    I own both and to be honest I would love to see the Smatchet's handle grafted onto the Condor Barongs blade (modifying the blade by adding a sharpened back edge and removing the primary edges should right at the "sweet spot"), but if I had to pick one as is it would be the Smatchet hands down. The Smatchet represents magnificent value for money, and is ultimately "disposable" as in if you abuse the knife and it fails you simply go and buy another (they are that well priced), though they won't fail readily.

    Ive owned a cs smatchet since they came out and its a tool i use every year chopping and clearing brush and is still in very good shape. Idk if it matters the blade is thicker on the condor, the cs blade isnt thick but its rigid and tough unlike bendy machetes. i have abused my smatchet and it has come through with flying colors. I wonder why cs discontinued it?

    Which one do you like, it seem's to me the Condor would be my choice, thickness and steel type on a chopper would be why I choose the Condor, I would like your opinion.

      I'd go with the cold steel because of the handguard, it would protect my hand from slipping onto the blade.

    I read Fairbairn's All-In-Fighting (later renamed Get Tough!) when I was in High School, and have loved the smatchet ever since. Thanks for the vid.

    I have three snatched for throwing. They are very good throwers. Lots of fun.

    I would go with the Condor. The blade steel, thickness and workmanship is well worth the small price differential.

    Smatchet WWII trench knife Barong jungle survival machete. How can you compare the 2

      I own an authentic Barong. The REAL Barong is technically a short sword. The blade is just too heavy for machete work.

      Ummm because there is more to it than just a title or a name, and people who have an understanding of knives and their geometry can see that these two are extremely similar and perfect for comparison.

      the thing is the Smatchet can easily be used as both a combat tool and a work tool, it truly is a versatile knife, so you can most certainly compare the two.(I own both of these knives and the Condor Barong, while a worthy knife it simply doesn't match the Smatchet in performance. The only place where the Barong exceeds the Smachet is steel quality, 1075HC[Barong] compared to 1055HC[Smacthet], but is let down by no back edge, blade thickness[while increases toughness and durability, reduces chopping ability and "liveliness" of the knifes feel] and handle is inadequate.)

    I like the Guard and Handle on Smatchet
    But like the Barong blade ..
    (🤔 But over time you could modify the Smatchet ..)

    The guard on the smatchet is good. I like the blade shape of the smatchet. Its like the roman gladius swords..

    I converted my smatchet into a double edged short sword. I also shaped the handle better with a dremmel tool

      @Joep Buyod You could just file it down to an edge with any metal file suited for shaving metal, then finish it up with some sandpaper. It would take awhile to finish though.

    I'm Cold Steel fan but the Condor looks better. Better steel ( but CS heat tretment are very good), better sheat and better workmanship !

    Condor Barong vs Cold Steel Smatchet? Why not Condor Barong vs Cold Steel Barong?

    For combat the break away sheath is faster, and traditional of war blades in the Philippines.

    Is the smatchet not suppose to be a double edge blade?

    • @samdelapp9042
      @samdelapp9042 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      sometimes they have half an edge at the back but usually they are single edged.

    I have owned 4 different CS machetes and the blades all sucked. Crap finishes and dull!

      +Eurotrash4367 that's why they are dirt cheap lol what do you expect out of 20$ a benchmande?

    • @Eurotrash4367
      @Eurotrash4367 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no experience with benchmande. Is it a Pakastani knock off of Benchmade? Did you know that a dog howling at night means there is a troll nearby?
