If buy off Amazon long before Etsy or eBay. Hope this helps. My first and only experience on Etsy was a nightmare so much so that I'll never look at Etsy again.
I agree! They wanted to "buy" it for the birthday party but planned to return it all along so they wouldn't have to pay for it! Total theft. Just awful!

I've looked up facebook pages of ladies who have returned things and there have been two that showed them wearing the item at the event (wedding / concert). Amazon's policies suck for handmade. Thank you for this video that I'm not alone in my experience.
I agree with everything you said! I sell on both. Amazon can be a bully and be more expensive. Etsy is easier as far as adding products and more flexible on shipped dates. And, lower fees. Thanks for this!

Etsy USED to be handmade stuff. When they went public things changed. IMHO Etsy is flooded with crap that's definitely not handmade. They keep raising their fees too.
Thank you for the transparency and who gets paid for selling handmade products. Stay with Etsy. Amazon is a beast like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Apple!🤬
The thing the annoys me about Amazon is that I can't send pictures. People want me to make custom ordered doll clothes and I need to see what they are looking for and send them pictures about what I have made in the past.
Thanks, Angela. Great information! Very helpful. I think Amazon has the philosophy that the customer must by satisfied, no matter if the customer is at fault or you are at fault. Maybe, that will help those vendors who are frustrated by that particular policy by showing that their is a reason for it. It's possible that we, as vendors/sellers, come out ahead when we refund the dissatisfied customer, because, we earn the reputation of satisfying our customers. Which helps draw more customers. I really don't know if that is true. I've never read any statistics on it. In any case, thank you for helping me understand what's going on with these companies.
Thank you for that information it is so helpful. I’ve been wanting to sell personal handmade items on both. However, I heard that Etsy is better. with your information it will make my decision easier. thank you very much.
I wonder if its better to sell on our web page connected to face book as you can have a business on their. Also there are other craft groups on the site. Great video thank you.
Thanks Angela, you're spot on regarding Amazon(Amazon FBA). In 2016, they've lost all our products shipped from China, they are dead in the water. I never heard about Amazon Handmade but wouldn't deal with Amazon, never. No one makes money with Amazon, look somewhere else.
Thanks Angela ... I appreciated your frank explanation of your experiences with both Etsy and Amazon Handmade. I'm new to the handmade business and have an Etsy shop but having trouble people finding me ... I'm learning about the whole promotion thing (pay to play I call it). I know that I have huge competition in the handmade jewelry market ... but with over 100 pieces in my store, I'd hope to have more consistent sales after 10 months in! I was accepted by Amazon Handmade a couple days ago ... but am a bit concerned about jumping in there after hearing your video. Again, Thanks for the video of your experience. I wish you much luck with your business!!!
Yes Etsy is probably the #1 market for handmade jewelry. You have to make sure your Title & Tags are the best possible for people to find you! & The promoted listings should definltey help but if you have the right tags and title you should get the sales :)
You are very motivated and inspire me to want to do this but wonder how much it will all cost. I wish I had the internet when my children were little. I used you make things all the time. I just had a regular sewing machine. Like your out fits and keep going!👍😋
I quit ebay selling for the very same reasons you sight. I dont know how anyone makes a profit. I would only sell old stuff I dont use anymore and unwanted gifts, plus I had the ability to ship with no cost, but people are such cheap skates it was still nearly impossible to make any money. I would always sell brand new stuff with free shipping at whole sale prices but people would still ask for a lower price. I posted a 42" mirror for $25 with free shipping and I still had people haggling for a lower price. I finally sold it for $20. If I had to pay for shipping it would have cost $50 just for the shipping.
I personally appreciate your video! i make hand made items as well and have been thinking about selling on both platforms. You have helped me make more educated decision. Thanks & I am Proud of you!! Rockin it working for yourself!! GREAT JOB!!
I have been EXTREMELY slow to join Amazon as a seller. I have been with Etsy before it got popular. It has worked for me and they have a really good system setup. I am only a buyer when it comes to Amazon. If I buy something I'm not returning it unless something is REALLY wrong. Not everyone is like that. Not everyone respects the handmade culture.
Amazon don’t always side with the customers because i ordered something from amazon and got the wrong item that was also damaged and they refused to refund me. That was my last purchase from them two years ago.
Little by little they are taking over everything. Small business have a hard time competing when they can buy in bulk and get that great rate for whatever they need we, on the other hand, pay top dollar. So I do agree with Florian Lucan.

One thing that I am curious about is the shipping process. I know that amazon does the shipping for you but for Etsy, the seller needs to deal with all the shipping costs like boxes, tape, shipping labels, and shipping fees. My question is: When selling on Etsy, how do you go about shipping fees so that it's not too expensive? What shipping carrier do you use? Do they provide a shipping discount for small business owners?

I tried to sell on Amazon handmade, and when I signing up they ask too much personal information such social security #, then I had interrupt the sign up. I don't feel safe Amazon asking me social security and besides they charge a lot fee. It's not worth, but I still wanted to try to test the water, but the social security turned me off. Should I try EBAY? I have Etsy, but nobody sees me. When I go to Etsy I myself search my own stuff I make, and I don't find. I get suspicious how Etsy shows our stuff.
They ask for your SS# because Amazon is required to report earnings (over a certain amount?) to the IRS. It’s really not much different than giving your SSN to your employer.

I can’t get any sells on Etsy. It’s so discouraging
Just heard of Amazon Handmade. I got approved and logged in and felt lost. I’m tech savvy but I do not have time for all of that. I love Etsy but I’m struggling to sell how I did when I first started. Any tips on making sells? I make stretch bracelets. But thank you for sharing! New subscriber! And, congratulations on the baby! 💕
