Went to many games down the old filbert street….pen 1, or pen 2 used to have an atmosphere like no other , chanting, crowd sway’s….it always felt electric every time I went , …..these new all seater library stadiums have got no charm personality or character …..just glad I had my footballing experience when I did….obviously safety is key….but somewhere down the line we lost that Saturday magic….but I guess you can’t stop the hands of time
@@historyoffootball87 makes me laugh how 5-6 thousand Leicester fans in the filbert street kop end made more noise than 32 thousand supporters at the king power stadium….oh well….. I guess this is what they call progress…..they’ll be getting there “cheer” Q cards out next lol maybe try the old football rattles next lol
Used to really enjoy going to Filbert Street with Charlton. The atmosphere behind the goal on the terrace was superb! All the best for the future Leicester City.
Leicester fan here, really miss filbert street. Wish we had been able to develop on to the ground and stayed. The atmosphere was always great and teams hated coming there.
Once again, a very enjoyable presentation. Coincidentally, one of Leicester Fosse's former grounds - maybe even their first- was called 'Buffalo Bill's Field', as 'The Wild West Circus' had once appeared there and our (Bristol Rovers') Memorial Stadium had also previously been known as 'Buffalo Bill's Field'!
I took my mother to watch Leicester City play Manchester City. They won as I recall, by some huge score - I think it was the wonderful 8-4 victory in 1958. But my memory is of a young boy's acute embarrassment as my mother's voice rang out at a silent moment, 'Come along, the City!' I think it was the only match she ever went to.
Very unusual to knock down a stadium and yet not develop most of the plot and building the new one a mere stones throw away. probably some kickback involved. Ive been to Leicester - seems to have a problem with planning and strategic thinking. Long history of Labour control? The city centre seems very strange- couldn't figure out any logic to it.
The final game was played there a month before my 2nd birthday but I would absolutely love to be able to go to a game there. Such a shit hole, but an absolutely gorgeous shit hole. Our shithole 😂🦊

I see a lot of comments that are the same. The new grounds might have better facilities but lack in everything else.

My dad took me to filbert street when I was 15 against wolves. I have been a Leicester fan for 50 years. I miss filbert street.
I prefer Filbert Street over The King Power.

There is a video someone did of the old Filbert Street site 3-4 year ago, it just sits empty with a block of student apartments at one corner.
I doubt the tories would do any better but there is a stench of corruption in terms of the city mayor Mr Soulbury.
Interesting video
Which stadium that does not exist any longer has been your favourite
Probably Highfield Road or the Estadio Vicente Calderón.
After Coventry moved from Highfield Road they have never became that they once were
But it is easy to forget how bad some stadiums were
