Labeling people “not human” is indeed dangerous. It can too easily lead us to conclude such individuals or groups are no longer worthy of life, and I think we all know where that can lead. We’re watching it happen daily on our phones.
Even though labeling someone that way is an understandable reaction, we should nevertheless try to avoid it if we hope to retain our own humanity.
I believe we can/should condemn the inhuman actions of individuals and hold them accountable, while also holding on to the hope that they might still be brought back to their senses to begin acting in accordance with their inherent dignity as human persons.

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Bisan's reporting in full because I know I won't be able to tolerate the heartbreak resulting from it.
I've only ever watched short clips and that alone has been enough to move me deeply.
All those trying to smear her work and name couldn't even bear a second of what she and everyone else in Gaza have been forced to bear these last horrifying months.
I really hope she wins the award. It won't end the suffering for those in Gaza, but at least her work will be recognized and will hopefully reach a wider audience.
