One major flaw with the instadown addon is that once you lose track of how many guards you spawned, youll have no clue when survivors are exposed, which is why I would always run it with a double guard addon so the exposed always happens on the same guard.
That seemed to be what the Knight player in the second game was doing; he had Battle Axe Head. Which I think is the strongest double-guard addon to combo with Knight's Contract; having two Carnifexes for gen- and pallet-kicking utility will get you around to your Instadown Jailer faster than two Assassins for chase.

I'd disagree, deathslinger's irri coin is the most healthy insta down addon because of the situational requirements, the aim required to hit those longer range shots, and the fact that you only get one shot and they kind of get away from that distance.

My most diabolical build is coulro, unnerving, distressing and merciless storm on doctor with purple order, and either purple calm or purple discipline for addons. This is already mean enough, but fails on larger maps. The workaround and true evil of this build is running a midwich offering as well. With distressing and calm your static will hit basically the entire map, and order will not only help you do it more often but also give you a metric ton of fake pallets on a very pallet heavy map that strangely enough is very playable on doctor compared to something like Gideon. The result most of the time is snowballing off of easily getting everyone injured and keeping that way, on top of impossible skillchecks + merciless keeping gens blocked, and using static almost immediately after I down somebody to madness 3 someone from across the map and delay gens/healing that way. I can’t recall losing a single match with this setup in the 3 or so weeks I’ve been running it.
i saw 2nd match live, the killer was russian streamer and live too, i checked his vod and his main point was having instadown + play with your food, haddie was giving him stacks constantly and he could instadown real fast and unexpected

Honestly the moment they reworked RPD and saw the [2 gens in main/2 gens next to main] combo, I wondered why Otz said it was difficult to defend gens in his map tierlist video
Otz makes great content but his map tierlist video is literally one of his worst videos IMO. He is very inconsistent with why he says a map is strong or weak and makes a ton of bias assumptions like a killer will play good on this map and survivors won't, etc. Assumes the killer will know the map layout and survivors won't etc.

Tbh I actually don't mind longer matches! I prefer them more to the short ones, they're usually more engaging. Though I guess I can sort of understand how on the average survivor's side it can seem boring to have lengthy matches in a row since the objective isn't the most dynamic thing.
Long matches give less points and overall are more frustrating/boring for survivors as it’s basically doing the same things over and over gaining no progress 😅 that’s what longer matches are..they last longer because you’re stuck not making progress. It’s best if matches last about 6-7 minutes, best for point gathering and less exhausting for survivors

Another Otzdarva banger, pretty wild to see just how oppressive this is, and how it used to be even stronger in the past, a lot like the pinhead standing on the box to make gens completely impossible without a lot of work. That's still powerful, but at least they can't just afk on the box.
I remember when BHVR tried to make addons that change the power, like Hag addons. Then they mostly stick to low effort ctrl+c ctrl+v addons with different numbers and instadown iris.
I have a build a bit more diabolical than this, using the dredge equip the perks make your choice, furtive chase, nemesis, and your choice of either rancor or devour hope. Add-ons don’t really matter much but I do prefer ones that cause the night to come around faster and more often to help disorient and confuse. You focus on the obsession and hook them. After you hook find a good spot out of site and use your float leaving a remnant behind and hold your charge as you walk away. When the obsession is unhooked the unhooker will scream having their aura revealed and they become exposed and you get another token if you brought devour hope. The moment you hear that person get unhooked you teleport back to your remnant and down the now VERY vulnerable survivor will not have much to do about it. I love this build because of how evil it is and it still provides counterplay to the survivors so if they catch on they can do their best to fight back and it rewards those who do pay attention
I'd agree but you don't understrand that the point is to use either Knight or Skull merchant, overall weak killers that survivors in solo queue can't help but fall into a stalemate with because they lack teamwork. Those killer are so impossibly weak... but the hatred towards them and 3 gen strat is off the chart. That's why they are my favorite killers, that and Huntress with iri addon camping basement. There is something magical about seing them instantly DC and all the hatemail you get after games is hilarious. Made my steam profile private just to add to that, it never fails to entertain me! XD
@@TheSpectralFX I wouldn’t say they’re weak killers. But I wouldn’t call things that are pretty much almost uncounterable fun. I personally love it when there is some form of counterplay to some incredibly unforgiving and evil build I create so that survivors who begin to catch on can have fun too and it encourages them to work together and I feel like an actual monster and they get to feel like genuine survivors who if they successfully escaped just escaped probably one of the most butt clenching and most tense match they’ve had in a minute. I personally don’t mind getting out skilled by someone because ik they worked hard on it! Skull merchant and knight have fun ways to play without a 3 gen or camping. Camping gets boring after awhile l. But I do suppose this build does punish hard for teams that aren’t working together. Especially because it’s kinda ez imo to counter it since I only focus on the obsession unless you’re in the way or the obsession died and my bs instant teleport can be made useless by walking through my remnant and locking everything around so you have a chance to escape and so long as you take out a totem or rush that unhook after I’ve walked away just a tad bit than a lot of my stuff is made useless and I guess I’m weird because I like when survivors start to figure it out
I’d say the slinger’s coin is the only decent insta-down, especially since it’s both body-blockable, AND you need to pull someone allll the way back in.

I have nothing but kind words and generous thanks to give to you. I know its not a lot, but I decided to begin carving a statue of your face into Mount Rushmore. Of course planning and hiring dedicated rock climbers and carvers will take time and a lot of money, but im hoping by 2037 we will have it done. Until then, please keep doing what you're doing, you genuinely make a lot of people's days better and I know myself that I always look forward to your streams because of how "at home" they feel. I'm liking how you formatted this video, i.e. explaining inner healing. I'm sure that's very helpful for newer players as well as processing insight from you as the game goes along.
I actually had a break of DBD for some time, and I returned once to play with some of my friends. (All noobs so nothing special) And I didn't know about this Perk Eruption, I was bewildered by what was happening. First I got jump scared (not complaining about that), and then I felt absolutely powerless... and then I noticed, this repeats multiple times through the game. I didn't even know what to think of that perk back then.
The biggest flaw of instadown addons is it makes chases shorter, which is the main fun objective for both sides. Hopefully their pivot towards chase perks means they’re moving in a new direction because the gameplay focus on gens just isn’t fun for most players.
A diabolical build I like to do is Pig on RPD, with iri tape, rules set no.2 (survivors cant see box auras until their tape is active), then devour, undying, and i just go with two other decent perks, typically just jolt and STBFL Every time I've done this, all 4 survivors have died before a single gen popped.
Surveillance on Knight is filthy. Combine it with the add on for farther summoning reach and you can intercept people the second a generator is highlighted
I wish eruption blocked gens instead of giving that status effect or showing auras like it does now. It would let survivors heal, do another gen, break totems thatever and it would be good anti genrush perk.
pain res dead man’s already does that and it’s still annoying even with the potential warning, imagine your gen getting hurt and blocked at potentially random times because your teammate goes down when you can’t predict it
When the knight first came out I was really enjoying him so I bought his iri skin and I almost never buy skins and haven’t played him sense and he is one of the only characters I have ever bought a skin for

The argument I saw very much at the time was: We need Erruption to be strong to counter the overuse of Dead Hard. And the counterargument was: We need Dead Hard to counter Erruption. So anytime you suggested that Erruption needed to be nerfed, they said NERF DEAD HARD FIRST and vice versa.
A quick and easy way I feel to minimize nasty 3 gens is to add a timer. 15-20 minutes should do. Hell to prevent survivors from taking the game hostage too would be to just DC survs with crows for too long or ones that aren't doing objectives for too long.
I made a Legion build that was so evil that survivors gave up. It consists of: - The good old Hex: Thrill of the Hunt and Hex: Face the Darkness combo - Deathbound - Trail of Torment/ gen slowdown For add-ons, you definitely need the Etched Ruler and The Legion Pin And there you have it, a build that makes survivors unable to do gens bc of screams and being oblivious while also not being able to Heal.
You know what's fun? 4 SWF and just move in and our of lockers when killer locks down 3 gen. We have no problem hoping in and out of lockers on the other side of map of 3 gen.
My favorite diabolical build is Wesker with Coulrophobia, Distressing, Unnerving Presence, and Huntress Lullaby as the perks, Lab Photo and Portable Safe as the add-ons, and The Game map offering. The terror radius hits the entire map nearly the entire time, making their skull checks and healing impossible, and I can just use my power to break all the pallets quickly. I bring it for prestige 100 lobbies.
As a killer main, I still see no issue with old eruption at the time. It was genrush meta so it was either bring eruption to force extra time in the match, play top tier killers to keep survivor hook states going, or slug with ring drawing sadako and use the excuse "atleast I didn't bring eruption"
I don’t think it was genrush meta actually I think what you said about stronger killers outshining was the problem. Playing clown, wraith, sadako or any m1 killer without gen kicking perks felt brutal. But playing blight and nurse was and even still is so easy . I can confidently say that eruption was bad and problematic, but it didn’t need the nerf / rework that it got. I feel like making it incapacitated for 25 seconds is insane they could have just lowered that to 10 seconds. Doing that would’ve been step one. If it was still problematic then make it 10% of it’s CURRENT progress as they did with Pop.
When eruption was had its 25 seconds of I ran vigil just because eruption and 3 gens we're so popular and it didn't make too much of a difference but that and stakeout helped alot in those 3 gens especially with prove or resilience
As a Knight main, looking forward to running this diabolical build. I had definitely overlooked the Knight's Contract, looks like it can do some serious work!
I think the Devs need to just take the plunge and implement a regression cap. You can only regress a gen 100% of its total progress, before you are unable to regress that single generator anymore. So you can pop it, hit it with call of brine, etc - but once you've regressed a generator for 100% of a gen, it just won't regress anymore, and you have no option to interact with it as a killer. At the same time, and using your own prior suggestion, toolboxes should help "fill" this anti-regression bar up. So this would change the groundwork of toolboxes, too, since their main use isn't for repairing gens - but securing them against the killer, which is the ultimate goal of the player (securing the generator is the same as popping it - if a generator is finished, the survivors have secured it and the killer can't just turn off that gen. This new toolbox system would help secure gens, and make late-game toolboxes extremely common - and would change how killers approach toolboxes in the lobby appropriately). Though I do think using a toolbox should increase the speed *slightly* of generator repairs, as well. 10% extra speed is fine, but 50%? Is not. So the Engineer's toolbox, with its low charge count, could give 25% bonus speed - 50% with addons - at best. Brand New Part should add anti-regression during its skillchecks in large chunks (33% seems fair, so the killer can only regress 67% of the Generator's progress).
This regression cap is a horrible idea. Yes it'd help 3 gen-ing but it's terrible when the killer is just trying to keep a gen 0 when survivors keep swarming it. Literally turns into a losing battle even when not 3 gen-ing for the killer who is supposed to be the powerhouse and would be handholding survivors more then they already do

Everyone i played with thought that Eruption was weak because it was just a mini delayed pop that took too much setup. But i went "yeah but if you also hit a survivor with it they get crippled for stupid amount of time".
i do this exact same thing on skull merchant. i've had games go on for 30 minutes. overcharge, call of brine, jolt, and fearmonger/nowhere to hide are what i use.
2:57 - "The gens are more important than the Survivors." --Every Knight Player Ever I escaped three different Knights yesterday. Baffled that none of them ever run the Iri Add-ons. His aren't bad. Rest in piss, Old Eruption, do not miss you at all.
Honestly, its because Iri addon are kinda hard to get in the first place. Map of the realm and the yellow contract one are a pretty solid "generic" build outside of that and this is what I run the most. Without the 2 addon mentioned above, your guards usually can't ever catch up to a w pressing survivor due to how intentionally bad they made the AI for the minions. It's a very weak killer.
Massive? It is merely quality of life change tbh. It is not changing anything. Maybe you will see slightly less walleys add ons and one more smolface than usual but thats it.

The unfortunate thing is that having the guards damage gens doesn't activate Eruption or Overcharge. It's an 'Order'. But it works with a perk like Surveillance where its based on regression.
I'm surprised they didn't make Incapacitated a Debuff that is like deep wound but make it so the only way to rcover faster than the 25 seconds is to have someone else patch you up. But that's gone and even without it that setup on RPD is brutal
God I wish BHVR would do something about matches like this, because this stuff is still possible and not that uncommon. I'd rather take the DC penalty and the depip then to play a 30 minute slog of trying to get a single gen done. Simply put, it's not fun. I don't mind losing matches and I can have fun while doing it, but strats like this suck the fun out of it.
Update: This build would no longer work for like 50 different reasons 😂

I remember when BHVR tried to make addons that change the power, like Hag addons. Then they mostly stick to low effort ctrl+c ctrl+v addons with different numbers and instadown iris.

I have a build a bit more diabolical than this, using the dredge equip the perks make your choice, furtive chase, nemesis, and your choice of either rancor or devour hope. Add-ons don’t really matter much but I do prefer ones that cause the night to come around faster and more often to help disorient and confuse. You focus on the obsession and hook them. After you hook find a good spot out of site and use your float leaving a remnant behind and hold your charge as you walk away. When the obsession is unhooked the unhooker will scream having their aura revealed and they become exposed and you get another token if you brought devour hope. The moment you hear that person get unhooked you teleport back to your remnant and down the now VERY vulnerable survivor will not have much to do about it. I love this build because of how evil it is and it still provides counterplay to the survivors so if they catch on they can do their best to fight back and it rewards those who do pay attention
I'd agree but you don't understrand that the point is to use either Knight or Skull merchant, overall weak killers that survivors in solo queue can't help but fall into a stalemate with because they lack teamwork.
Those killer are so impossibly weak... but the hatred towards them and 3 gen strat is off the chart.
That's why they are my favorite killers, that and Huntress with iri addon camping basement.
There is something magical about seing them instantly DC and all the hatemail you get after games is hilarious.

@@TheSpectralFX I wouldn’t say they’re weak killers. But I wouldn’t call things that are pretty much almost uncounterable fun. I personally love it when there is some form of counterplay to some incredibly unforgiving and evil build I create so that survivors who begin to catch on can have fun too and it encourages them to work together and I feel like an actual monster and they get to feel like genuine survivors who if they successfully escaped just escaped probably one of the most butt clenching and most tense match they’ve had in a minute. I personally don’t mind getting out skilled by someone because ik they worked hard on it! Skull merchant and knight have fun ways to play without a 3 gen or camping. Camping gets boring after awhile l. But I do suppose this build does punish hard for teams that aren’t working together. Especially because it’s kinda ez imo to counter it since I only focus on the obsession unless you’re in the way or the obsession died and my bs instant teleport can be made useless by walking through my remnant and locking everything around so you have a chance to escape and so long as you take out a totem or rush that unhook after I’ve walked away just a tad bit than a lot of my stuff is made useless and I guess I’m weird because I like when survivors start to figure it out
I’d say the slinger’s coin is the only decent insta-down, especially since it’s both body-blockable, AND you need to pull someone allll the way back in.

Of course planning and hiring dedicated rock climbers and carvers will take time and a lot of money, but im hoping by 2037 we will have it done. I actually had a break of DBD for some time, and I returned once to play with some of my friends. (All noobs so nothing special)
And I didn't know about this Perk Eruption, I was bewildered by what was happening. First I got jump scared (not complaining about that), and then I felt absolutely powerless... and then I noticed, this repeats multiple times through the game. I didn't even know what to think of that perk back then.
I played this build last week on The Game. Its crazy how much time knight can slow the gens in a 3gen

The biggest flaw of instadown addons is it makes chases shorter, which is the main fun objective for both sides. Hopefully their pivot towards chase perks means they’re moving in a new direction because the gameplay focus on gens just isn’t fun for most players.

this has given me flash backs to when i had played against old eruption, and it was miserable
A diabolical build I like to do is Pig on RPD, with iri tape, rules set no.2 (survivors cant see box auras until their tape is active), then devour, undying, and i just go with two other decent perks, typically just jolt and STBFL
Every time I've done this, all 4 survivors have died before a single gen popped.

Surveillance on Knight is filthy. Combine it with the add on for farther summoning reach and you can intercept people the second a generator is highlighted
I wish eruption blocked gens instead of giving that status effect or showing auras like it does now. It would let survivors heal, do another gen, break totems thatever and it would be good anti genrush perk.
pain res dead man’s already does that and it’s still annoying even with the potential warning, imagine your gen getting hurt and blocked at potentially random times because your teammate goes down when you can’t predict it

When the knight first came out I was really enjoying him so I bought his iri skin and I almost never buy skins and haven’t played him sense and he is one of the only characters I have ever bought a skin for

The argument I saw very much at the time was: We need Erruption to be strong to counter the overuse of Dead Hard. And the counterargument was: We need Dead Hard to counter Erruption.
So anytime you suggested that Erruption needed to be nerfed, they said NERF DEAD HARD FIRST and vice versa.

A quick and easy way I feel to minimize nasty 3 gens is to add a timer. 15-20 minutes should do. Hell to prevent survivors from taking the game hostage too would be to just DC survs with crows for too long or ones that aren't doing objectives for too long.
I made a Legion build that was so evil that survivors gave up. It consists of:
- The good old Hex: Thrill of the Hunt and Hex: Face the Darkness combo
- Deathbound
- Trail of Torment/ gen slowdown
For add-ons, you definitely need the Etched Ruler and The Legion Pin
And there you have it, a build that makes survivors unable to do gens bc of screams and being oblivious while also not being able to Heal.
Even better with Thanatophobia. Machine Learning is also a better alternative than Trail of Torment.
You know what's fun? 4 SWF and just move in and our of lockers when killer locks down 3 gen. We have no problem hoping in and out of lockers on the other side of map of 3 gen.
If the killer has the patience and mental skill, that wouldn't bother them

My favorite diabolical build is Wesker with Coulrophobia, Distressing, Unnerving Presence, and Huntress Lullaby as the perks, Lab Photo and Portable Safe as the add-ons, and The Game map offering. The terror radius hits the entire map nearly the entire time, making their skull checks and healing impossible, and I can just use my power to break all the pallets quickly. I bring it for prestige 100 lobbies.

As a killer main, I still see no issue with old eruption at the time. It was genrush meta so it was either bring eruption to force extra time in the match, play top tier killers to keep survivor hook states going, or slug with ring drawing sadako and use the excuse "atleast I didn't bring eruption"
I don’t think it was genrush meta actually I think what you said about stronger killers outshining was the problem. Playing clown, wraith, sadako or any m1 killer without gen kicking perks felt brutal. But playing blight and nurse was and even still is so easy .
I can confidently say that eruption was bad and problematic, but it didn’t need the nerf / rework that it got. I feel like making it incapacitated for 25 seconds is insane they could have just lowered that to 10 seconds. Doing that would’ve been step one. If it was still problematic then make it 10% of it’s CURRENT progress as they did with Pop.

Wow, I only got into the game within the last year. I didn't know how busted Eruption used to be that is crazy.
When eruption was had its 25 seconds of I ran vigil just because eruption and 3 gens we're so popular and it didn't make too much of a difference but that and stakeout helped alot in those 3 gens especially with prove or resilience

I think the Devs need to just take the plunge and implement a regression cap. You can only regress a gen 100% of its total progress, before you are unable to regress that single generator anymore. So you can pop it, hit it with call of brine, etc - but once you've regressed a generator for 100% of a gen, it just won't regress anymore, and you have no option to interact with it as a killer. At the same time, and using your own prior suggestion, toolboxes should help "fill" this anti-regression bar up.
So this would change the groundwork of toolboxes, too, since their main use isn't for repairing gens - but securing them against the killer, which is the ultimate goal of the player (securing the generator is the same as popping it - if a generator is finished, the survivors have secured it and the killer can't just turn off that gen. This new toolbox system would help secure gens, and make late-game toolboxes extremely common - and would change how killers approach toolboxes in the lobby appropriately).
Though I do think using a toolbox should increase the speed *slightly* of generator repairs, as well. 10% extra speed is fine, but 50%? Is not. So the Engineer's toolbox, with its low charge count, could give 25% bonus speed - 50% with addons - at best. Brand New Part should add anti-regression during its skillchecks in large chunks (33% seems fair, so the killer can only regress 67% of the Generator's progress).
This regression cap is a horrible idea. Yes it'd help 3 gen-ing but it's terrible when the killer is just trying to keep a gen 0 when survivors keep swarming it. Literally turns into a losing battle even when not 3 gen-ing for the killer who is supposed to be the powerhouse and would be handholding survivors more then they already do

Everyone i played with thought that Eruption was weak because it was just a mini delayed pop that took too much setup. But i went "yeah but if you also hit a survivor with it they get crippled for stupid amount of time".

i do this exact same thing on skull merchant. i've had games go on for 30 minutes. overcharge, call of brine, jolt, and fearmonger/nowhere to hide are what i use.

I escaped three different Knights yesterday. Baffled that none of them ever run the Iri Add-ons. His aren't bad. Rest in piss, Old Eruption, do not miss you at all.
Honestly, its because Iri addon are kinda hard to get in the first place.
Map of the realm and the yellow contract one are a pretty solid "generic" build outside of that and this is what I run the most.
Without the 2 addon mentioned above, your guards usually can't ever catch up to a w pressing survivor due to how intentionally bad they made the AI for the minions.
It's a very weak killer.

The unfortunate thing is that having the guards damage gens doesn't activate Eruption or Overcharge. It's an 'Order'. But it works with a perk like Surveillance where its based on regression.

If guard could activate perks, then this build would be truly diabolical. Or just knight in general.
I'm surprised they didn't make Incapacitated a Debuff that is like deep wound but make it so the only way to rcover faster than the 25 seconds is to have someone else patch you up. But that's gone and even without it that setup on RPD is brutal
God I wish BHVR would do something about matches like this, because this stuff is still possible and not that uncommon. I'd rather take the DC penalty and the depip then to play a 30 minute slog of trying to get a single gen done. Simply put, it's not fun. I don't mind losing matches and I can have fun while doing it, but strats like this suck the fun out of it.
