    Was the happy owner of a Renault Fluence ZE for 6½ year. When you learn to live with a range of around 110 km it is a nice car.
    The car continued being built in South Korea under the brand Renault Samsung ZE until 2020 - the latest models with 33 kWh battery

      We can see it suiting people whose driving fits nicely within the range. Pretty good all-rounder, and the rarity is another nice feature!

    I still drive this car, being one of the first to buy this one when it launched. I got the battery replaced twice, the last time they had to custom make it, and they warned me that it's the last battery this car will ever have. Right now I can squeeze 100Km of range max. It's a pity, the car is terrible, but having a car that it's as unique as it is really fun.

      Just fully go for it if and when the current battery fails. Full swap onto Tesla running gear and have the fastest fluence the world has ever seen

    I own one since 2020. I modified it and run a custom battery pack from a 40kWh Nissan Leaf with a powertrain from a Zoe with a 22kW On-Board-Charger.
    Very comfortable compared to a Zoe and economical as well. I am based in London but regularly take it to Manchester and Cornwall. Average speed is 50miles an hour including charge stops.

    I always love the look of this car. And here in the Netherlands it comes for sale for cheap and the range would be okay for me. But the low spec charger ruins it for me combined with the low range
    Cause it's fine for 90% of my trips but that last 10% is just not possible

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  ปีที่แล้ว

      The fact the batteries are just in the boot doesn't bother you?

  • @stevenoble-king5636
    @stevenoble-king5636 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    ZE stands for Zero Emissions. The battery is 280kg, this does make the handling potentially wayward in corners but so long as you understand that it’s fine, if the car you drove is a bit wayward normally and the front clonks the drop links have gone.
    The two charge ports are to allow the car to be plugged in to charge from either side, it’s a great idea and should be on all Evs. (if you have an EV with one charge port you will understand this.)
    If you bought one of these when they were new you most probably knew you were buying into a beta EV testing car and like all new technologies (yes EV technology over all is over 120 years old) they are usually fatally flawed.
    Other issues including but not limited to include:
    Resistance heating.
    3.5kw maximum charging speed which equates to adding about 14 miles range per hour.
    Renault dealers don’t want to know but there are independent EV specialists now.
    Poor battery chemistry.
    Originally developed for a battery swap system in Israel and Denmark which spectacularly flopped to the tune of $800 million. The 75 brought into the UK were demonstrators with out the battery swap mechanism hence the slow charger.
    I love mine and you’d have to give me considerably over £500k to buy it :-)

  • @jarthurs
    @jarthurs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    A few years back I considered buying one of these, but when you consider that a G-Wiz was also in the running I didn't have very high goals for it. Ironically the main thing that put me off was the Renault Battery lease which would have cost me a cool £50/month before I even charged it.

    I found one for $5500 is it worth the money? I'm planning to use within the city for less than 20km trips. But idk what's gonna happen when I need parts for it, is it hard to find parts and someone who can repair this thing? By the way it's not rear at all, I see at least 3 to 5 of these here in Bulgaria every day and in second hand sites there are like 150+ listings for these.

    Facts about Fluence ZE this was designed to sell in Israel because at the time there was fuel shortage so Renault partnered up with a company that has charging stations and helps with batteries, rent and the support but after 160+ cars sold to Israel they filed bankruptcy and actually this helped Tesla to sell cars there and now Tesla sales are so high in Israel because of the Fluance ZE and I live in Turkey the Fluance ZE was a hit here about 1000+ cars were sold to the government and around 200+ cars were sold to the owners and we got the Diesel and petrol versions with the ZE my friend had one too he was going to work and back with it he sold it recently and got a ZOE

    • @BuckleUpShow

      The Leaf, but that's also still not very good. Tesla were the first to make a compelling electric car, but even an early Model S is a pretty rough proposition these days. If I was looking to buy a cheaper used EV I'd punt for a Kia Soul EV.

    • @DJPALM78

      Firstly, it’s you’re not your. Secondly, it was not designed as a ground up full EV. They sold petrol and diesel models in Europe. The batteries are in a box in the boot. If that’s ground up, then I’m Mickey Mouse.
