- In this side story, I cover DSP's history with depression and mental health. The King of Hate has had a history where he has made a mockery of mental health and regularly insults people on DSPgaming. DSP would use his depression as a shield against criticism and then attack people and their mental health as a way to invalidate them.
DSP, Dspgaming, DarksydePhil, The King of Hate, an infamous let's player that was once successful and became a Lolcow over time. This series will be a lolcow documentary that will follow DSP from his origins in the fighting game community through his success and failures, his battles with detractors and through the present day. I was introduced to Dsp with the DarksydePhil Down the Rabbit Hole, which stopped around 2016/2017. Since then, so much has happened that fascinates me and after watching Geno Samuel's Chris Chan series, I wanted to spend a whole lolcow video series on DSP's past and how it echoes into the present. DSP, a let's player that was initially popular became a lowcow due to darksydephil's this is how don't play videos. We will explore DSP's origins, rise to fame, and fall from grace. In the series, we can see DSP's WWE champions/Mobile game addiction there from the early days. We will witness how This is how you don't play affects DSP and his career. And ultimately see if DSP could have done anything to stop this downward trajectory. Please do not Harass the subject and those that have interacted with them. I always love how he uses the word context, which in Phil's flippant rant in original person talking about depression was less than 1 minute. Including Phil reading his message, making his joke about depression, and condescending to person that Phil playing video games is much worse. There's the Khantext pigroach.
yeah in phils mind you can NEVER post the entire context. cause the entire context is his life, all of it. even if you point to a video on his channel that you recorded and uploaded he says you took it out of context. or is angry that you "stole" the video. its also one of the reasons why he doesnt upload the raw streams. cause hes afraid of them, afraid that he cant hide the chat if he did. thats why he has unrecorded segments too. @@bbqking68

There's nothing you can do with Phil at this point, so the fact youtube allows his streams on the platform is really worrisome; youtube never cares about the audience unless it affects their pockets
He should have been banned following the masturbation stream; it's a testament to TH-cam's values that they allow people like Phail, Cyraxx, Daniel Larson, KingCobra to use their platform, but ban or strike the people that expose them..

When your life sucks, and you're sad; that's not depression that's just the correct emotional response to reality. When you seek attention online, get backlash and blame it on depression you're a p.o.s.

I would normally stick to the rule of "don't touch the poop" but if there's something that makes me want to buy a plane ticket to Seattle, go to the snort fort and kick his teeth in, it's this. This parasite doesn't know what depression is, he just feels sad and worried sometimes, probably when the gin runs out and the pulls didn't go the way he wanted to. Depression is something that he never experienced, the way he mocks it and how he uses it as a shield to hide behind really makes my blood boil.

This kind of stuff triggers the fuck out of me when Phil does it. He has people reaching out for help in his chat and instead of trying to be genuine and help, he ridicules them and makes it all about himself and how bad his depression is. Phil's depression is worse than everyone else's and everyone needs to realize that no matter how bad things get, Phil has is worse. Oh, and don't reach out for help because that makes you a troll. I think that's the worst part. Every time someone does reach out to him and his community for help, he calls them trolls and bans them. That's the absolute worst thing you can do for someone who is reaching out for help. This shit right here is why, no matter how bad things get for Phil (and they're gonna get worse as he loses more and more whales), he doesn't deserve an ounce of your sympathy.

Phil is not depressed. I don't believe for a second he has ever been diagnosed. He has just seen others use it to deflect and so he's copying them.

In all fairness, if I was Phil, I’d be depressed as fuck. No friends, no social life, no savings or financial security, no career prospects, mocked by the entire internet, and after Phil being spotted in the wild with another female, it seems the divorce arc has started too.
@@CarlBriggs861The key issues I have with Phil saying he has depression, largely from his initial video where he "came out" with it:
1) He said the thoughts are at the back of his head & neck. Depression is most poignant in the front and mid-section of the brain: the areas that handle cognitive thought, emotional processing, and hormone regulation. This is one of the reasons for why depression triggers crippling levels of executive dysfunction. I have never once heard someone describe the thoughts or feelings of pressure, as being at the very tail-end of the brain; and I have a lot of experience with it, both with myself and others. Even saying "I have thoughts in the back of my mind" is metaphorical, and still refers to the matters relating to the frontal cortex.
2) Depression is largely found in those who have either a higher IQ, higher emotional IQ, or who are overtly self-aware and self-critical. Phil is *none* of these, by any stretch of the imagination. As a narcissist, he hates himself deep down; but by the time it reaches any point of the meaningful self-reflection necessary to trigger a spiral, his ego has already convinced him that he's not the problem. Those who think their crap doesn't stink, will always spin another reason for why nobody wants to stay in the toilet with them.
3) Every correct description he made of depression were extremely vague, and sounded as though he'd listed them directly from a website. He didn't and likely couldn't pinpoint anything you wouldn't read from the homepages of the first search results. His emotional state was also far too level: bear in mind he was supposedly admitting formally for the first time, to the general public as a whole, that he was in a dark place. But there was no *genuine* breaking down crying (no tears, flushness or shaking); no signs of dissonance; no dissociating; no signs of excessive fidgeting (beyond his usual self); no signs of panic or breathlessness; or loss of words...nothing. He wasn't getting caught up in his thoughts at all, not feeling overwhelm in the slightest.
I can't formally diagnose him, for I'm not qualified to do so. But as far as I've seen, Phil suffers from circumstantial blues, impatience, and addictions; not depression.
[Side note: addiction can be a symptom of depression, but is not inherently a sign of depression. It can fill the space of both hormonal craving and/or emotional emptiness].
It’s pretty telling what kind of person Phil is with his full response. He adds information in to his explanation that straight out did not happen.

Deflecting the blame by using his usual out of context claim, is one thing. Then proceeds to put the blame on the person who commented because he wanted to "'derail the stream". Gonna call that a joke, but it's also stretching a little bit. Like, yeah, he's a loser and a douchebag, and he definitely deserves to be called out for his actions and to have jokes made about him for his lack of entertainment skills, but harassment just wastes everyone's God damn time and makes the peeps that do it look just as bad as him, if not *worse* than him.

@@bachilles3285 I get what you are saying, but there is already so much ammo against the DSPig that almost anything would be justified. On another note, keep in mind that our hatred of him is built and kept alive almost daily, so it's not like there is some big harassment campaign going against him about stuff that happened a decade ago and he has since then become a much better person. The Dent Sea Scrolls unravelled that he has been a horrible person even during the FGC days, but has certainly got only worse as time passed on.

I learned a lot about him from this channel, to be honest it took me like 10 minutes of unedited clips from dsp to see how much of a pos he is but the more you dig the more you see how irredeemable he is (why redeem if you did nothing wrong and everything correct) with 0 redeeming qualities, like absolutely none, this is the kind of guy that wont even pee on you if you were on fire

If you've ever had depression and made it out, you understand the incredible value of a simple kind word, and that when people mention being depressed they are fishing for help.
I doubt many of the people that have claimed to have depression to DSP are for real, but you've got to handle them all as if they were because your reaction can have a huge impact on the rest of someones life.

I have no doubt that he has depression, but since he never seems to do anything about it other than farm sympathy from it while being incredibly dismissive of anyone else with any mental health issues or any kind of neurodivergence, I have no pity for him. He's an asshole and he doesn't care about anyone other than himself, and he always has an excuse for what he does instead of being introspective.
