Roy Clark was a great entertainer, humble man & super talented. He was both a singer & musician. His guitar, banjo & fiddle playing are legendary. A lot of musicians & artists today could learn a lot from his style & technique.
Roy Clark was a wizard on anything with strings. You saw him give a master class on guitar, he also played fiddle, mandolin, and banjo. He was on The Muppet Show where he did the song Rocky Top, playing all four of those instruments, and sang a couple of verses. There is a version of Malaguena that he played on The Odd Couple..He played so fast; the camera couldn't keep up and show his strumming.
This was more of a comedy routine by Roy Clark, than a demonstration of his guitar talent. But make no mistake, he was one of the greats. A truly talented musician.
Roy Clark's big hit was a very beautiful and sad song called "Yesterday, When I Was Young" where he showcases his tender vocals. Also check out his lightning-fast guitar picking in the song "Twelfth Street Rag".
Hello Angel D Reacts, I know who Roy Clark was. I am glad that you have found him. I missed seeing this Jimmy Dean Show (he later became the breakfast sausage king). At the end of the month, I would have to collect payments for the newspapers that I had sold that month. Thank you for finding this fine video. Hey! "
Roy won the National Banjo Championship 2 times, back to back. 1st time when he was 14 and again at 15. At 16 he was on the Grand Ole Opry. If you want to her some GREAT banjo playing, checkout his album „A Pair of 5‘s (Banjo‘s that Is)“. It‘s a Bluegrass album. He made it with Buck Trent (another great banjo player). RIP Roy
Angel , I hate it when I have gasted flabbers. Roy Clark wasn't just a great guitar player he was an entertainer. I have never seen this one but now I want to check out more from him. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Thanks, Angel.
I remember Roy Clark as a host to a famous weekly TV Country Comedy Variety Show that ran from 1969 to 1997 called Hee Haw. He would usually pair with another Famous host on the show named Buck Owens. It was all skits with lame, but funny jokes usually with hot buxom chested country clad models laying around or playing parts as the typical naughty farmer's daughter type skits. (That's the only reason I watched it as a kid to see the farm girls). They would also have popular Country Singers on as guests to sing songs too.

Roy Clark was a comedian, a fantastic instrumentalist on just about anything with strings and he was a great singer.

Wow, can't wait to see that one, great suggestion xo
Mr. Clark is a master of about anything with strings. You don’t watch a Roy Clark performance for the vocals. You watch for the strings.

Not only can play any stringed instrument but also is a master of every genre.
If you want to see his talent check out him playing Malaguana on the Odd Couple show
Ghost rider in the sky with Glen Campbell is another great one, great reaction

Grew up on that show. Sunday night on ABC 7. @7 p.m. ☺️☺️☺️
Luther was Johnny Cash's guitar player, he was imitating Johnny as well. One of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Johnny Cash’s version will always be the best version of this song, but Roy could work with his guitar in ways Johnny never could.
If an instrument has strings, Roy Clark could probably play it.
Sometimes Mr Clark has comedy side, this shows it. Another good comedy country is Ray Steven’s “Mississippi squirrel”, “The streak”-Kenny
I will check it out xo
@ I hope you do and enjoy it. Keep enjoying classic country.

lol you have not seen nothing yet what Mr. Clark can do with a string instrument
Oh sure, Jimmy Page used a violin bow on his guitar, but that's only because Roy had used everything else already.
One thing about this song never made sense. If he shot a man in Reno, Nevada why is he in prison in Folsom, California?

That foolishness with his legs is him poking fun at Johnny Cash.
