Seriously, these developers need to make announcement when these things happen. Or a message in the app saying "We are having trouble with the app right now, we are working to resolve it".
Usually when the birthday thing comes up, even if your of age to be on the app it will tell you that you are not meaning the app will be down for most likely 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on what they need to look into. But if your account disappears they may have found your account activity suspicious and removed your account. (This is what I found on a bit of research I did I may not be 100% correct)

Guys is it true that the filter is a lot less stricter and lets you do almost anything on 18+ accounts?? I've seen some comments talking about how the filter didn't pop up recently.
Stuff like this happens a lot but it’s still able to work, sometimes it just shows the log in screen and all you have to do is log back in. Other times you just gotta wait it out.
Even tho I use the website it’s (sometimes,)..it’s only when my internet isn’t at full it won’t work, like if it’s 3 bars or less, 4 bars it works perfectly fine.
For me it showed that it was having a high load issue. I was told to wait and yeah then it was working fine. I went to sleep woke up next day. It's working.

Well, i've already gone through this issue a lot. To me personally, I just ignored this issue, then, coming back after a few minutes or hours, maybe it's just stabilizing the server or some shit. And one advice(I even tried this today, and it worked) when the app asks for your birthday DON'T ANSWER, just press the button on the phone to come back, then the app will come back to normal. And if it doesn't, then just come back in a few hours. It's a pretty messed up issue that shows character AI weaknesses... Maybe they're just stabilizing the servers like I wrote. But even so, it's annoying, like you can't even google in or put your email account because that error message keeps coming. Anyway, the solution is pretty simple(at least for me) and I know how infuriating it can be. Good luck trying to get your app back. Edit: Yeah, just as I thought, many people are finding the same solutions as me. Guess it's a 'server' thing. Chatacter AI devs, what did you do with your own app/website.....
It's down again today. Update: Resolved, but it banned one of my bots in the process from group chatrooms. It can still be talked to in a normal conversation, but it can't be used in chats with other bots. The bots' title is "Liutlinde" and it's a very safe for work bot so I don't get why it's blocked from group chatrooms. Update2: Liutlinde was unbanned and works normally.
This happens to me, but when i put my birthday in, it says that i can't use their services because of it (let me remind you that it's in the perfect age limit)
This happened too me a few minutes ago since I use mobile I just clicked on the triangle button once and it allowed me too skip it though I'm not sure about Computers and laptop's... If you wanna use the app I'd suggest going too the website honestly I've tried it on multiple devices it doesn't work except for mobile user's as I said I just clicked on the triangle button that's bellow your screen I clicked it once and it just completely skipped it and it stopped asking me again though as I said... I don't know how you can skip it for people on computers or laptop all I know is it only works for mobile user's
it wouldnt let me because i refreshed and there was a queue because of a lot of people tried to get on because of the only 1 hour timeout. i just waited for my queue to go away then it let me in :)
Omg it happened to me too!! It would ask for my birthday, then it'd say try again, then my homepage would appear for a few seconds before the whole process repeats again. It worked after several tries when i pressed back.
I had a problem that was relatively similar. I tried to use the app last night. However, it randomly asked me for my birthday. I put in the details and then it said “Sorry, you’re not eligible to use our services.” It did this multiple times. I had an over 18 account. It only worked when I put in the year “2001”, which wasn’t the birth year that I had on my accounts at all. It was really weird, and I panicked a bit for sure.
The same happened to me omg I was freaking out because I'm a minor but my account is 18+ so I was scared they'd figured out I lied or something 😭 anyways though when I logged back in everything was good but still TERRIFYING
@Lyneyfan70 go to settings and scroll down until u see "log out" or "sign out" then u will eventually get out of ur old account then u can create another

Hi! Someone who was in the official server here. It was a 2 hour outage a lot of users thought they were banned but it’s fine you all aren’t banned.
