably a good idea for your next video: Tips for People with a different background that are interested in going into construction
I'm in my final year of University in Ireland and have stumbled across your channel! Thankfully as part of my undergrad in Construction Management and Engineering, we must complete an 8-month industrial work placement in Year Three and these tips would've been very nice to know in advance!! making me relive some of mistakes 😅
Dude your videos are actually incredible at how genuine, truthful and accurate things are inn the practical world. Huge respects for sharing stuff like this because its super valuable to young engineers and even pro eng's. As a just about graduated eng student, I can't explain to you how often I ran into situations/opporunities like this during co-ops and internships and you take away something new and important every time. To all the engineering students and new grads - this is the gold you don't get anywhere else! Appreciate the videos my man, keep it up!
Sir. I am a 49 year old. Your videos rock I feel so much care about every word you say that sometimes I rewind to analyze it better. I love to build a I think out side the box. Super work you do for all of us I always wanted to learn from the top not other better teacher but you mi best wishes to you sir
Thanks man! Im in Civil Construction and plan to use your content to help increase my knowledge of Construction in general. Im looking forward to your future content!
That’s really interesting. I’m working as Junior quality control, one day i have said for the steel reinforcements foreman I’m learning from you, my college was like 🤯 I feel like i was wrong but then I realised i do learning from him and you’re totally explain my situation.
Thank you for your videos, i'm about to start work soon as a graduate engineer on site, really thankful for all the information you provided, it gave me a much better knowledge of the construction industry
keep the good work . I love these videos .I'm doing construction management engineering . Hopefully it's a as rewarding as hear it is . thank you for the videos
thank you so much for these great advices...I'm a senior civil engineer from Egypt and i worked as a construction engineer in a " post office developing project " seems to be simple project but I see that it's a great start especially, when I discover that collage doesn't qualify you enough. I learned much from workers and respected everyone most of them were older than me...I asked and learned. I even got a scholarship for a design diploma at which I designed a 5 story hotel with my team. I love civil Engineering and I wish to be successful and clever engineer. finally, i like your videos you have a good soul just keep up as we really need courage and support. so thank you. and if you could tell us how to get a job at an any established company.
Awesome to hear Mido! I appreciate you watching. Sounds like you already have great experiences, just keep building your resume of experiences and projects, and when the timing is right, you may find that company youre looking for or they may just find you
Thanks man .....as I am a new job holder i am struggling to match this huge civil work . Working 80+ hours per week 24/7. Its hard to keep motivation to stay this sector. You mentioned your early days experience also like mine.....it's give me hope to learning and get clarity ......
What I learned from my previous internship, there is a language barrier. It is difficult to communicate with other workers, but they will respect if you're a hard worker. At this one project site, there was another intern there as well. I was being pulled by different tradesmen not because I was an extra guy but they knew I was a honest worker. The other intern was taking too many bathroom, water, and socializing breaks.
load and clear sir. swear a god I am learning so much better from u than my lecture. I gained so much knowledge from previous videos as well. so much love and gratitute from Yemen
Hey I am from India and I am really inspired by you and i love watching your videos while I have a lunch break on site or sometimes even after working hours. And I Love the way you Love your work, God bless buddy. Cheers :)
Im having a hard time which to watch in able to prepare myself in the upcoming job im having. Im an entry level and hired to as Project In Charge. Personally, I dont know what to do, but with this i have some insights of do's and don'ts!
where I live, most of work you have mentioned is done by the concrete contractor who does not employ any engineers. I am taking about big companies and huge projects, not a small contractor. Actually, most of them do not have even dedicated surveyor on the site. At the end everything comes down to the formwork foreman who has high school degree in most cases. The Superintendent is usually watching from his trailer and comes down when engineers come briefly for inspections. Some how it works good, some extra bucks to fix mistakes and every thing on the track
I work for a concrete contractor as a field engineer. Idk if it’s a new concept or not but I know a couple that hire field engineers, we also do the surveying and layout.
Finally !!!! after how many years of searching, your video is a blessing. I really want get involve in construction industry. Is it possible to be a project manager in construction? btw I'm a mechanical student.
Hello, I'm enjoying your videos and applying to a construction management major at college. I am an international student in Canada, so I'd like to watch your videos with English subtitles. Could you add subtitles, please?
I studied Water Resource engineering but did not have industry experiences. I am going to find an internship and possibly study one more discipline such as construction or structural. I feel like a construction engineer or general contractors are more dynamic and active and structural engineers are more office-type computer job. I feel like I like to move around a lot and interact with various people. As you mentioned, construction engineers do a little bit of everything, so this should sound more suitable for me. What do you think? Does contruction engineering have many relations with Water Engineers?
Hi im really glad i found your video! Please link me on how to read or locates the door, firelight’s, windows, showers in a plan. Yup! Depends on how it’s set up for sure. Always believed the supt and their foreman were the most important on the job
I work for a concrete contractor as a field engineer. Idk if it’s a new concept or not but I know a couple that hire field engineers, we also do the surveying and layout.

Really great and helpful video! Quick question, as a senior pursuing Electrical Engineering, how would I get started in construction? I got no construction experience but only minimal Manufacturing experience
Telecommunications, Outside Plant Engineer. It involves construction but also the telecommunications side of electrical engineering.
Do you have any interest in building roads/highways ?
Handy tips :)
Good to hear! Thanks Stuart!
Thank you engineer great contents 😊 fresh grad here from ph
Congrats on graduating!
Legend
Hey Kienen, I've been loving your videos! I actually have a business degree and am currently working for a multi-billion dollar general contractor in accounting, but I'm in love with the construction process and want to be more involved in it and the teamwork that goes into it. A few of the project engineers here also had business degrees and learned everything they know on the job so I've been working with them a lot. Besides your videos, do you have any recommendation on texts or other resources for learning the basics of construction engineering? I want to be as knowledgeable about the process as I can. Thanks!!
Awesome to hear! You sound like youre motivated and on the right track. I havent read any books and I would venture to guess that a couple weeks out in the field will tell you more than any book will anyhow. You’ll get there eventually, just give it time and keep inserting yourself into the fire out there and be a sponge
Thanks for the great advice, learnt a lot. I wanted to find out to what extent re you supposed to grasp design software such as AutoCAD or STAAD etc
Not much! Didnt know any of that before I started work
