My 97 looks just like it...literally looks brand new! Has 160,000 miles on it. Japanese design/ build very reliable vehicles and get good gas mileage too! I'll never buy a Ford/Chevy/Dodge again...they're junk nowadays. 👍
Good to see a video from you Jay! Finding a nice Rodeo or most Isuzu's in general is getting harder these days sadly. I always look at them and think they are cool especially with the interiors they had and the paint combos you could get. I still see them but where I live we have salt so rust is a thing. This is a great survivor and I'm sure it will go to a good home. These are really reliable as well which is nice.
I always liked the look of the two door version of this called the Amigo. This is definitely in great shape, it deserves a good home where it’ll be driven.
These were a Holden Passport in Australia. The Holden Rodeo was the ute version. Same interior, wheels, front end, etc. with a tray on the back. We had two of them when I was a kid. They were invincible with the 3L turbo diesel. Wish we never sold them. Incredibly capable.
Very cool! I wish Isuzu still sold vehicles for civilians in the U.S. (they still sell trucks, box trucks....but that wouldn't look right unless you owned a business) Those Rodeos were tough and popular at one time. The last of the genuine off road 4x4s, not like this plush crap they make now. Isuzu also made a car called the VehiCross, it was considered "revolutionary" back in the late 90s when it came out and was moderately popular but you dont see them anymore. Very nice! Thanks for sharing, Jay!
Bought my black one new in 1992, about same mileage...sat for many years and just started to look into getting it drivable again. So glad i hung onto it, very sentimental to me! Rodeo ❤
I have a black one! I love it. Though mine has way more miles on it and was used as a mudding truck. It's nice to see what it looked like before. Great video!
That is a good deal! 3M adhesive remover would get the glue off without hurting the paint. I like that engine better than the GM engines I usually see in those.
I would have thought it was even older....maybe an 88.....Don't remember Isuzu being around in 96...LOL Nice shape....and good price. Hope it goes to a good home...
I guess most US cars is automatic. I was a bit surprised when people were starting to write "unicorn!" about my black 1995 Trooper LTD 3.2 5 speed manual. I live in Sweden where they was never sold as new so I guess it´s a unicorn in it´s own way here too. I can say it made an Isuzu lover out of me. That hydraulic lifter noise will go away with some frequent oil changes and some driving. About the timing belt. They are pretty easy to change, also they are non-interference if it should break.
Just picked up 1996 Honda Passport. same motor, automatic, green. Clean inside and out. 136,ooo miles. Had a coolant leak thru coolant bypass pipe under intake manifold.
i miss seeing older vehicles on the road, stinks they are gone with the wind. why i have to come on TH-cam to see people revive cars that can still be driven around.
I have a 96 as a back up vehicle. The fuel pump sometimes won't run...gets stuck. I hook up a hose at fuel pressur gauge port...give it a shot of compressed air...breaks pump free...fast and easy to do. 👍
I own a 94 rodeo with 75000 miles RED in great shape V6 automatic with manual 4WD. I use it in winter months its just the best little 4WD never been stuck, I just cant get rid of it!!!
Had one of these many years ago. Mine was white, 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 2 wheel peel. Only issue it ever gave me was a random misfire once. New plugs and she was good as new.
I had one like that. Wasn’t a manual transmission and certainly was as pristine. I only had it a few months. The entire cooling failed and I didn’t have the money to repair it plus the suspension was totally shot
I have the same rig…almost. My is a 1997 and the A/C doesn’t work and has 48,000 miles. Otherwise, identical. Great rig. I found it in Maryland 2 years ago with 31,000 miles on it and the fuel pump didn’t work. It had rust in the tank - a fresh used tank from Utah and I have been good to go. Live my Rodeo. All the same issues. Hood latch, radio, etc. Hilarious.
I learned how to drive stick with a Isuzu trooper (84) two door. I think the stereo is compatible with gm stereos, gm had a partnership with Isuzu then. The dura max was actually a joint venture with Isuzu. Awesome rodeo hope it goes to a good home.
That is a rather nice one at that, i have a similar one, which has the sun roof and is green, shame one of the windows doesnt roll down and the rear wiper doesnt move anymore
i basically grew up in one of these, a 2 door 1992 i think. always wanted to find another but the carolinas are a bit too far away from minnesota for me to jump on this haha
I had a honda passport which is a re-badged Rodeo. What kills them is frame rot can't take salt and the automatics fail around 150k. This one's a manual but check the frame front and rear.
You must not be looking then. Because I can find running driving cold air vehicles for less than a grand all day long. Not everyone tries to scam someone else out of money.
I have a 2003 rodeo black with only 27,800 miles not 4x4 :( but it’s in incredible condition inside and out. What do you think I could sell it for. ? Located in Florida where it’s been it’s whole life so no rust.
Back then I remember that v6 was known for not being thrifty. Mileage compared to the v8 Explorer depending on how you drove it. But a very common motor across all their SUVs including that weird VehiCross or whatever it was called. So maybe getting parts for the engine is not a problem since there are likely many still in service? At $2,500 IMHO that's a real bargain.
This is almost a year after this video was posted, but I'm sure that Isuzu would have been a great car for me to learn how to drive a manual transmission with. I have driven vehicles with manual transmissions before, but I absolutely suck at smooth starts and hill starts.
In early 1992 I purchased a brand new left-over '91 with the same specs. It had remained unsold because of the manual tranny. I'd like to say what a nice SUV it was and occasionally it was true, it certainly worked well in snow, but the reality is that it was one of the worst POSs it was my misfortune to own. "Unreliable" doesn't begin to cover it. It was badly put together in Indiana and even the GM 2.8 V6 was barely mediocre. Ran on 5 as often as it ran on 6. Leaked coolant from new. Had a bad head gasket also from new. Every mechanical component broke at least once. Heck, even the paint came off in large sections. Then one morning, after two miserable years of ownership, it broke a rear suspension mount simply driving out of my driveway. That was the end for me: I returned it to the dealership. Oh, and that fuel pump ? yeah, it was crap from the factory. Mine was driven a lot, but it still quit, leaving me stranded in heavy rush-hour traffic to the dismay and chagrin of the poor folk behind me, some of whom vociferously expressed their doubts as to the validity of my parents' marriage.
I had one in pristine condition that i bought in Beverly hills in the recycler magazine 1900 dollars in w009 someone hit it at an uncontrolled stop light in north long beach and it was totalled
I was the guy who ended up buying it; I love it! Turning it into my daily, needs literally nothing as it sits right now in my driveway :)
Great rig! I have your twin. 1997, but pretty much identical in every way. It has been my daily for 2 years. Enjoy!
Let's see a video on it!!
I have the next gen rodeo (2001) and love it. Those little cars are so cool.
thats incredible shape for 156k miles. those back seats look like theyve never been sat in. love these rodeos theyre so cool
My 97 looks just like it...literally looks brand new! Has 160,000 miles on it.
Japanese design/ build very reliable vehicles and get good gas mileage too!
I'll never buy a Ford/Chevy/Dodge again...they're junk nowadays.
👍
Wish they still offered such practical simplicity.
My old man used to have one of these, 1995 5spd v6. First vehicle i ever learned to drive stick on, i miss that truck all the time! Awesome vehicles

And it has the ball chiller 🥶

This was before Honda made a deal to get a passport.
I have 2 Rodeos...a 96 and a 97.
Both run great....both 5 speed manual trans.. *2 wheel drive*
4 wheel drive unnecessary.
With Hoovie looking at the Wizard's Nissan 720 Bushmaster, I feel like this would be just as cool for him!
One minor correction. That Bushmaster is owned by Euroasian Bob.
Very cool! Ony someone who never owned one would claim these vehicles were tough. Tough to keep running more than a few weeks at a time, maybe.
Great to see. My wife got a ‘93 Rodeo 2wd v6 when we got married. Great truck. It lasted many years. Haven’t seen one in ages
That interior is clean. It’s hard to find one of those in that condition.
That takes me back to the Isuzu factory, that built these back in the 90s, in the UK, that I did a little work in. 😊
I’m in the Midwest, that thing would be a rusted pile but this thing looks amazing and it’s a 5 speed v6 someone needs to buy this.
Nice find, Jay. I miss Isuzu.
Man, 2500 bucks is a steal for that. Love the Rodeo's.
Cracking old rig, they were badged as Vauxhall fronteras over in the UK as well. Not common at all over hear either anymore.
Wish i had money, nice truck. Yea my explorer has the timing chain issue but still runs good no noise surprisingly.
Bought my black one new in 1992, about same mileage...sat for many years and just started to look into getting it drivable again. So glad i hung onto it, very sentimental to me! Rodeo ❤
Twin sticks !!! Love it !
That tick is standard on the 3.2. It's the fuel injectors firing. They all do it. The 3.5 in the Trooper does it too.
I have a black one! I love it. Though mine has way more miles on it and was used as a mudding truck. It's nice to see what it looked like before. Great video!
That is a good deal! 3M adhesive remover would get the glue off without hurting the paint. I like that engine better than the GM engines I usually see in those.
I had a white one. Absolutely amazing vehicle in my experience.
Thats an awesome looking rodeo 4 wheel drive 5 spd manual V6 should sell fast
Man i love these cars, always a pleasure seeing one of those
Hellow jay good to see you again buddy
Honda re-badged them as the Passport back then too!!
Very nice find! Looks great!
I would have thought it was even older....maybe an 88.....Don't remember Isuzu being around in 96...LOL Nice shape....and good price. Hope it goes to a good home...
That would be a nice daily!! 😧 Hope life is treating you well Jay 🔧🔩

What an amazing car! I’d probably buy it if I had money, space, and lived closer
Surprised you haven’t bought it. Awesome four wheeler!
Reminds me of my 90 Trooper. Loved it.
We still have a bunch of these Rolling around here in Ecuador. They sold them here as Chevrolet Rodeo with minor updates until 2005.
Wow, my cousin had a 98! I am currently watching You on my vacation in Nashville! I’m headed into Memphis tomorrow, Gatlinburg on Thursday!
How funny. I found you through your Ram barn truck video, and I got a Isuzu Trooper on the property we moved on. Funny!
I would daily this the manual makes it so cool
i miss seeing older vehicles on the road, stinks they are gone with the wind. why i have to come on TH-cam to see people revive cars that can still be driven around.

👍
I was thinking triple the asking until the mileage and then still $5k would be easy online.Very well kept.Kudos.
Looks good 👍

I had a Holden Rodeo , basically the exact same car , but for the New Zealand and Australian market
Thanks for the flashback Bookkeeper In a restaurant I Worked in had one I drove it around the parking lot 2500 A Steal especially how beautiful it is
Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t Honda badge this as the Passport in the 90’s? Before the CRV came out?
Yes 94-97 1st gen 98-02 second gen all rebadged Isuzu
My grandmother had a 1983 car that was that perfect and only used it every few weeks
Cool car. Loved my 2000 Amigo!
I have the same rig…almost. My is a 1997 and the A/C doesn’t work and has 48,000 miles. Otherwise, identical. Great rig. This is something that could easily end up on Doug DeMuro’s channel! Lol! This thing is so damn cool!
I learned how to drive stick with a Isuzu trooper (84) two door. I think the stereo is compatible with gm stereos, gm had a partnership with Isuzu then. The dura max was actually a joint venture with Isuzu. Awesome rodeo hope it goes to a good home.

🎯slap some tires on it good to go damn I'm in MB wish I saw this earlier lol
i basically grew up in one of these, a 2 door 1992 i think. always wanted to find another but the carolinas are a bit too far away from minnesota for me to jump on this haha
That’d be a $5500+ vehicle up here in Maine!
That car is known as Opel Frontera in Europe (or Vauxhall Frontera for the British folks).
Can hear those 3.2s from a mile away! I’ve never heard a quite one! They were so noisy!
I bet if the ac is original and that cold it might be an r12 system....those are awesome....id drive it
I may have to make a trip that thing is amazing
That's a Radwood show winner for sure.
Jebus.. I haven't seen one of those in ages.
A rodeo without a rusted frame?
Wow
I had a honda passport which is a re-badged Rodeo. What kills them is frame rot can't take salt and the automatics fail around 150k. This one's a manual but check the frame front and rear.
drop a comment down below let me know what you think
I put some 2 stroke oil in the gas it keeps the fuel pump happy
Nice 👍
I had the same year only green. I loved it, but the Ohio weather destroyed the frame
Would be a good off-roader for a steal of a deal
You ever do Montero sports or Monteros? They are actually super under rated and extremely tough
It looks like a new vehicle how have you been buddy
Runs, Drives and has cold air? These days anything under $5k is hard to find
You must not be looking then. Because I can find running driving cold air vehicles for less than a grand all day long. Not everyone tries to scam someone else out of money.
What a gem
Nice 😀
in australia they are holden rodeo and in ute form
I had a red rodeo before don't even remember what happened to the car it been so long
Getting a little closer to 100,000 subscribers!
I got 2 of these both are this clean I use 1 for parts same color tfs 12:22
I have a 2003 rodeo black with only 27,800 miles not 4x4 :( but it’s in incredible condition inside and out. What do you think I could sell it for. ? Located in Florida where it’s been it’s whole life so no rust.
Has there been any news about the trans am I could see it's still sitting in the same spot after u did the video of taking it out of the woods
Nice Isuzu 🇺🇲🚙😃
'little old lady' - 'person I or you can take advantage of'

Has it sold yet Jay?
Yes !
These are rebadged as Holden Rodeo's in Aus/NZ if you need to find better parts for them.
I want to see you hit 100k more than you do probably. 😂
Hey Jay, why you stopped recording using your camcorder?
My computer has died and I can’t edit the videos on there. My phone I can just mush them all together and make it work for now.
Honda Passport and this were the same, yes?

Need to change my surpentine belt..do you have a link?
I’m in Charlotte Nc, very interested in the rodeo if it’s still for sale.
I had one in pristine condition that i bought in Beverly hills in the recycler magazine 1900 dollars in w009 someone hit it at an uncontrolled stop light in north long beach and it was totalled
i got a 1997 chevy blazer 4z4 2dr with just over a 153k miles the motor has 140k on it.
Is it still available?
not bad.
I almost bout a 1991 Rodeo in 2009 I regret not buying it rust holes and all
