Y'know, rewarding people for doing the right thing does work, and as someone who would be in a situation of loving a person guilty of abusing someone else it would be my job and my prerogative to use positivity and positive reinforcement to get him to change, because the negative reinforcement is coming from every other direction. My hypothetical brother would hopefully not want to lose the respect of the people who still love and support him, and he would hopefully do what is necessary to keep those people from leaving like everybody else. If everyone just leaves and hates, and he's alone, and he thinks there's no way to win anyone back, and he acclimates to just being the villain the chance of being a better more responsible person has got to be lesser, because there's less to gain and nothing else to lose. He didn't get justice, he didn't get back everything he lost, but he is still allowed to do what he loves, and he has returned to some sort of normalcy. I hope Dem gets justice but justice feels like reaching for the stars sometimes, so more than that, I hope Dem gets to return to some sort of normalcy where he still gets to do what he loves.
