CAREFUL consideration when sentencing Trump should not only be based upon the crime itself but also the probability that if he had not been able to cover up so much of his unsavory past he likely would not have been elected.
Because he was elected the lives of many people were lost to his unethical handling of the COVID pandemic and then the devastation to the January 6 law enforcement, along with the rage that has broken out in our nation because of his lies. Most other Presidents would have tried harder to get COVID under control quickly, and the insurrection of Jan 6 would not have happened, and the rage that has broken out across the nation because of Trump would not have happened. Trump's crimes have caused significant harm to this nation as a whole and he deserves a very harsh punishment for the crime surrounding the coverups that began it all.
Trump had nothing to do with lives lost during covid. If anyone is to blame, it's Cuomo and the other blue state governors.

I know I'm a New Zealand chauvinist, but I wouldn't live anywhere else. (And I've traveled a lot.) We're not as wealthy as the US, nor as "powerful" but we have a lot of things going for us. So do other countries. America is great, absolutely, but I suspect many Americans haven't seen outside their own country. Could be wrong. 🙂
I'm American, and I agree completely. It's just one of many countries. There are dozens of countries that have higher quality of life metrics. That's what really measures the quality of a country.
I worked for a global genetics company, and met a lot of people from across the globe. It doesn't take long to pick up on the vibe that the rest of the world looks at the US like it's a petulant 500 kilo child throwing a tantrum in a grocery store.

Trump’s presidency had to do destroying any progress in all these measures. Any Republican state has poor health funding; poor education funding, gun violence and drug abuse. Corporations support all this. Look at the Republican leaders, the head of the House of Representatives is from the worst state in the Union - Louisiana. Mitch is the representative from Kentucky, a state that was 45th in the nation until they voted in a Democratic governor. Alaska is now the 49th lowest state in the Union by all measures.
I reluctantly and shamefully agree... but in truth, we do have Obama care and Joe's taking steps in the right direction; let's give him credit.
