I'm curious to know if the overall plot of this Undertale recreation will diverge significantly from the original, as that would be the core theme of forgetting. While I'm excited about this project, even having made some submissions, if it follows the same story, it may lose a bit of its appeal. Unless the goal is really to make an experiment, and not really an AU as mentioned by the comment in the video. It would end up looking more like a repainted project One way I would solve this is to get like 10 persons played Undertale a long time ago but don't remember every detail, and we discuss the entirety of the game in a voice chat, with how the story unfolds from start to finish. We could even have different people describe each route (maybe someone misremembers some details about the genocide route which could lead to a novel scenario). We would note down everything that comes out of these conversations and fill gaps with memories or interpretations when possible and needed. Doing it this way could end up with something really interesting. For instance, someone might misremember Snowdin's layout, leading to new path in the recreation. Or they might forget why Alphys didn't evacuate Hotland during Genocide, leading to a new scenario. This approach could result in something unique and more akin to an AU. But this approach relies on finding people who genuinely don't recall much about Undertale, and with people wanting to show off how much they know about Undertale and in addition to people wanting to get credited (like that one message in the Discord showing very well that fact : "optimally, id still also get credited in that situation for attempting"), it isn't really possible I think. This enthusiasm can be a positive aspect of the project, nut it makes it difficult to implement this approach, as people's personal interests might overshadow the goal of creating something unique. I also saw some people having in this project some joke dialogues (like for "Despite everything, it's still you.", the following would get added "... Well difficult to know for sure, with dementia."), but that was 'half' rejected (as a stretch, why not consider Sans forgetting his promise to Toriel? That could be fun). Edit : This is me yapping much, but in the end, this project is a kind of social experiment : the goal isn't to create an AU but to recreate as much of Undertale as possible. All the previous paragraphs are just me throwing my thought out in the wild. But, still looking forward to this project.
