I am 72 years old now and my daddy used to tell us stories how he grew up on a share crop farm in Marlboro county in South Carolina. Back then he was just a little boy having to drop out of school in 3rd grade to work on the farm. He would tell us how special the mules were and their care came first over any of the family. He would tell us at noon they would give the mules a break and they were fed and watered before any of the family. I can totally understand that as the mule was their life. Today, most people are so spoiled if it does have a push button they don't work. This old guy here is doing this because he enjoys it. Still a lot of work.

Excellent presentation with great camera work!! My Grandfather, born in 1896, said that He so enjoyed working with draft horses, logging in The Pacific NW as well as hay and wheat farming with horses. He said that that one good thing about the tractor coming into use was that it did not feel pain when an abusive person used it, unlike horses, mules, etc. He had such a loving heart and it really troubled Him when folks were unkind to animals.

@@zachodommulelogging I was impressed how "square" he kept his plowing , seeing how he started outside and worked to the inside. His last strip was parallel , not pie shaped at all. I didn't see a GPS mounted on either mule , LOL.
Haha! Yes you’re right. Pa always told me, “You can tell a lot about a feller by his plow job.” Took me years to truly know what he meant. I’m always watching while I am plowing especially to the middle trying to true it up. To keep that from happening at the end lol. And honestly I can do better work with a walking plow than a riding plow. But I enjoy plowing with either. And yes, Mr Summers mules walk a tight line for sure. They’ve done it many many times. Thanks again brother

My grandpa didn't sit. He walked behind the mules holding onto the plow "arms". Sorry, I forget what they are called. This was over 60 yrs ago. It was hard work for the mules and hard work for my Grandpa. I miss him still.
Yes you’re right. I too have walking plows and that’s mainly how I plow with my team. I enjoy plowing more with a walking plow than a riding plow. Riding plows have just became a thing in the south over the last 30 years. Most people that farmed with a team way back, in the south, used mostly all walking implements. Folks down south were too poor to afford much of anything. My grandfather was much the same as yours and I miss mine dearly too. Thanks for watching and sharing with me! I appreciate it

That’s pretty neat! I always love hearing the old timers stories. Unfortunately they’re getting fewer these days, but I do value them! Greatly!! Thanks for sharing your grandpa with me and for watching. As well as taking time to comment. I surely appreciate it. Take care.
That was incredibly good. What a wonderful easy going way Mr. Summers has with his mules. It is a real relationship built on trust.. Thank you. Enjoyed the vid a bunch. Keep well.
Thank you and I am glad ya enjoyed it!
I love how kind he is to them, speaking low and soft. Especially getting up and not making them pull him to the next pass. They inturn appreciate him and are slow and gentle.

My dad used to do this but by the time I came around he had switched to a tractor.
He would still get me on the Massey Harris Pacer to pull the old horse drawn plow and holler orders at me over the sound of the engine!!!

Yes ma’am, and thank you very much! Thanks for watching and commenting
Impressive , he has them on auto pilot, he can handle that plow too . All three are in perfect harmony with each other. Glad I came across your videos.
Thanks buddy and yes me too. Thank you for watching them! I appreciate it
@@zachodommulelogging I was impressed how "square" he kept his plowing , seeing how he started outside and worked to the inside.
This brings back memories of my childhood on the farm. We had horses but also one mule.

Real mule man , good looking belgian mules, the right kind !
Yes he truly is! And thank you for the kind words about my friend. And his mules. I appreciate it and I’m sure he does as well. Take care and do come again, please!
I appreciate it
Them mules are as gentle as he is RESPECT
Thank you kindly and yes, he is a super good man. I always enjoy my time with him. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
My step grandpa talk about his dad bred for mules in Ohio you could cultivate corn and turn around on the ends and they would never step on the corn plants and they could load the barn with hay on voice commands only I would love to see more vids on those mules
