These 90 DCs are one of the best values in used guitars today. I just had my mid 90s DC 200 refret with SS jumbo Jescar. Pickups aside the guitar feels very close to my Wood Library Custom 24 . Every bit as smooth and equally refined. I freaking love it
That appears to have the Carvin c22 pickups, that are based off of Paf designs and have one roll of scews. If you want metal you want the Carvin m22sd pickups, the m22sd's have all hex poles.
Yea it was the c22s. I sent this back but have a CT3 on the way! The was something wrong with the truss rod in this one i foudn out after filming this. I set the neck relief to .010 which Carvin suggests .010 to .015 i think. Anyway i tried to give it more relief and the rod was seized or something. It wouldn't turn.
So when this guitar was made 30 years ago it was one of the best guitars you can buy. Nowadays the options are much better and also the choices are more fast for what you can get with your money. If someone were to buy one of those swap out the pickups and set it up the way they wanted it would definitely be a great doomstick, I know those were Market focused primarily on the old-school shredders and cock rockers. I've owned quite a few Carvin guitars I always ended up selling them for one reason or another. And they were not big regret guitars either because years later I didn't have seller's remorse. I mean am I end all the music you are playing on that or Screaming good. It sounds great but I guess more in a live setting you're going to hear the imperfections. But it has the old school thrash metal sound what the pickup
It’s pointless imo to make a guitar that is basically unable to be customized 99 times out of a 100 players are gonna eventually want to swap pickups and we as players want it to be easy and cost effective so carvin takes is to the face on this one

I really like the body and headstock shape and the overall look of the guitar, but I wish it had better hardware.

Yep. Truss rod issues so it went back but i have another on the way and someone already dropped some lace nitro hemi's in it!
