3 years ago, I went to school with pants that had some holes in it (it was like regular pants that everybody was wearing and you could buy them anywhere). The director (female) stopped me in the hallway and asked me if I've forgotten anything. I got kinda confused, and when I asked what she was talking about, she answered *"did you think this place was a whorehouse?"* I have to say, 14 years old me was kinda shocked by that. She then told me to also remove my makeup. I locked myself into the restroom and I cried + I called my mom, crying, obviously, and told her what happened even though phones weren't allowed at school. When I went to the cafeteria after that, the director came straight at me (I instantly guessed that my mom had called her) and she said "you know you're not allowed to use your phone at school. It's forbidden." At that moment, I had the biggest panic attack of my freaking life. Also, sorry if I made some mistakes, I'm not an English native speaker
There is absolutely no reason to enforce a dress code meanly to say the lease just a simple warning the first time and reminder when’s student wears something is all that’s needed. At my school kids use their phones during class WAY too much. However saying no phones whatsoever is a little too much. There should just be a rule that they have to stay in your binder the whole day. I’ve seen kids on their phone in class not even hiding it just sitting there on their phone and the teacher is looking right at them at times and says NOTHING. That was kinda baffling to me.
Dress codes should be very plain and simple: Don't come to school naked, don't wear anything related to gangs or with obscene pictures or words. Other than that, wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
My dress code is not to where anything relating to gangs and not showing your belly. I'm good with the gangs but belly seriously they even aloud to wear booty shorts. We all had that one time when you raised your hands and your shirt went yeet. Right?

@Revoque Chegmester If you're wearing booty shorts or a miniskirt you're not naked, so... As long as your private parts doesn't show I couldn't care less
Its not the shoulder thats the problem, its the fact that shirts that reveal shoulders usually show more skin and people will take full advantage of it.

What's so distracting about nose rings tho- Luckily, we dont have strong restrictions over piercings as most of them only have piercing on their ears and noses ✨
If you get in a fight (talking bout females now) those rings? Hoops? They finger going right through them and our goes your nose and ear. That's what my parents told they banned then for
I don't know about America, but I'm from India and certain cultures here require the females to get nose and ear piercings and wear rings/studs in them. That's why, nose and ear piercings are allowed in many schools. I'm curious, do American schools make exceptions in these cases?
Simply put, teachers are held to a different level of trust than students, it would make sense that then they would be trusted more and have more lenience on what they wear?..
catfish. Trusted with their own bodies?? I didn’t know a school board got to decide when I could be trusted with my own body. The human body has been around since the beginning of our existence. Why are we still so uncomfortable with it to the point that we can’t show our damn shoulders.
School: GIRLS SHOULDERS DISTRACT BOYSSS!! Girls: well guys walking around showing their underwear is also distracting and what do you do? n o t h i n g
Fr tho I'm not even attracted to boys but it's so distracting when they show up to school with their pants down to the knees. Like, I don't need to see your underwear thankyaverymuch.
Dear school: If a girl who likes girls can control herself around a girl in tank tops/ off shoulder clothes and skirts/dresses, then i don't think its the clothes that are the problem :/
Guys who like girls are very different from girls who like other girls. Guys are more visually wired than girls are (generally speaking), so I can guarantee that guys are going to be far more easily distracted by provocative clothing than lesbians would. I am being a bit of a devil's advocate here, though; as long as you don't show up to school looking like a hooker or pornstar, the only people who would even bat an eye would be the teachers. Back to not being a devil's advocate, though, they do have to draw the line *somewhere*, and I'd say it's better to err on the side of overly modest.
In my school, which is public, Everyone makes a big deal if your not straight, it like - "Only boys who knit are gay" "Only gays wear skirts" "You callin' me gay? Are you?Are you?" In a very progressive voice So uh,your doomed if your gay in my school.
@@badwulf714 Visually wired or not, it's ridiculous that we as a society accept so little from men in terms of self control. We expect more from dogs than we do human males. Hell, you can train a dog to have self control when it comes to being horny and humping people and furniture, but men are just expected to become completely useless the moment their dick tickles. We aren't expecting you to not feel things, or trying to punish y'all for erections. We're just saying that some horny teenage boy is not the responsibility of his female classmates. Girls get aroused too, but most don't let those feelings turn them into goo-brained idiots with less self control than a horny rat-terrier. Boys are not slaves to their dicks, stop trying to blame others for your own failure to act civilized. Also, recent studies point to women being just as visually stimulated as men. Men like to bring up that whole 'men are more visual than women' trope to try and explain why porn is more popular among men than women. Maybe women just don't like the idea of supporting an industry that exists to degrade and commodify them, while men like picturing themselves in the position of the male doing the dominating.
@@maggieofHawaii There are dress codes for men to, to keep them from distracting girls too though. It's just guys clothes don't push the envelope as much as girls clothes do, I promise you, if you started trying to push that envelope, the school would seal it with wax real quick. All it takes is 1 to cause a problem. Another issue is also, they're in high school usually. Everyone's high on sex hormones, so something an adult would be able to completely control themselves for, teenagers find more difficult. Not to mention that they haven't learned where the line is on trying too hard lol. Girls and guys alike are constantly gossiping about each other, eyeing up each others bodies, and hitting on people on the border to being considered sexual harassment lol. They'll learn. Mind you, not all of both parties do it, but.... they exist.... I'd dare say most teenagers are like this, at least that's been my experience, but I'll lean on the safe side and say at least half.

Because children have no legal right to fight back. And their voices aren’t taken seriously unless what they’re talking about lines up with an agenda. Half the time it seems school boards just add on rules for the sake of undermining parents authority and forcing them to change behaviors for the sake of control. This gets joked about a lot but school overreach is actually a serious problem that’s only gotten worse over time. And not a lot of people give it any serious thought.

ITS BECAUSE THE DIFFERENT GENDERS HAVE DIFFERENT BODY PARTS. Boys can’t wear shorts that are 2 inches above the knee, but girls can wear bootie shorts. YOU GIRLS ARE JUST SO SENSITIVE ON EVERY TOPIC!
So one day, I was wearing one of those stretchy dresses and we had just had a fire drill. I had to run to stay with the class and directly after we got back inside I got dress coded, because my dress was wrinkled up a little bit and rode up a little high. Might I add that it was the last class of the day. Idk it kinda made me angry given the circumstance
They can’t know about our ankles, shoulders, neck, collarbones, hair, feet, knees, thighs or waist Yeah like I’m sure someone would fall in love with my seaweed hair.
@Speaking Truth Certain styles of dresses are a trend...I get them for LESS than $10 at Ross 😒 The only teens I know who can afford branded clothes are teens who can afford them. If they buy branded clothes, what's it to you? THEY CAN AFFORD IT. Being a teenager comes with challenges that current and former teenagers know all too well. That's a fact. It's also a fact that wanting to get a certain reaction out of people by what you wear affects people of ALL ages...
AND...yes, MOST dress code rules are unnecessary. Stomach visibility is only a problem to people who EXPECT you to be self conscious enough to NOT want to wear a crop top. Sexualizing breasts, butts, and legs doesn't seem like it's going anywhere anytime soon, so rules regarding that are plausible, but I'll be damned if some hating ass 50-year-old math teacher with a sexless marriage is going to make me take off what GIVES ME CONFIDENCE...If there's no pain when trying to break out of that shell of "people pleasing", there won't be confidence and self-worth to gain....
@Speaking Truth You know what? You've kept your composure through the arguments. But, bottomline is that teens EVERYWHERE ride out their WHOLE high school career getting "dress-coded"....You know this. Crop tops ain't going anywhere, tank top ain't going anywhere, and neither will their presence in schools.

As someone who is from the Netherlands (where we absolutely dont have dress codes), it still confuses me why the hell USA schools have dress codes. I mean, we dont have a dress code and we have one of the best education systems out there
Anke if it helps, schools want all the students to be focused and dress codes are so sexist to the point that only girls are really affected. Like how in some schools girls can’t show their shoulders. Somehow it hasn’t gotten to the principals and such of the schools that most often, we can’t buy modest clothing in stores unless it is an oversized sweatshirt. My solution to the dress code is wear a sweatshirt and jeans from the first day to the end of the school year. That or put a leather jacket over shirts and tank tops.
In my school we also don't have dress codes (Mexico) you can wear whatever you want and no one is going to say anything. Even teachers complement students outfits when they are good
I hate how one of the guys said "It's probably A because maybe in that school boys aren't allowed to wear sports wear but women are" Like HELLO???? It's always the opposite, the girls can't show anything but when the boys do it's okay
Look I would get "dress code" if girls were trying to come to school in bathing suits or naked... But we're not... So ripped jeans or a tank top isnt that bad and it isn't exactly your choice... Life is short ya know.. I'm we're whatever the hell I wanna we're... I know my boundary's

The lady teachers both mentioned girls dressing for attention while one was wearing a low cut top and the other would still be violating some dress codes. They probably weren’t wearing those shirts for attention. Most people, teenagers included, don’t dress to “get attention”. Some do but they are the minority. Most people dress in what they view as 1) figure flattering 2) unique or the trendy for the opposite 3) a nice colour keeps them warm or cool depending on the temperature 5)all they have clean as it’s laundry day or 6)it could be a hand me down or gift. Most of the time when people say they dressed for attention they are just openly admitting to sexualizing a person and putting the blame on them for their body.
@@mewesquirrel6720 that doesn’t mean she understands the psychological of dress choices. I have also been a teenager at one point and spend time with them at my work. Neither of the things you listed make her personal opinion more valid.

Yup especially in Florida girls are expected to wear conservative clothing no shoulder and skirts can’t be too short and no v necks for girls. In jersey city no where I’m originally from they solved this with having to wear school uniforms which were typically black polo and khaki pants or skirts
the school systems with the dress code tells girls they should feel confident but not TOO confident because its "slutty" also teaches anyone that likes girls that it's okay to sexualize girls if they're wearing different clothing

Actually, I think if someone contests this and threatens to take it to court, they’ll be forced to change it because having a rule for one gender and not the other is sexism. I’ve seen a lot of dress codes be changed over the last few years because of this.
It bothers me that teachers assume that kids wear certain clothes for attention. It seems that they've forgotten that teens are exploring and getting to know themselves. The types of clothes they like are included in that. Some clothes are inappropriate, yes, but schools take it too far very often.
I feel like girls fashion just tends to lean more on the revealing side. At my school, girls can wear all the things guys can wear (and vice versa) but just not much more revealing than that. Like if women wore the T-shirt and pants that guys usually wear (men aren't allowed much else either in most dress codes), theyd be perfectly fine but to be 'cute' and 'stylish' they wear things that generally show more skin or cleavage, or maybe midriff. So my thing is, the dress code is equal, society just sees it more acceptable for women to go beyond the standard than for men too.
Mickey Jem I’m a girl, but gender shouldn’t matter anyways. there are so many schools where guys can’t wear tank tops, wear makeup, have dyed hair, have long hair, have buns, braids, makeup, leggings, painted nails, sandals, shorts above the knees, etc. when girls can do ALL of those things at the same school. At my school, girls can wear shorts mid thigh when guys will literally get sent to the office when their shorts are slightly above their knees. what got me pissed off was my gay friend being sent home because he was wearing makeup. I then spoke up to the teacher saying how I was wearing makeup so why can’t he and I also got sent to the office. It’s goes both ways.
2:26... "Makeup can be weared" WEARED? i thought you'd say Worn like its past tense. Make up can be worn. Have i been wrong this whole time or is this teacher wrong.
one time a girl at my school had a tank top on and they tried to dress code her and she printed out the section of the handbook that said she was allowed to wear it if her bra straps weren’t showing and she highlighted it and handed it to our principal during lunch. so they kinda stopped dress coding us after that bc they didn’t want to deal with us anymore hahahahah
If i had school this will be my dress code: Don't come naked Don't reveal private parts Don't wear something that has inappropriate text, pictures or signs
Okay so I get the fact that you can’t come to school in shorts where your butt’s hangin out and in a shirt that’s veryy low cut. But these rules are ridiculous.
No open toed shoes for anyone at my school. I get that though, because we are an open campus (all hallways outside) and we kinda got rattle snakes and junk
At my school we are no longer allowed to wear rips above the knee, but we can wear shorts and guys can wear short shorts. That totally makes sense🙃 The assistant principal walks around with a ruler and tape. My school cares more about dress code than bullying
jac0b the point is that guys have so much more freedom to dress how they want and I get sent home for wearing a rip that shows absolutely no skin on my thigh

hannah barnes IKR. it’s the boys and teachers, they need to do something about them instead of us! >:U
In my school, which is public,
Everyone makes a big deal if your not straight, it like -
"Only boys who knit are gay"
"Only gays wear skirts"
"You callin' me gay? Are you?Are you?" In a very progressive voice
So uh,your doomed if your gay in my school.

Speaking Truth you’re probably a 50 yr old white man, shut up 🙄
@Speaking Truth Certain styles of dresses are a trend...I get them for LESS than $10 at Ross 😒 The only teens I know who can afford branded clothes are teens who can afford them.

TH-cam Lm IKR like bruh when I have like a cute shirt on but got jacket on too and I have to take my jacket off because my teacher told me to and what I take of and my shirt is like a shirt that long but your shoulders show and I get called to principals office because my teacher told her that I’m not following dress code I be like you wouldn’t know that if you would’ve let me keep my jacket off
Yeah, im so used to my school dress code that I feel like I might get in trouble for wearing shorts and a tank top at HOME
A bit exaggerated
in pe, 2 boys take off their shirt and run around the gym.
Our school is guys can’t wear tank tops but girls can
Woah really???
Same.
Its so sad that there are too many differences between a man and a womans dresscode.
Gracie Gordon // other way around for us 🙄
guys cant wear tank tops at my school cause of armpit hair lmao
Our principle got rid of our leggings rule because of how much backlash he got from parents
lol
Not only is she a teacher but she also was a teenager too. She knows what she's talking about
@@mewesquirrel6720 that doesn’t mean she understands the psychological of dress choices. I have also been a teenager at one point and spend time with them at my work. Neither of the things you listed make her personal opinion more valid.
Lol figure flattering? Why on earth would you flatter your figure if it wasn't for attention? Not that a little attention is a bad thing.
@@MonarchPoolPlaster Because you want to like the way you look? I don’t like people looking at me in public as it stresses me out but I always feel better about myself when I like the way I’m dressed and the way the clothes fit. It is beneficial fo ones self esteem and body image.
girl: *has shorts that are slightly above fingertips.*
teacher: *im about to end this girl's career.*
you said man when it said girl lmao idrc im not a grammar police, just warning u so grammar police don’t come @ u 😂😂
that doesn't even make sense and you just copied me
Don’t you guys know that “guy”, “man”, “men”, or “gay” are aimed at men, but women can also use it? “Men” is another word for human. Examples: Man-made (meaning not natural; Humans made it)
More like
Me: Wears anyhting slightly above the top of my knee
My mom: *im about to end this whole girls career*
@@iisunny6816 it's a popular phrase lmao wtf
Wait! So this is a serious thing in America?!
Edit: I'm from the Netherlands and we have no rules at all about that. I never thought it was such a big deal in America. I'm sorry. Hope that changes because it sounds ridiculous.
oh yea....it sucks especially when 75% of girl clothing is short, ripped, cropped, or tight
Yup especially in Florida girls are expected to wear conservative clothing no shoulder and skirts can’t be too short and no v necks for girls. In jersey city no where I’m originally from they solved this with having to wear school uniforms which were typically black polo and khaki pants or skirts
the school systems with the dress code tells girls they should feel confident but not TOO confident because its "slutty"
also teaches anyone that likes girls that it's okay to sexualize girls if they're wearing different clothing
@@Battle-Bunn1e that really sucks!!!! I'm in Nj and some schools really have it so strict your shopping from the old lady section for something that is school appropriate
yeah its so annoying especially in florida cause its like so hot and humid! Not being able to expose shoulders or thighs is exausting i have to wear legging or jeans in 90 degree weather
my schools dresscode says boys can’t wear makeup unfortunately:(
Someone write a paper on that they may change it if enough do
Actually, I think if someone contests this and threatens to take it to court, they’ll be forced to change it because having a rule for one gender and not the other is sexism. I’ve seen a lot of dress codes be changed over the last few years because of this.
Sexists!
In mine boys can't have their hair longer than their shoulders, one of my friends did and they made him cut it. Ugh
Damn
I have a thing for guyliner
It bothers me that teachers assume that kids wear certain clothes for attention. It seems that they've forgotten that teens are exploring and getting to know themselves. The types of clothes they like are included in that. Some clothes are inappropriate, yes, but schools take it too far very often.
The thing is that a lot of people do it for attention
Are dress codes aimed at girls yes like
No comment
Mickey Jem :)
So my thing is, the dress code is equal, society just sees it more acceptable for women to go beyond the standard than for men too.
nope.
Jimins Pencillium are u a guy or is your school just not like that
Mickey Jem I’m a girl, but gender shouldn’t matter anyways. there are so many schools where guys can’t wear tank tops, wear makeup, have dyed hair, have long hair, have buns, braids, makeup, leggings, painted nails, sandals, shorts above the knees, etc. when girls can do ALL of those things at the same school.
Is The teacher with a green sweater looks like the girl from Bob's Burger? Or is it just me?
Black Rosè yes!

@@alexiacarcamo8943 people can have the same opinion....
2:26... "Makeup can be weared" WEARED? i thought you'd say Worn like its past tense. Make up can be worn. Have i been wrong this whole time or is this teacher wrong.
Nope it's definitely worn.
Came here looking for this comment. It’s definitely worn. 🤦🏽♀️
Especially after he said the word egregious in the first minute 😂
@@somethingcool0808 i wonder if he has been wrong all his life and noone corrected him. i personally appreciate it when someone corrects me
LOL I just watched this for the first time since recording it and I don't even remember saying that, but it's 100% "worn."
Nobody:
Schools districts: shoulder are too revealing to boys
I adore the lady in the netted-top ❤️. Fight for y(our) students !
Yesss! I love her.
I'm glad I never had to go to an American high school and could wear whatever I wanted
Emilija Kastratovic May I ask where are you from?
Canadian schools can wear whatever they want as long as it not spaghetti straps or anything you would not wear to a job interview
Where I live you can come in a bikini to school nobody would care 😂 (but obviously nobody is that crazy)
Emilija Kastratovic why
not all american high schools have dresscodes like these :/
Everyone in my class has seen each other in bathing suits so I don’t understand my dress code
Kween Well what about the rest of the school o.O
one time a girl at my school had a tank top on and they tried to dress code her and she printed out the section of the handbook that said she was allowed to wear it if her bra straps weren’t showing and she highlighted it and handed it to our principal during lunch. so they kinda stopped dress coding us after that bc they didn’t want to deal with us anymore hahahahah
If i had school this will be my dress code:
Don't come naked
Don't reveal private parts
Don't wear something that has inappropriate text, pictures or signs
Fair
SAME
Okay so I get the fact that you can’t come to school in shorts where your butt’s hangin out and in a shirt that’s veryy low cut. But these rules are ridiculous.
I’m scared with the fact that one of them said “weared” instead of “worn” and they are *teachers*
lol I’m getting told off but I got 1k likes 🤠
Teachers can make mistakes :0 also you don't know what they teach
Chef Jim doesn’t matter what they teach, people still should know that that’s the correct pronunciation. It’s just basic knowledge :/
Worn, now wore
@@missgurl1745 People make mistakes. Sometimes i can't even pronounce "Successful".

Who said they taught reading?
I have a skin condition and I cant wear sleeves. Man they had a note in the office. YOU KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I GOT FLAGGED
😒 that must be so annoying
My school: girls can’t wear flip flops
Us girls: what about boys?
My school: boys are allowed to wear flip flops.
-_-
This is a true story.
angelbunnyblue -_- wow
angelbunnyblue come to my school you can wear slides/flip flops every day you want
ICY_Gamerz 168 can’t ;(
We can wear any shoes lol
No open toed shoes for anyone at my school. I get that though, because we are an open campus (all hallways outside) and we kinda got rattle snakes and junk
At my school we are no longer allowed to wear rips above the knee, but we can wear shorts and guys can wear short shorts. That totally makes sense🙃
The assistant principal walks around with a ruler and tape.
My school cares more about dress code than bullying
But us guys don't tend to wear really short shorts.
jac0b at my school tho, guys do wear short shorts. But I can’t have a rip in my knee, what does my knee do for people.
@@astoldbyjada367 I'm talking up to the butt short, not mid thigh
jac0b the point is that guys have so much more freedom to dress how they want and I get sent home for wearing a rip that shows absolutely no skin on my thigh
jac0b and girls don’t wear up the butt shorts, so what exactly was your point.
Teacher: Can I get some strong students to help me carry books ?
Girls: Raise their hand
Boys: Raise their hand
Teacher: chooses only boys
Me: smh
Anna Tran true 🥺🙄
Anna Tran ALWAYS. Like excuse me. It’s books. If I can carry my backpack which literally weighed more then me at one point in my school days. I can carry some books. LINDA, my god.
Anna Tran because boys are usually stronger
They do it bc girls help out more with other things tho they think the least they can do is let the boys carry some books chill out
@Andrew Scott so if a skinny ass man offers his help I have to say yes cause he's physically stronger? nah , also not every feminist is competing against men everyone in the world should be a feminist male/female. Everyone who believes in equal rights is a feminist , that's just my opinion
WHY DO WOMEN (GIRLS) HAVE STRICT DRESS CODE AND BOYS DONT???
My friend got dress coded for showing midriff and *she tied the dress code shirt up to show even more midriff XD*
Iconic
Christopher Adam what did they do then
Me: *wears spaghetti straps as a girl*
Teacher: nO sPagHeTTi stRaPs!
Boy That Sits Next To Me: *wears a leather booty shorts, a crop top that shows more than half of his torso, and is wearing “immodest makeup”*
Teacher: Oh, hello Robert
Actually every one of those would be banned for the boy. And my school would argue makeup is for girls.
Once at a school I don't currently go to, there was literally a boy that wore a swimsuit. I'm not kidding 😂
