      @@TheSushiMan As it turns out I had a question but was able to figure it out. My wife and I had a dish many years ago that was tuna on a daikon bed with a delicious sauce. I wasn't sure what the sauce was but it was pinkish, oily, and tangy. So I combined your spicy mayo recipe ( which is incredible by the way) with some sushi zu and successfully recreated the sauce. It was incredible. I love you channel and look forward to learning more. John

      @@TheSushiMan I had a question but I was able to figure it out. Years ago my wife and I enjoyed a dish that was tuna on a daikon bed with masago and delicious sauce. The sauce was the key and I could not find a description of it anywhere . It was pinkish, oily, slightly hot and very tangy. So I made you spicy mayo (which was superb) and miked it with sushi zu until it tasted just right. It was delicious. I love your channel and look forward to learning more. John

    I've had some crazy hot spicy roll at a restaurant. I'm pretty sure they used one of those high capsaicin hot sauce (Ghost Pepper, Scorpion Pepper or Naga Pepper). Is that typically mixed into the mayo, or applied to the food directly? I think it was mixed because eating it directly could be dangerous, but it was crazy hot in a good/fun way.

      Think that all depends on the person. For me, I can't do extremely hot stuff but I know people that'll use those crazy sauces as if it was soy sauce. Not sure how they taste anything, haha.

    Great Video Yours Is The Most Authentic to restaurants I've seen I see sometimes its has little green pieces in it is that wasabi

      Thanks and glad you like the recipe! I'm not sure if I've ever seen it with wasabi inside. I suppose you could add some kizami wasabi which is chopped up fresh wasabi. But I personally would rather keep it separate so that I can use the spicy mayo for other dishes.

    I will have to try this. I either hate or love spicy mayo. Some locations it always has a bitter aftertaste to me. Some places it's amazing. I imagine this one is excellent.

    What would help as a substitute if your stores don’t have kewpie mayo?

    • @TheSushiMan
      @TheSushiMan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi theparanoidone, that's a tough one.. There's really no other mayo like Kewpie unless it's a different Japanese mayo. I know Kenko is another brand that's pretty similar. You can use other mayo but just know it won't taste the same and the consistency will be different as well. I recommend trying to find Kewpie mayo online, trust me it'll be worth it.

    I understand the separate bowls from a video making perspective but honestly people should just measure the ingredients right into the mixing bowl. it will save you washing 6 extra dishes for the same result! Start with the dry ingredients, mix them together, add the wet ingredients, mix again, then put the mayo right into the bowl. Now your clean up is much easier!

      I'm sure this is what he does when he's not breaking it down for viewers. He even says around 1:25 - "I have all these ingredients measured out already, but you'll probably want to measure it and put it into the bowl directly."

    • @TheSushiMan
      @TheSushiMan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, thanks @lavenderpenryn, I only measure it all out for video purposes. It wouldn't make sense to do this if you're making it on your own.

    How about the sesame oil? 😳

    • @TheSushiMan
      @TheSushiMan  ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely can add it in there, I personally wouldn't add to much though since the mayo is already oily but it really just comes down to preference.
