This is astounding. I did get an FPS drop from 144 to about 108 but it looks spectacular. This is the work the devs should have done for 10 years. Leave it to the true fans to get it done in the end. Many thanks!
A very nice addition to the game. I see textures more clearly, the game looks fantastic. I did disable the one that mutes the colors some because I like the more vibrant colors, but overall it's a tremendous visual improvement. Thanks a lot!
Just started playing this on the new legendary server. Randomly found this video, didn't know reshade was a thing. My game looks so much better. Thanks man! Also used your loading screen files from your other vid.
This is so good, many thanks for making this video. :) I'd say it's worth playing around with the settings, I've activated the Technicolor setting and a few others, really makes the visuals pop. :)
Thank you for this - clear, concise setup instructions and the settings are awesome (didn't know this existed....) So great to keep finding improvements to a 16+ year old game.
During the install process with the newer version of reshade, you have to select effect files to include in the installation. Initially there's a few boxes checked but, should they all be checked?
Hello, like many others nothing will appear on the screen menu, although I put everyting in the right folder (I tried to place it at many different places). :'( I really want to try this!
hmm your video is way different than mine, not that i made a video, i followed a long but there was no option for lotro, and reshade put itself in the wrong folder. how do i uninstall it now and try find the correct folder? *edit* I went back and just installed it to the correct folder lol. I'm still not quite sure how to go about uninstalling it from the incorrect folder yet. Sorry to anyone who had this problem too. ^^ now I have 2 reshades until I can figure out what to do with the first erroneous file.
Not currently. The only option is to drop your resolution or play on 200-inch TV. There are plug-ins that can help with inventory bags and making them bigger. Lotrointerface is the website.
When I go into the x64 folder, I don’t see a ‘reshade’ file or files like you’re seeing…assuming I messed up the install somehow(non steam version if that makes a difference)? Thanks so much for this, lifelong Tolkien fan, just started the game yesterday
This is typically a directory issue, the files are being directed to the wrong place. To fix this you can scan your system for reshade.ini and find where everything has gone and manually put in lotro’s x64, or uninstall and reinstall reshade and point it to the correct directory in the installation phase. Make sure to manually delete the x64 folder if you uninstall/reinstall. If all else fails you can do a manual reshade install following the steps linked here: reshademanager.com/installation-guide
What if you downloaded the game via the stand alone launcher? I don't have LOTRO as an option when I run the reshader. I browsed to the Lotro Launcher in the folder where I have the game installed, but it didnt add anything to the x64 folder, it added a folder outside of that called Reshades. When i launch the game there is nothing like what I saw in this video, it doesn't seem to have had any effect.
Hey just wanted to say great video but I’m having an issue. I downloaded everything step by step and when I click the home key and click on the dadslotro I notice the game changed to be blurry and also noticed that I didn’t have any check boxes marked. I tried to mimic yours but I couldn’t find for example the AMD one. Hopefully I made sense and appreciate the feedback :)!
Also just wanted to add that when I downloaded the reshade and I had to select the LOTRO folder I had two of the 64 LOTRO options. Also wanted to add I have installed a reshade before in case that has to do anything with it. Again thanks in advance
Have to get Lotro to actually work properly on my system before I can even think about trying this. For some reason Lotro is the only game I have problems with. Looks good though, Peace.
Appreciate the video but when I tried the preset it essentially just sharpened and oversaturated the image, not exactly what I'd call an aesthetic improvement. I don't know what you did to make your game look like that but the reshade preset isn't it.
Reshade is an amazing tool but I've had a hard time getting it to look anywhere near as good as you've done here. If you could do something with WoW I'd love to see it! PLaying classic at the moment but you'd have a decent sized audience with retail!
I'm experiencing some problems. I've placed the file you provided into the correct folder. However, when I launch the game, I don't see the option to enable the .ini file, as was shown in your video. The only variation in my case is that I'm not using the Steam version of the game; instead, I'm using the main launcher from Standing Stone Games. Is it necessary to use the Steam version for this to work? Thank you!
@@feraxks So I fixed it by linking the Reshade application to the right LOTRO launcher file (lotroclient64). Once I figured out what that was, the file that @wowdadsgone provided needs to be placed in the correct file location. So on my computer that was in C:\Program Files (x86)\StandingStoneGames\The Lord of the Rings Online\x64
Yes all based off default brightness and other settings. That’s a great way to tweak things on your end tho since everyones display will be slightly different :)
It’s got a very slight performance cost but is basically just extra post processing of the image. I’ve only seen a 5%-8% reduction in fps, if you can run the game you can usually run this!
I play LOTRO on a 4k monitor and it looks great. Only issue are the menu boxes are so small. SSG did state that they are working on resolving that issue. No need for Reshade. Just play on 4k.
Reshading / post processing is irrespective of resolution, apples and oranges comparison, "Just play on 4k" is a bit of a pretentious (and ignorant) recommendation, not at all special in 2024 when there's 4k monitors under $200. 😂❄
You can expect a mild drop in frames, 15% max, this is mainly from the CAS sharpening which can be unselected if draining resources. More CPU heavy than GPU.
The easiest way I’ve found is to create a new preset with the plus button in top right and then don’t add any values to it so it’s “off.” Now you can swap between the 2 with the drop down menu.
Ty. I actually went to settings and made a hotkey for Effect toggle key. I made it the button above tab so if I hit that button, it just toggles it off and on.@@Wowdadsgone
@@Wowdadsgone There's an option in ReShade to keybind to switch between reshade or no reshade. So you can just switch it on/off wit hone click without having to open it all up again.
i forget the specifics on where, but you can locate a keybind area on the reshade window. from there you can set a keybind for toggling the shader on/off
if all the tutorial videos were like that, there will be no more war, starving and brocolis on earth. mega thanks.

Most simplest, straight forward tutorial I've watched. Hands up to you man, thank you!

Glad I could help!

I find this preset a lot easier on the eyes. The desaturated colours really improve the gameplay experience.
Excellent tutorial, thank you!

Very easy to follow tutorial.

Thx for sharing this!
Looking forward to trying this! Thanks!
legend, thank you!
Works like a charm. Thanks a lot!
does not look like the video ingame?
Really great
Thank you for the guide and the preset
did not work for me, followed the guide but for me the reshade only washes out all the colors. almost like a grey filter over the screen...

anything nvidia users need to switch to be optimal for our cards instead or?
After installation reshade appears in the backup folder of lotro and i can't open the reshade menu via home key. Anyone can help?
It would be cool to see some love for Project Gorgon
Does this only work with the steam client? Can't get it to work with the stand alone client it seems.
Does this work if you haven't installed through steam?
really affected my blues where can we go to bump up colors a little?
great tutorial! might have to do this if I can find a linux way to do it. great a new rabbit hole to fall down LOL

Same thing here
Same here!
I have the same issue... any fix?
Yeah. Don'd do id!🧑🏽
Doesn't work at all, I installed the Steam version and reshaded the folder correctly but the home button doesn't work
also I would love to see more LOTRO content, if you so choose 😁
Nice Job Wow🔥
The preset was fine, but now my screen goes fuzzy randomly. How do I fix this?

Is there something for resizing pop up windows in the game at 4k

Not Steam only. Just follow along to your usual lotro files

Is the ReShade program heavy for the computer? Mine is a i5 7th gen.
Lossless scaling will increase your fps. as of the last couple weeks.
