    G'day from Australia. I just upgraded my rudder to the BDX ali type and the berleypro handle. It makes a huge difference to the steering control and tracking.
    Keep up the good work mate!

    What are the side clamps on the end of T-Bone extender? Who sells them? I actually use a T-Bone on the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

      That is called a lockrack system one of the best purchases I have made. If Mariner doesn’t have them try Lockrack.com. They are based out of Oklahoma.

    Biggest issue with stock steering is gap in the steering mast/drum. Put an 1/8” washer on the mast between it and the mast port. It’s a terrible design.

    I believe this is the 1st vid I’ve seen on youtube on the bdx rudder upgrade on the compass. So thanks for that!
    Do you think just the knob upgrade alone wouldve helped with hands free tracking? Or was the rudder upgrade necessary as well?
    Also, how was the install process on both?

    • @WormTV
      @WormTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Np, thanks for watching! My rudder was no longer straight and a slight bend in it so that was an issue. You could always just start with one or the other give it a try and see how it feels. I really think the bigger rudder has helped with tracking and the handle with just holding you in the direction you want to go without having to always re-correct it. Installing the handle is easy getting the knots out of the line attached took a few minutes. The rudder install is pretty simple as well just make sure you put the spring back in correctly it can be tricky. Lots of guys got vids on that install so check it before you decide to do it.

    looks like you have the hrail along each side, in addition to the front. I watched the front rail install video, very cool. Do you have a video of the side rail install?

    • @WormTV
      @WormTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, sure don’t but I did use the same h-rail bars with the tracks as well so I have the option of using the mighty mounts or the track mounts. The right side bar I had to slightly cut shorter with the cup holder in the way but it worked out great. I really just mounted those bars with stainless steel hardware with a 1in washer and nyloc nuts.

      @@WormTV One of the issues I have read about was access to the rear bolt for attaching the washer. Do you have a rear hatch (6" round) installed?

    • @WormTV
      @WormTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tbloutdoors3014 Yeah I did install a 6 in Hobie twist hatch to get back there. One way to get around that issue is to get a hold of a couple 1/4 in well nuts or bigger to mount the rear of those bars without having to get inside the hull. Those will work just as well.

    Love the video.. just a quick question.. do the h rails get in the way of the steering at all? I want to do the same rail set-up on my compass with the same rod rack

    • @WormTV
      @WormTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not really at least not enough for it to bother me. There seems to be plenty of room just watch where you mount the railing. I feel like I mounted mine pretty close to me near the seat so there was enough space between the steering and the rail.

    what are the rails that you have on the keel? which size is that? Would it fit on top of the existing screw holes of the bungee?

    • @WormTV
      @WormTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Rails up front are from the newer Outback called H-rail upgrade bars for the rear of the outback. These bars have a track mount but here is the video I did on that.

      @@WormTV Thanks you, so the size is fit? or you did trim some off?

    • @WormTV
      @WormTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I believe I had to trim off exactly 1 inch on the bars for it to line up.

      @@WormTV great to know that we can do this, I keep it on car roof upside down so I can't do the rail in the middle section. now I have this new idea :) yay

    You don’t need the tailgate extender. Turn the kayak to an angle and get yourself a 20 foot strap to wrap around the back
