I like it. It’s them talking shop & daily career work. They’re not “on” the same way as on a podcast, so more like real life conversations & body language.
@@RyanHolidayOfficial Thank you! I just grabbed The Son and Pirate Hunters. This was helpful. I couldn't catch the title of The Son, and I kept misspelling Kurson trying to find Pirate Hunters. Keep these up. I love this raw format.
This helps us to understand that they are hard working entrepreneurs and intellectuals that are constantly hustling, grinding, and strategizing to improve what they’ve built.
You might be overanalyzing the situation. I could see a similar scene if I strolled through a bookstore or even an art gallery with a friend. I'm thinking about that person and trying to make recommendations that are interesting to them. Even when they are talking shop and publishing business later, they engage each other with questions and genuine curiosity. I love these videos; as @ideasatrandom9543 says, I like them not being "on" and being vulnerable to the camera.
They’re looking at the books they’re talking about. Plus they film these after they do the podcast where they’ve been staring into each others eyes for hours 😂

You’ve got to start listing the recommendations in the descriptions. Please. It’s hard to catch some of the authors and titles.
Agreed! Criterion’s closet pick videos always have a list of the picks at the end and it helps a lot.
Just added them

Ryan, you're the best!
I love these videos!
love these videos :))
I enjoy the idea of reading deep focus but watching cal not be able to focus on a conversation makes me scepticle.
Mark Manson envy is real
Nerd off. Cal just kept speaking over ryan.
A conversation between authors who just copy+paste from other books and pretend it's their own thoughts...yawn
Tough video to watch. 2 guys that don’t look at each other in the eyes when they talk and talk over each other. Ego competition
Ego is the enemy!
A little bit, yeah

You’re conflating social awkwardness with ego. They’re fans of each other, work in the same industry and are geeking out together!

It is hard to watch as the camera moves too much.. it is not steady...
