@@CanizaM the screen is an important but small part of the system. There is still a secondary, finer mesh screen and separator bowl next in line. I would imagine the screen keeps chunks at the bottom of the tank from clogging the outlet. The particulates get separated out by the secondary screen and bowl assembly. some wrong advice there that is not a radiator drain valve and that ford sediment bowl assy has provisions for a 0ne gal built in hence the tube sting up from off you opened the valve 2 full turns when reserve was needed it was open all the way the correct ones are available.
The end of the screen is supposed to be open, so fuel will just bypass it until it gets near the bottom of the tank? That looks odd.
