I like your mounting idea, but the video was hard to determine what someone in the passanger set must endure. My wife will not put up with significent encroachment to her passanger seat space so I have to have something that is very streamlined. I have watched many videos about mounting radios in cars none of them seem to take into consideration the person in the passanger seat. Looking for ideas.
I agree it does take up some passenger seating space, but I since I don't want to drill holes in my car, and since I very rarely have anyone riding in the passenger seat, it works for me. I can understand your wife's concerns and the space left is determined on two factors: 1) the size of the vehicle and 2) the size of the passenger. I too am always looking for other ideas as well and so far have not come up with any.
Yeah...That installation on the passenger side would be a no go for my wife too. In the event my wife has to drive my SUV, the radios have to be mounted so as not to obstruct any controls. However, thanks for posting anyways.
Good Video, I noticed some response seem to think Lido is not a good option. You presented an option that seems work for you and it's 100% movable within the vehicle. I like that. I would not do the "tree" method thats what refer to your setup but it is an option and it works. The Lido product offer a solution for your equipment at least until you can figure out exactly what you want. Just curious any chance you can give your opinion on the Yaesu FTM-500DR. I stopped in at the HRO in North Dallas looked at one, to be honest , the build quality seems to be very sub par with Ham radio gear. That Giant VFO knob has no quality feel just a big plastic knob. no fluidity feel when turning it . Just seems like Yaseu is going for lowest cost to manufacture and highest price they can get. When say comparing it to the build quality of and FT891 night and day and those radios are basically the same price. Great video ,if I didn't have the skill set to fabricate my installation components I'd definitely look at Lido. Thanks again 73's
I am not particularly fond of the "tree" me method, but don't see any other alternative. If you have any suggestion, please share it. It's all a matter of available space.
Here is a no-holes option to mount or hold your mobile or HT radio. Lido Mounts have mounts for almost all makes and models of radios.
Great video, Thank You!
