Ben is the only reason I watched the element 14 channel. Smart and funny is hard to come by on youtube and Ben adds a certain level of charm to the videos that make them more fun to watch
I have watched maybe 6-7 E14 videos since Ben parted ways with them. Mostly because the interesting, funny, and entertainment factors are now missing. Only Ben would be worthy of the honor of fixing a Nintendo Playstation. Only Ben could defeat PieFace. Only Ben made pinball machine repair videos enjoyable.
Quit simping, jeeze! Sorry, I only jest! I can't stand the term, and just wanted to use this as a way to make fun of its absurdity. 🤣 "Hey look, they paid a compliment... _Siiiimmmpppppp!!_ You're such a simp bro, get a life!" _-YT comments these days_ ✌️
Hey Ben. I know how you feel about making videos. It's like when I do my repair Livestreams...I'm not that interesting but people seem to love them. I enjoy spending this time just relaxing while you repair something.
I'm always amazed how my videos that are 90% coding screens do pretty well. People love minutia and detail, something I often couldn't do on a show of fixed length.
@@BenHeckHacks Probably because the programs we used to watch used to have detail like this just split across multiple series. Now it's all about speed and flash and the details are glossed over for the punchlines. But the problem is all flash and no substance leaves us hungry still, just like that restaurant you were talking about.
This video had all (okay, well, a lot of) the essential Ben Heck ingredients... Bud, broken things, fixing stuff, element 14 stories, beer and cheese curds. I have been sated.
Buddy looks exactly like my cat Jonesie, he is lovely. They break stuff all the time, and use my CDTV box as a scratching post but you still love them I bet!
I think Louis Rossmann has the same issue with his cat Clinton. He (Clinton) just got his own flight on Louis's boss's jet. That has got to be the only way to fly a cat.
Oh, man, I had Loc Blocs as a kid! Pretty sure they came in a bucket. I hated those things because you could never get them apart. I was always jealous of my friends with real Lego.
LMAO! My dad used to threaten to throw all the Legos out in the middle of the night when he would step on one on the way to take a leak. I had some mega blocks too. they didn't fit the legos really well. I LOVED the Technic lego with the pulleys, belts and gears. All kids should have legos imo.
a little tip from a fellow C# programmer: learn WPF and XAML for UI, it's much easier to make native windows that have hardware acceleration and require much less work to get things to update and less resources when playing dynamic content. The UI design tools in Visual Studio are also pretty well made, as Visual Studio itself is developed in with that framework.
Ben has 90s dad vibes that I remember and enjoyed(still do) as a kid. Edit: lol... 12:38 or uncle vibes like Ben mentioned. I made the comment at the beginning of the video and nostalgia fueling a resurgence of retro game/stuff collecting, let alone Legos makes sense!
The answer to Lego is Harry potter. They had refused to do licensed things for years. But sales were down and their experiment with Bionicle wasn't helping. So they licensed out to Harry Potter, and Star Wars funded a completely recovery.
Your conjecture about Lego is not too far off. During the late 90's/early 2000's they internally refocused their company and lost sight of who their core audience was. They kept on failing to innovate for the audience that actually wanted Lego's. Then the first CEO to not be of the Kirstiansen family line stepped in (Jorgen Big Knudstorp) and refocused the company back to making products for a specific audience. So, you're not wrong. The Boomer audience they had focused on in the 90's/2000's was the wrong audience, and they've since been selling things to the Gen X/Millennial audience. Their IP spend is outrageous (Star Wars/Harry Potter/Nintendo/etc...) but their profits reflect that.
I remember my brother having Mega Bloks when growing up. I can't believe how Mega expensive anything Lego Branded is but who am I to say when I have purchased in adulthood many of their Lego City Collection.
At least it just stopped working when it fell... the AC adapter for my NiMH charger fell three feet off a desk onto carpet, and when I plugged it in all the blue smoke escaped.

Yeah, I think I recharged my beard trimmer twice in 2021. Some days I'd be in the office, and I'd be the only person on the entire floor, and there's like 400 desks. What's the point in trimming the beard if I'll see like half a dozen strangers a day tops.
I have a cat I have to segregate because he has no self control around food. Or things that seem like food, like fingers, chins, arms, etc. Cats are awesome. He doesn't actually bite down on me. But he does try to help me type when I'm coding or on zoom for work. ❤️
"I wonder what the voltage is" almost made me do a spit take. Perfect delivery
Well, the secondary...
I love how Ben got a cat cause his doctor said it would be good for him to move and be active. And now the cat is chonky ;)

The reason LEGO got back on track was all the license agreements they did.

Huh I have the exact same trimmer. Works fine, just only goes to 1cm at the longest which is short. Cool to see whats inside.

True engineer cant fly without beard. So, Ben, why don't you grow a true real beard beard of yours!
We had Lego but there were also “Tyco” blocks.
You can still make WinForms in crusty ol VB which compiles to the same interpreted language as C# anyway, and all the NuGet packages work on both
