I must have been right next to you around the 15 second mark. I got some good video from the parking lot of the baseball field and then caught back up with it on 37 south of Golden City and got some great stuff when it was a big stovepipe. This was a wicked storm
We live about 10 minutes from Joplin it got kinda scary when we heard there was another tornado to north of the city. Thankfully it passed Joplin from Jefferson City got hit pretty bad to
I remember that day! My mom lives right to the south of where you stopped by the Airport! The weird part about that day was the sirens in Joplin went off and where I lived, on the SW part of Joplin was clear and blue skies!! I remember thinking what is going on? Oronogo and Webb City had lots of damage to the north! My mom was fine! Now the Joplin tornado in 2011, I still live in the SW part of Joplin and that tornado passed our home a few blocks away! Thank goodness we have a full basement and safe room which I was in that day! But I’ll never forget that sound or how dark it got!! A very sad day for Joplin!!
Unfortunately, those pair of EF3's that hit from Miami, OK-Golden City, MO were precursors to a high-end EF3 that hit the state capital of Jefferson City around 11PM-Midnight with an unbelievable debris ball.
Night tornados are the scariest. Amazing work with the photography timed with lightning. Curious how much it would have helped to play with contrast settings on the video to see them better? Also have been seeing some chasers lately recording with night vision. Amazing difference. Great video guys, thanks for sharing.
Umm...u do realize that they literally can make tornados happen when and where they want to right??so it shouldn't really boggle the mind anymore!!🤔🤔😂😂
This Tornado started to the Northwest of Miami, Oklahoma, and moved Northeast towards Galena and Baxter Springs. Near Galena it sort of roped out a regenerated (remember that) and moved over about 2 miles out of Joplin through Carl Junction. Towards Jasper, it roped out and again, regenerated near Golden City and Golden City was hit worst. After Golden City, the tornado died down for 3 hours (it became a funnel) and regenerated 5 miles outside of Jefferson City. Jefferson City was a direct hit and was hit the worst. This was 12:45 a.m when the tornadic activity then died down. Technically since the same Tornado touched down 4 times, it traveled 188 miles. Sadly, 3 deaths happened in Golden City, but there were 10 - 15 injuries
Great video. Hair-raising watching all the chasers out there, it was such a soupy mess. Not good chasing conditions, at all. Pretty much the worst, actually, other than at night. Glad you guys are alright, and hopefully your next chase has much better visibility conditions.
I see on www.weather.com that you guys are STILL under the gun when it comes to severe weather outbreak. Stay safe y'all!! Greetings from Pennsylvania. Thanks for the video!! I subbed!!
Great question! Tornado have captured my interest since I was a child, and inspired me to follow a career in meteorology. While I love weather forecasting in general, forecasting and observing tornadoes is still the thing that captures my childhood fascination. The real world is my laboratory. I can't observe and study tornadoes in a lab, the only way to truly witness them is to go out like this and attempt to forecast and track them down. Hope that helps! It's pure fascination.
@@AndrewPritchard Well that is awesome that you get to do something that you really want to! Just please be careful and safe while chasing tornadoes!! Thank you for replying back to me. :) You are getting really good footage of them!! 🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌞
yes very sad, they lived off of hwy 126 that leads into town, the town itself didn't get hit! my mom lives in Golden City and they just lost power! Sad Sad
I live in NW Arkansas where the storm was extremely close to hitting us, I remember staying up all night just watching endless tornadoes touch down. Very sad and scary night, will not be forgotten.
I am in Jeff City myself, and the lady that lives next door works at the Toyota Dealer that got hit, the whole business Is totaled, all 600 cars have been totaled by the insurance, service shop is gone! missed us by a mile
My mom lives in Golden City, and I in Jeff City! and in 52 years I have never seen a tornado with my own eyes

Yep that’s my red truck with the camper shell. Lightning was crazy there
I love the fact that the window is always up and the driver has to be consistently asked to roll it down. Great video!

Lightening flashes!
"Big tornado northwest of Miami.... Miami, Oklahoma!!"
Loud thunder crashes!!
PERFECT!!!
Just a thank you to the people that chase the tornadoes and report where they are...saving lives!
Thank you for your excellent work 👍.
You are appreciated!

Oh my god. At 5:11 that thing is massive.
Poor people in that area have so many bad storms. God Bless the people.
Can’t believe this happened on Joplin Anniversary
Yes, it strains the imagination that tornadoes form in areas prone to tornadoes during tornado season.
And so close by !
God I can just imagine those poor folks thinking "Oh no, not again!!"

Dont forget lincoln illinois did have a tornado 2 days ago
That almost hit my house. Everyone thought it was going toward Carthage but it curved north thank the Lord.
Less than a mile from that tornado, so terribly scary especially being the anniversary of the 2011 tornado.
Thumbs up from Miami, Oklahoma!

What camera are ya using?
Great job chasing and awesome video. Thanks guys. Definitely could have been much worse as far as loss of life is concerned.
It is going to be worse. They fear mass casualties since they haven't even begun secondary searches yet.
@@icecl0ud did he say that tornado is 3 mi
I watched this cross Hwy 43. Got photos video too
This was a cone tornado? Interesting. I thought that generally, wedges were the only ones capable of pretty bad damage, just because of their width.
To add, the Elie, Manitoba tornado (2007) was extremely narrow and still levelled homes, then swept them clean off their foundation
A tornado's intensity has nothing to do with its size
In the Joplin city limits on the 8th anniversary of the big one. How eerie...

"Kids, we're moving to Miami!" Thousand miles later.
"Fuck you dad".
Great video of the 🌪️🌪️🌪️
Just be careful out there!

2:36: No problem, until you have to put new rotors on your breaks, or an electrical circuit gets burned up.
Look out Andrew... We share r last names n I wondered if there's a bunch of my family line up north that us here n TX don't know about...
Thanks for showing the stills.
when this was happening i was so worried for my nanna because she lives in miami
Three people died in Golden City, Mo.
May they rest in peace...😞

Just another normal day for Oklahoma.
It's pronounced "MyAMuh". Apparently, that's the Native American pronunciation.
nah, it's pronounced that because everyone here in the 4 states don't know how to say anything xd.
Oof, I feel like I knew that too! Forgot in the moment! Thanks!
When i lived in Florida, I pronounced it both ways depending how I used it in a sentence
Like Missouri is pronounced MI's sour ah and Nixa is Nix e
I was going to add a post correcting his pronunciation...but you have it covered...//
When a tornado hits on the day another tornado hits (Joplin)
Aw shit,here we go again
We escaped from the tornado
It's Miamuh
I wanna go to Miami...Oklahoma
Although Miami FL is a great town too....//
Actual that's the South side of Commerce and the North side of Miami, Oklahoma, but, it's cool though we mean what you know.

Good shot of my church's sign at 8 seconds.
And the other sign at 50 seconds
At 8 seconds is a shot of newell coach which is north miami, not south of town and at 2:38 is main street Baxter Springs KS not Galena.
Boy...that passenger sure is quite demanding and pushy.
