@@MetalGearW0lf I've seen one Akitaka Tohyama mentioned a lot in the OST for 6, Tag 2 and 7. Dunno if he/she's the new composer, but I do dig his/her work a lot
Tekken 3 definitely was a pretty great PS1 game, a classic staple really. Tekken 2 was great but Tekken 3 took the formula and improved it even more. It's really not surprising that it's considered a legacy game. :)
@home9dog2blue Sorta lol Like the home version of Tekken Tag gave us even more detailed character models which still look good for their time but I feel like the other things like stage design and music kinda went down a notch but that's just my own subjective opinion lol
Tekken 2 was perfect...never really liked Tekken 3 that much. Music was worse, final boss was worse, backgrounds were worse, sound effects were worse (announcer and the hits sounded more like slaps) Sidestepping makes the fights more random. Backstepping is enough for me.
@@RJ-cq8dd Definitely subjective opinion. I do like Tekken 2. I will agree that Tekken 2 had a better soundtrack even though I actually like the Industrial Rock inspired sound that Tekken 3's OST was centered around. I also agree that the background stage designs were a lot better in Tekken 2 as well. The main thing I like about Tekken 3 was the control. The thing that makes it sometimes hard to go back to with Tekken 2 is how stiff the characters can feel at times.
This video made me fondly remember all those days and hours spent in versus and beach ball mode with my ex-best friend, we'd have hundreds upon hundreds matches each session and have just about same W/L -ratio each and every time. He was the one who knew just about every combo and I learned all the spots where one could cut them off. After those times, other fighting games with other friends haven't felt the same. It's always good to see more people enjoying this one.
Finally! A game I completed. This video has reminded me of how hard Tekken Force was. That was a memory I had forever forgotten. I don't know how I ended up doing it. I don't remember dying that much, but I definetly I remember running out of time on stage four. Also, a cool feature in Tekken 3 was that your savestate (the one that came out when you plugged your PS with no game on it) told you what to do next in order to unlock everything. EDIT: And in the savestate the game used to aknowledge you for completing everything!!
Not sure if anyone cares but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can stream all of the latest movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf for the last couple of months :)
tekken 5 had such a beautiful intro, the song was freaking incredible and fighting was the best it had ever been in the tekken franchise, truly deserving the the title of a sequel with all the huge abundance of characters and emulators of previous tekkens except the 4th one included just for the "fun" of it.Hopefully you do the completionist review on it next just for history records
Tekken 5 is my favorite out of the post-T3 era by far. Love the crazy amount of extras and the rival fights + endings, which are sorely missing from Tekken 7 :/
About a year and a half after this episode, the Super Couch Fighters ended. Michael left "That One Video Gamer" network to work on his voice acting career as well as starting a podcast. Brett would start a new affiliated channel called Weekend Warriors with a rotating cast of special guest hosts. Weekend Warriors would quietly shut down in March of 2020, and Brett would become a full time member of The Completionist crew, and would also join Gerard and Alex as a third member of the Super Beard Brothers. BTW, Brett's last name is "Bayonne". Don't know why he chose to hide it, as it's a pretty badass name.
rainfire19 They should do Tag it's one of the best and they need to treat themselves because 4 was such a disappointment. Best of Tekken: Tekken 3, Tag, 5, Tag 2 and 7
Dr Bosconovitch was one of the most lamest characters to ever be unlocked in a tekken fighting game alongside with Gon for arcade , i wished we got Kazuya in Tekken 3 , however seeing his , Heis, and Jins toxic relationship in Tekken 4 build and shape i guess his character really develops more into a villainous character arc for Kaz, seeming as from Tekken 1 he was seen as the Protagonist OHHHH HOW THE TABLE HAS CHANGED !
I remember around 2002 when i was about 12-13 years old playing this game almost every day in a Gaming Arcade around the corner where is used to live. I remember playing with an oily old ps1 controller that went probably trough 100000 of hands. Nostalgia 🤣🤣
Tekken 3 was the first Tekken I ever owned and had my favorite Tekken character of all time, Jin. So cool that you finally played this one on the show.
I love the Super Couch Fighters X Completionist crossover! Super solid episode! Man.. I have to start playing Tekken again.. in the words of Aaron Lewis "it's been awhile".(blech)
Tekken 3 was actually my first fighting game. My brother-in-law had it when I first met him, and we'd play it together sometimes (and he'd kick my butt 12 ways to Sunday with Eddie).
Around 20-21 minutes in brett looks like that one kid during a class presentation who is so emotionally involved in the subject but doesn't want to overdo it
It's good stuff. The "Run it backs" are fun, and when they play newer games they go pretty in depth into stuff without being off putting. Their Tekken 7 vids taught me a lot
Tekken 3 wasn't the first one I indulged in, but it was the first one I sat down for the full experience. A new friend I met stayed behind after everyone else left and we went all the way through Tekken 3...granted he had to do most of the game since I wasn't knowledged at all, but we went from midnight to 7AM and it was a great old time.
Not only was Tekken 3 my first ever fighting game, but it was also my first ever game, full stop. I found a copy of the game at a store called Hertex for 200 kr. just last week. That's less than 2 dollars for your information. I also found copies for MediEvil, Oddworld: Abe's Exodus and the original Resident Evil, each on the same price as Tekken 3. I can't begin to describe to you how hyped I got.
Novice players in Tekken 3 might say "who needs this old, crazy dude when you got a capoeira fighter that can used to button mashing?" What you didn't realize is Doctor B. is extremely terrifying, even more terrifying than True Ogre, if it's in the hands of professional players.
I grew up playing MVC but I remember my uncle giving me Tekken 3 as a gift and man was I hooked. I also recall how my cousin broke my memory card, forcing me to start from scratch and unlock everyone. Totally didn't mind though, the game was one heck of a fun experience
4:55 FALSE.....Tekken 3 was 15 years after Tekken 2.....the game booklet states that proof Tekken 4 was 5 years AFTER Tekken 3.....therefore making it 20 years into the timeskip storyline Just clearing it up as a Tekken die hard. Still love the video
+Jeffrey ikr? Which is why I keep hoping they put Makochii from Puchimasu (an Idolmaster anime spinoff) in a Tekken game (she's canonically been taught by "A Pointy-Haired Old Man", and they've referenced the Zaibatsu in at least one of the strips)
I came across Tekken 3 in the check-in office of a lodging place I went to on vacation for a few summers. At the time, I didn't know what it was but I always found myself coming back to it. I always played King and a few years of coming back, I beat the game! To this day, I know and preform all of King's victory animations when I win a match of Tekken.

Melee isn't "good," per say, but is one of the tightest fighting games. It invented the pro scene for smash and is STILL going on. So I think we can't say it doesn't deserve praise.
Alex Kendall I'm talking about unexploited melee no wave dashing l cancelling none of that the game is very average and there is not enough to it to get the completionist treatment

Hwoarang was my go to guy. He has literally the best fight move catalogue ever. not only does he have moves for a regular stance, but he has different moves depending on if you switch his leg position or arm position or both. alot of my button mashing friends knew the stance change as the 'hwoarang dance' because every time they button mashed, he'd start doing this leg shuffle where he just stood there swapping leg stance or arm stances, and they had no clue what was happening. ENTER THE HWOARANG EXPERT PUPPETEER....(me) to show them how to use him and kick their asses into next week in the process. he was a character, who along with eddy gordo, bought tekken to a whole new level of technicality. and thanks to the 'one button, one limb' way of controlling these dudes, you literally felt like an epic fight master puppeteer...''dance for me little polygonal computer generated puppet DAaAaAaANCE MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!.....ahem'' so like i said...best tekken ever
In all tekken ps1 games you could change on options between arcade and ps1 soundtrack and being able to play all tekken endings in theater mode by changing the CD in theater mode
Yo, very slight correction guys: You unlock Tekken Ball by beating Arcade Mode with any 10 characters, and you unlock Theater Mode by beating Arcade Mode with the base 10 characters. Sick video though!
Started playing Tekken again this week (T7 this time) after passively playing T3 at a friend's house when I was little, and damn... I completely forgot how cool and intuitive the general fighting system is. I'll always love myself some traditional fine-tuned 2D fighters (as a SF player myself) but I'm growing child-like appreciation for Tekken again. P.D: Despite not being as in-depth as Soul Calibur, the character customization is pretty neat.
I loved this game to pieces. I don't really enjoy fighting games as much as the typical fan but this game had EVERYTHING, it just kept on giving. I miss the times where games could surprise you with this instead of asking you 20$ on unwanted but necessary DLC. Last time I felt a game was this complete was ironically CoD: Black Ops with the campaign, multiplayer, zombies and Dead Ops Arcade.
It's a miracle Tekken 3's soundtrack was as good as it is. Usually when games try to follow the current trends in music (in this case; the late 90s explosion of Big Beat music thanks to artists like The Prodigy, Chemical Bros, and Fatboy Slim), it ends up feeling fake and cheap, but here, it's amazing!
I gotta say, I started watching Super Couch Fighters after Brett began coaching Alex on the Dark Souls 3 Let's Play of Super Beard Bros, and easily those guys have become part of my favourite in TH-cam. TOVG family rocks!!
I didn't own a PS2 as a kid, so the only time I've played Tekken 3 was when I was really young at a friends house. I remember two dragon-like characters that were my favorites because they looked like dragons...
Man i have so much nostalgia for tekken 3. I remember sneaking to my uncles playstation when i was like 6 and button mashed my wy through arcade mode and against my friends
Tekken 3 actually sold 8.5 million copies (Source is Harada's twitter via VGsales wiki) but now it's the 3rd best selling fighting game (Smash 3DS passed it last year)
I used to play this solid for years. Tekken force is a challenge, but I used to play that more than anything else. A nice streets of rage style mini game.

I like that Michael dude. He was pretty funny in this video :D Hope to see him again in future episodes
Yo, very slight correction guys: You unlock Tekken Ball by beating Arcade Mode with any 10 characters, and you unlock Theater Mode by beating Arcade Mode with the base 10 characters. Sick video though!
It's crazy that the only Tekken games I've played are Tekken 5 and Tekken 7, because this one looks awesome!
Did you unlock the alternate openings? Did you unlock Ling and Jin's 3rd outfits (use each fifty times to get a school outfit for each)?
Started playing Tekken again this week (T7 this time) after passively playing T3 at a friend's house when I was little, and damn... I completely forgot how cool and intuitive the general fighting system is.
I'll always love myself some traditional fine-tuned 2D fighters (as a SF player myself) but I'm growing child-like appreciation for Tekken again.
P.D: Despite not being as in-depth as Soul Calibur, the character customization is pretty neat.
I am watch all you vídeos, But Man, this one is perfect tear apart The SOULS from our friends is magic
YESS!!!!! BEEN LITERALY WAITING YEARS 4 THIS!!!!!
Great vid. Keep pumping them out
I gotta say, I started watching Super Couch Fighters after Brett began coaching Alex on the Dark Souls 3 Let's Play of Super Beard Bros, and easily those guys have become part of my favourite in TH-cam. TOVG family rocks!!
I didn't own a PS2 as a kid, so the only time I've played Tekken 3 was when I was really young at a friends house. I remember two dragon-like characters that were my favorites because they looked like dragons...
You should complete marvel vs capcom 2 on the Dreamcast, because you had to buy the characters and skins in the in game store. Grind
Eddy is not a kickboxer. He is a capoeira fighter
Tekken Force Mode.... holy shit did stage 4 kick my ass over and over again
Man i have so much nostalgia for tekken 3. I remember sneaking to my uncles playstation when i was like 6 and button mashed my wy through arcade mode and against my friends
Tekken 3 actually sold 8.5 million copies (Source is Harada's twitter via VGsales wiki) but now it's the 3rd best selling fighting game (Smash 3DS passed it last year)
how I wish current Tekken games still had Tekken Ball! The hours i spent playing that mode with my friends were countless!
I used to play this solid for years. Tekken force is a challenge, but I used to play that more than anything else. A nice streets of rage style mini game.
