You really don't have to tell me what happened in 2010. I happen to know and I also happen to realize how pathetic it is to talk about 2010. in 2013. Things have changed. For some time things were getting better, but at this point, after Alexandrov's departure, Russian gymnastics are in extremely, extremely deep shit and it's only gonna get deeper. Americans dominate vault, floor, beam and all around field.
I have seen Simone Biles' training videos where she has already practiced two original skills that could be named after her - she performed double layout half out and is shooting for triple twisting double tuck. Mykayla Skinner is doing double double layout on floor. Ohashi has her full twisting layout on beam with around 7 points possible DV. Ross is upgrading. These girls are fresh and serious.
Their "team" consists of Mustafina who didn't get a decent break after the Olympics. She is tired, overworked and on the verge of getting seriously injured. She is the only one who still has decent competitive difficulty and execution, so the team relies solely on her. Nabieva is back but her difficulty and execution need serious upgrading and polishing in terms of worlds competitive scene. Afanasyeva, who also didn't have a break since Olympics is out and injured.
It's sad but true, but I wouldn't rule out anything just yet. Just because a gymnast sucks now doesn't mean they can't get better. People wrote off Douglas in 2011 and she become AA Olympic champ. Russia can put up a powerhouse if they have one they will. I know Russia can't wait for their new Produnova-like gymnast, but as of right now Russia doesn't need the Amanar. There are other vaults that have about the same tarriff and are much easier for them to compete.
What does this even mean? Yeah I have a question do you have a bronze metal at the Olympic metal? She may have fallen but name a gymnast that hasn't as of recent in a major competition.
I love those gymnast. They are very good. I wish people could see how these younger gymnast are so much more innovative than the last quad. I think that America has potential to do some great advancements in the sport, but even though they own in 2012 it seems that other countries were more innovative in creating new skills, so I am happy that USA is finally creating!
I personally hope she continues to try it and perfect it. She's only gonna get better. That and no matter how good for 2 twist vault is she won't generate the same numbers as with the 2 1/2 twist. Mustafina is a perfect example of that. Russia isn't interested in the Form, their interested in the numbers just like any other team in the world. As for your comment on Russia's vaulting, Mustafina will definitely get up their again and they will have 3 Amanars just the like the USA
They don't need them...their bars are so strong and now that the amanar has been downgraded that just -.6 tenths to any team preforming 3 of them. Russia just needs one gymnast that can preform one well lol. so she can keep working on it to get better for sure. Now there are some gymnast on vault that are going for a Produnova that does this same thing, but everyone praises her.
Yes that is a sad thing. Without Ohasi USA needs some bars, but I don't think there will be a team competition for this Worlds. So it will be AA and Event finals. USA has nothing for bars right now. They have a great chance on everything else.
It's not the question of form - Russian team is incapable of performing a clean Amanar in the sense that their vaulting looks like walking on a minefield - in terms of injuries. Their amanars are SCARY. We all remember what an atrocity Komova's AA vault was, and Paseka's amanar was NO amanar - Nellie Kim's intervention was the only reason it got credited for antyhing more than DTY. And that's the thing - we've seen Paseka in new competitions and she only got worse.
They don't have to be "American Perfection" they just need to have decent vaults to inch them closer. They rule the uneven bars, USA is NOWHERE close to russian Perfection on that apparatus. with 3 amanars and there bars, that should definteley be enough to challenge the USA. I never said they were gonna beat USA just because they have 3 amanars, i just meant they have a very good chance now. As far as Komova, she didn't do great on ONE of her vaults, that doesn't mean she can't preform it
I personally think its dreadful that her couches aloud her to perform these vaults, when she is clearly note in her best shape. No olympic gymnast should be made to make an embarrassment of themselves like this.
We all have to come to terms with the fact that Paseka sucks at Amanar and that Afanasyeva never completed one in competition, and Komova and Mustafina perform it to look as if their leg is gonna dislocate in 3 places. Russians love their girls lean and skinny and it's nice, but it's not gonna work. Find a little muscular monster truck like Sacramone, Raisman or Wieber and she'll be popping Rudis and Amanars like it's nothing (don't mention Maroney, she's an exception which confirms the rule).
really? have you have seen her preform at the universiade kazan 2013? Not only that but Afanaseyva now has the Amanar as well so Russia is set as far as vaulting goes. And don't exaggerate about Komova's vault on the AA. It is clear to even Stupidasses that those extra steps of the matt weren't because she couldn't get it around our because she was on to one side. It looks more like she just wanted to take those steps because her vault wasn't as good as she wanted
You have to take into account that one team having an advantage on vault is dangerous for the other team because vault is naturally high-scoring event, while on other events, mistakes can add up. Say that they even out vault with bars, what about floor and beam? I'm afraid of the beam, because Americans are steadier with nerves and they are less likely to lose it on beam. I'm afraid of the floor too, because they pop some seriously difficult stuff.
Paseka is extremely inconsistent on vault so i wouldn't trust her to preform it when it counts either especially the yr after olympics meaning she's not at her best. As for vaulting, the USA Barely started dominating it in 2011. In 2010, Russia had the bigger vaults, Komova was injured so she couldn't get the amanar ready for the 2011 worlds and mustafina was very injured in 2011 so she didn't even compete and couldn't get the vault ready for london. btw Russia won gold in 2010 over the USA
I actually hope she stops trying to do it. Her Amanar in London wasn't even completed and she was lucky it got credited. This was even worse. Not only her take-off form is atrocious, it's also her lack of height, and AGAIN, if you take a look, even with a way too early start of rotation, she STILL didn't rotate the full 2,5 twists. She should simply go for the lower start value and focus on good execution. Let's face it, at this moment, Russians don't have dominant vaulters.
My mistake - I haven't seen her Amanar. But each and every Amanar I've seen was bad and scary, they are nowhere near American perfection on that apparatus. Exaggerate? Exaggerate? She single handedly opened the door for Douglas with that vault. It was BAD. She couldn't handle the speed and force of her own vault, went to the side, took 2-3 justified steps (that combo is nowhere near good) and then she took a little walk with needless extra steps (showing her terrible attitude).
From what I've seen on US Classic 2013, fresh seniors are pumping up the difficulty, but they don't give a flying fuck about form, which is something Russians can take advantage of. For example, Brenna Dowell is ROCKING on bars, her difficulty is in Russian league, but her form is still atrocious.
Komova had a huge hiatus, the amount of her training time is questionable and she also pulled out due to illness. Paseka can't stick a consistent vault. Who's gonna replace Vika and Afan? Who can replace them? Nobody. They can pull in Rodionova and Pavlova, but they actually don't operate on "elite" level. Winning Europeans is miles away from winning Worlds. I mean, no biggie, one medal more or less - Rio is still far away, but Russians don't have depth of the team and they need to solve that.
Then again, as I said, from what I saw on Classic and P&G, Americans have an atrocious form on everything except vault and that's where they leave an open window for Russians. It can go either way when it evens out, but vaults have been a huge problem in Russian quest for gold for years now. They really need to solve it and while I am ready to give Afan chance, I don't really believe in Paseka's ability to hit a proper Amanar when it counts.
MustaFan why are you saying that? Maroney was deducted for the fall, and the score for the Amanar was fair. Paseka didn't even complete the twisting on the Amanar.. Let's be reasonable.
A gold in the Worlds in 2015, a silver in rio, anther gold in the Worlds in 2017. Double world champion!! Retired? No she will remain on the podium, like it or not
They don't have to be "American Perfection" they just need to have decent vaults to inch them closer. They rule the uneven bars, USA is NOWHERE close to russian Perfection on that apparatus. with 3 amanars and there bars, that should definteley be enough to challenge the USA. She's beautiful!

I would have cried too if had to see grishinas hair in real life
I have to agree...nothing to do with her gymnastics, but she is absolutely gorgeous...beautiful face
I hope Paseka can do the amanar in the world championship
I have seen Simone Biles' training videos where she has already practiced two original skills that could be named after her - she performed double layout half out and is shooting for triple twisting double tuck. Mykayla Skinner is doing double double layout on floor. Ohashi has her full twisting layout on beam with around 7 points possible DV. Ross is upgrading. These girls are fresh and serious.
Reading this 10 years later is a trip lol
actually the rotation was even better than at Olympics, but this time the height was the problem

Afanasyeva, who also didn't have a break since Olympics is out and injured.
obviously you havn't seen the universiade vault finals where both Afanaseva and Paseka performed some pretty good amanars.
Sorry paseka..:(
What does this even mean? Yeah I have a question do you have a bronze metal at the Olympic metal? She may have fallen but name a gymnast that hasn't as of recent in a major competition.
I really felt for her here, a home championships must be so nerve racking
I love those gymnast. They are very good. I wish people could see how these younger gymnast are so much more innovative than the last quad. I think that America has potential to do some great advancements in the sport, but even though they own in 2012 it seems that other countries were more innovative in creating new skills, so I am happy that USA is finally creating!
Poor Maria:( But she should really work on the double instead of the Amanar, she was so close to being injured here.
Nearly everyone was falling in the vault final at the european championships
I personally hope she continues to try it and perfect it. She's only gonna get better. That and no matter how good for 2 twist vault is she won't generate the same numbers as with the 2 1/2 twist. Was not a bad vault, she can handle this in the future.

how is she a vault specialist?? :/ She's good on bars tho...
that's true but, look, gym is her life, you saying for she stops all her life, just think about it, she deserves more
simply she had a bad day.
My mistake - I haven't seen her Amanar. But each and every Amanar I've seen was bad and scary, they are nowhere near American perfection on that apparatus.

Well that's rude...
olympic bronze medalist??? just retired already
MustaFan At least Maroney was given the fair score..

and then silver at Rio. Better to shut your mouth up from now on?
A gold in the Worlds in 2015, a silver in rio, anther gold in the Worlds in 2017. Double world champion!! Retired? No she will remain on the podium, like it or not
cts sam lol jajajajaj more sucessful than Maroney already
don't worry Maroney did it for her ;) LMFAO!!!

haha
Hahaha, nice! ;)
Paseka está mais magra!
