The motor plate is angled to keep oil in the bottom end of the engine under acceleration and flattens out the carb angle to keep gas in the bowl. It also is there for torque converters. But not the main reason. All race karts have the engine on an angle for this very reason. (I wrote this message twice and it erased so if there is more than one sorry).
