Thank you so much! I have been searching for this recipe for so long! My late grandmother would make homemade hotdog chili when I was a child, and I never had it after she died. I intend on making it this week. Once again, thank you for bringing back memories of my grandmother. ❤️
OMG! Hands down! The best chili ever! I made this the other day! Meant to leave a comment. After I ate the ITIS hit me. I had some yesterday! This is definitely a keeper. Keep doing your thing.
Wow. And all my life I've just been opening up a can of Hormel chili. That looks great and I can't wait to try it. Chili dogs are the best. I love your channel. Your southern style dirty rice has become one of my go-to recipes. 😊
Nothing wrong with opening a can of Hormel Chili no beans for Chili Dogs. You are supporting a company that has been providing us with convenience foods for 130 years. They invented SPAM. They provided much of the preserved canned meats needed to feed the troops in WW II. Due to allergies, I can't have many convenience foods. Their Chili with Beans was a pantry item for me when I was on my own in my late teens/early 20's. Recipe changed, my allergies set in so I am not able to open a can and heat n eat. I miss those days. Meal in 15 minutes. Now I gotta spend 1 hour or more prepping and cooking.
Every recipe I came across they were using a frying pan. So I finally put in the word boiled hot dog chili sauce. So glad define you. Love the wisdom of your message. Just don't listen to haters. Don't encourage them Thank you for the recipe.
I have got to make this! I was raised eating chili and slaw dogs, maybe a little mustard. The meat in the chili was finely ground. This looks sooo good!
My first time making chilli and I have everything but the tomato sauce and Other sauce that was minuted but I’m still about to try with everything else and it is smelling so good still!!
That's fire Chef Ray Mack.. Love the way you articulated this dish.. I would devour those Chili dogs.. Great work Chef.. The Rookie Chef always here.. Much Love.. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I had been looking for a hotdog chili recipe since I stopped eating pork (Hormel was my favorite) 😩. I tried castleberry and a few other canned chilis and they never were quite as good as Hormel and I could never doctor them up properly. I’ve tried one or two chili recipes and a few chili mixes and still never as good. THIS is the one!!!!The best chili recipe I’ve made thus far, and I love hotdogs, always have since a kid. I use McCormick original chili powder and keep everything else the same per the recipe. Thank you Ray Mack, God bless you and the channel!!!
*That’s how you get down! That chili sauce looked so good. Those hotdogs (chili dogs) looked delicious. I love hotdogs with a good homemade chili sauce. Awesomeness*
Oh my gosh, this was the absolute best hot dog chilli ever!!!! I've never heard of boiling the meat in water, but that made all the difference. Phenomenal!
@@RayMacksKitchenandGrill Done. Finished cooking 5 minutes ago. Now to let it cool so I can portion it out. Will try it on a dog tomorrow with mustard and chopped raw white onion topping on toasted (or grilled) NE stye roll. We all have our favorites. Cheers.
Flint style coney sauce is very similar to this. Very close process. It's a modified salsta kima, which is a traditional greek sauce very close to an italian bolognese. That's what the immigrants in the Detroit and Jackson, Michigan area used on their "coney island" hot dogs when they came in from new york. Alot of history wih that in the Detroit are, where I'm from. Sauce looks great!
Looks great and gonna have to give this one a try! I just came across your channel on the griddle for your Webber video and just wanted to say hey from a fellow 919 guy here.
In the Midwest where I live, we make this homemade sweet sloppy joe and eat it on hotdogs with onions. Sometimes people add shredded cheese. Not to confuse this with Cincinatti chili, because it isn't a chili sauce. But the sloppy joe has mustard in it, along with onion, cans of tomato soup and brown sugar.
Hey Miss Angela, from Cincinnati here. My youngins love it that way too! It's really good on dogs and burgers. Definitely agree with you on skyline type "chili" sauce!
Yes sir!! I’ve tried a few chili recipes and this one is too! Love it sir! I added a tablespoon of Cattlemen’s Carolina tangy bbq sauce. Thank you for the recipe! I’m subscribing right now!
The liquid will not evaporate by leaving the lid on the pot, the steam has to have somewhere to go or it will just condense on the lid and drip back down into the pot. My 2 cents, as I make hot dog chilli often.
Living in the Carolina area in the early 1990’s was the first time I ever had coleslaw on a hot dog, to this day my favorite dog is covered in slaw and mustard, I do chili dogs with onion and mustard and shredded cheese, rarely ever put ketchup on a hotdog
Looks good. I would have added in some nice chopped garlic and perhaps some dried italian seasonings. I bet a little portor or stout beer would have tasted nice too !
Looks interesting. Just a couple of questions though. 1. Why is the ground beef cooked in water? Doesn't that wash out the flavor? Also, what do you do with any grease that may be generated? 2. Instead of all the individual ingredients wouldn't it be simpler and more cost effective to use chili powder?
Thank you so much! I have been searching for this recipe for so long! My late grandmother would make homemade hotdog chili when I was a child, and I never had it after she died. I intend on making it this week. Once again, thank you for bringing back memories of my grandmother. ❤️
The ground beef and water step is crucial to getting the right texture for the sauce. Looks legit.
OMG! Hands down! The best chili ever! I made this the other day! Meant to leave a comment. After I ate the ITIS hit me. I had some yesterday! This is definitely a keeper. Keep doing your thing.
The simple things in life are always the best ! Thank you Ray Mack
