Probably not, but them not matching doesn't immediately make Unleashed a bad game. I *_will,_* however, say that I myself definitely don't think the game is perfect. I hate how high of a medal cost some stages were, and they were MAIN STAGES a lot of the time; hunting for said medals in the night stages is fine, but they just shouldn't've been included in the day stages, at least not hidden like they are in the former; Eggmanland being fully continuous was a great idea, but I think in the end it overstayed its welcome; etc. Now as for the Wii/PS2 version, a friend of mine actually theorizes a lot of the hate for Unleashed comes from mistaking those two versions as the main, or perhaps the Wii version was the only one they saw and were entirely turned off from it. No it shouldn’t. The game itself is buggy, has poor draw distance, poor voice direction, reused level themes AGAIN, bad original final boss, eh combat, last 2 Islands are just Kronos, the list goes on.
I feel like I’m the only person who unironically enjoys Labyrinth. From what I can tell, it’s meant to like Kirby’s Dream Course, and the spindash is intended to be used as the primary source of transportation rather than the admittedly horrendously slow walking. There’s even a fan-remake in the works similar to TT16B, called “Super Sonic Speed Course”. Honestly though it all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. I also enjoyed Sonic R and Superstars (the latter of which I’ll fully admit definitely has some glaring issues but was still overall a fun experience for me) so maybe I just have bad taste 😂

I would put Sonic 3D Blast, not because it is just that bad, but they tried to create a 3D platformer with a top down view while holding onto the sonic mechanics, at least the lore of Labyrinth tries to save face of why it controls that way, but 3D blast can get out of control real fast

One of the original devs @GameHut went back and made a ROM hack to improve the game and fix most of the main issues (including the momentum and physics). It’s available on the Steam workshop for Sega Genesis Class. While the director’s cut is objectively better, I even still enjoy the original version too.
The meme should have been the man having the Sonic Colors logo, the “GOLD” being the Wii and DS, and the “Painful Agonizing Failure” being the consoles Sonic Colors Ultimate released on.

Honestly if there’s any sonic installment I wanna see done justice is Black Knight. Like a game where sonic uses a sword was a genius idea, like take the combo and upgrade systems from Frontiers add a slow-mo slash Mechanic like in Metal Gear Revengeance and tie it together with running stages that implement the sword in inventive ways (like using it to climb by stabbing walls, surfing on it across water etc) and you’ve got a recipe for the most enjoyable gameplay in a sonic game since.. well frontiers lol
I'm actually surprised that sonic unleashed is gold. I've actually never been able to finish the game because it eventually gets hard to collect enough sun and moon coins to progress. Also some of the obstacles in the werewolf levels are a pain.

I honestly liked the werehog stages in Unleashed. A slow, GoW style hack and slash contrasts with the day stages in a way that makes them feel even faster.
Damn loved Sonic unleashed although I seriously hated the final boss battle well that and also the final part of the game with Eggman Land, those two I hated the most from the game but other than that,loved it! Especially the cutscenes they were damn BEAUTIFUL!

I don't know about Sonic Unleashed being gold, but it wasn't really a failure either. It was a good game overall, despite its flaws, particularly with the more advanced "Werehog by Night" stages. Don't know about the GBA of the classic, very first Sonic game for the SEGA Genesis being a failure, though apparently it's because if you get the Invincible Power-Up, the game becomes slow. As for Sonic Forces, that game was alright, but most of the stages were really short.

I've been absent for alot of the games outside of the three og games and mania but from what I've seen it really does look like after Colors they've said "yeah lets do colors again but play it way too safe". Again can't say for sure but it does seem that way.

This might be a hot take, but I actually liked the original Sonic 06.
The ONLY reason why is cause the multiplayer was fun with friends imo. And until P06 adds multiplayer I'll be waiting, patiently.
