I’m so proud of how far skateboarding has come over the years and how it’s evolved. I grew up skating in the late 80’s and seeing how good these guys are is almost hard to believe! I remember when the Ollie impossible was new and it really did look impossible. These guys are doing impossibles and 360 kickflips over gaps, handrails, hitting huge sets of stairs like it’s nothing. The rider at 6:46 - 360 Ollie grab off some corporate art across a small park! The guy grinding a second story handrail reminds me of Greg Noll when he talked about paddling onto a 50+ foot wave - at this point you’re gambling with your life. I can’t wait to finish my setup and get back on the board myself.
After describing what you’ve just described and ending that detente in the way you did, why on earth would you want to skate?

From what I understood, he was taking my comment about the evolution of skating to mean that there’s no reason to skate anymore because “it’s all been done”. Sort of like what Art Tatum did with stride piano in jazz. As if the only reason to skate is to get more radical. That’s not what I was saying at all - he seemed to be projecting his own feelings onto it. And why do I skate? Because it’s one of the best feelings on earth. 🤙
I also skated in the late 80's, mostly vert and some street. I went out 4 years ago (at 43) and found some ramps and ended up with my femur in 3 pieces. Please be careful out there, and have fun!
