She has such good tone. Suggestion: you guys might want to put a shotgun mic on your talent. It’s a chore mixing between the direct guitar and the voice but a loud guitar amp is going to crowd out the instructions. She’s got good advice too. Her best piece of advice: better strong and wrong than light and right. Commit.
Bolt Music: ~ The model of Gibson "SG" that Celisse Henderson is using in this video is the "Les Paul SG Custom '1963 Reissue', with a Maestro Vibrola, in the 'Classic White'' paint finish. I'm not sure if the company still makes that model - , but none-the-less, at the end of this comment I am including the "link" to it's page at the Gibson website. Finally - , I have to concur with you - yeah, that model is _gorgeous !_ : www.gibson.com/Guitar/CUSGSY394/1963-Les-Paul-SG-Custom-Reissue-with-Maestro-Vibrola/Classic-White
Funny enough, i learned about playing and singing from my Rock Band days when I was a teenager. That coordination was what really changed a lot of how I saw how to sing and play. It was then about learning the chords, changes, and the strumming pattern when I picked up a real guitar. Muscle memory also helped.
Celisse, YOU are a WINNER. What a fabulous, sincere, sensible lesson that was. It all makes sense, and of course we have to get past the egoism of wanting to play full chords and sing at the same time. (Yeah, right. Let's go ahead and swear that we won't forget the lyrics. Man, I hate it when that happens.) Anyway, that was great. I'm going to check out your music now, and I'm sure that I'll dig it.
Great pointers! I’ll have to try the tip about just strumming along time get the rhythm down. Definitely agree that you need either the lyrics or music down as second nature to free up space for your brain to focus on the other.
I definitely will take her advice. ...I am a fairly good player, but I never considered myself to be a good singer. I can sing a little bit, but never considered myself as a front man. I'll work on the techniques she put forth here. As a side note, as soon as I spotted that beautiful SG with the 3 pickups and the Bigsby tremolo, I instantly thought about Etta James, I wonder if she can belt it out while jamming like Etta did! Great video, great instructions from a very talented lady!
Love Celisse! But holy sh!&*$*, the strumming is my issue, the rhythm. The other "sing & play guitar at the same time" videos out there don't nail it at all like this. Other's would say "try to hold a conversation while playing." I always thought that was dumb, but I would do that with scales :) Thanks for this!!!
Fantastic video! Clearly explained, and well played. The fact remains you are ridiculously more talented than I will ever be :-) but it gives me inspiration to try
IMO, at the end of the day it boils down to practice. I have found that at times i have developed the music to the words and other times i have added the words to the music. It is a weird separation in your brain, like hand independence in piano. Because then you have to work pedals in along with singing and playing and you sort of have to see it all with your inner eye. ya practice.....
Rosetta has simply come back via this woman. Just like Jimi came back via Prince and a Better musician. We come back through Our Bloodlines. Know that or not.
Celisse Henderson demystifies singing and playing at the same time! Like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

That guitar costs more than twice than my cat, and I have a $3000 cat. It should be said that it's not about what you play, it's how you play it.
Celisse is great. Great playing, singing and presentation of the lesson.
Great tutorial! That's the same guitar that Sister Rosetta Tharp, the inventor of rock'n'roll, used to play.
That's what I thought, once I saw that I just knew this was going to be awesome!!!!
Tharp was a pioneer. She did not invent rock'n'roll though.

Excellent advice and tutorial. I learned a lot, as she breaks everything down and explains it understandably.
Amazing. Thank you
Celisse, I hope you consider doing a rhythm lesson series on Truefire or another guitar lesson platform! Great job! Thanks for doing this.

Trying to look like Rosetta Thorpe
Rosetta has simply come back via this woman. Just like Jimi came back via Prince and a Better musician. We come back through Our Bloodlines. Know that or not.
@@MemoGrafix Prince was born before Jimi died 😂
Sister Rosetta Tharpe was rocking a Gibson SG long before Celisse came along.
Why is LIZZO tagged 💀
Not inspirational or helpful at all. Unfortunately this was just for marketing the Gibson logo and her brand. Wow cool.
