The build quality is very good, more on the excellent side. I received my unit 06/15, it was a gift from my mother. She knows I love coffee and spent way too much money, but I am a very happy camper. Just so you know, she is not wealthy monetarily. This machine is well worth the money if it is in your price range.
The empty tank icon is lit, because the unit is turned on just a little too soon. (Probably bypassing the tank sensor check) Have to wait a moment till only the middle button is lit then press and hold to turn it on (then the tank icon will go away)
How do you connect to the app? Do you have to connect your phone to a wifi router built into the machine? Or does it use something sensible like bluetooth or a connection to the store's wifi? How granular are security permissions for the various settings? You might want someone to be able to see the brew pressure, but not be able to screw with the recipes, for example.
Love this machine, that pump sounds so cool, almost a whistle. What grinders would you suggest to pair with this for light commercial use (a coffee cart)? I’ve heard the atom heats up grounds if used too much?
I am having my machine shipped and will arrive in the next 2 months. I will use atom 75 and zenith HS as i will grind two types of coffee blend in my shop.
Atom is fast, double shot in around 5-7secs depending on the beans. Consistency is good within 0.1g each time. In a commercial cart setting, its probably one of the best, small footprint, fast grind, easy to adjust. Anything that has a high rpm would generate heat, unless you go 98mm burr grinders.
I wouldn’t buy it just for this very reason - the touch points on a machine are part of what gives you joy in using it. Chrome coated plastic is just made in China depressing
What is the minimum and maximum brew temperature you can set on the app? Won't the heat exchange cause the brew water to be too hot especially if the brew temperature chosen is less than the temperature coming from the heat exchange in the steam boiler and when increasing the steam pressure?
Either thermoblock or thermo coil or take of same. Surprising how the manufacturer did not further explain or use an animation to show this touted technology. Downside is an additional component that could fail.
Hi, I bought Eagle One Prima recently in Australia but dose setting does not work as described. For example, I set 40, then the water volume is supposed to be always 40ml in the cup but the variable is more than 10ml and never get 40ml. I accepted it if the variation is plus/minus 2ml. This means you never get a consistent espresso extraction. Tested quite a lot times but the result is always the same. I reported this is a problem and showed that result by taking videos to the manufacturer here but Victoria Arduino Australia just said "it is actually operating quite good." without any technical reasoning. What? What's the dose setting is for then? Spent more than a month to hear more reasoning but nothing had been added. Tried to get professional comments from distributor/importer here but no one gave me any comments on that. Weird. It would be great if you could run some test on dose setting and show how it works. I'd love to share the test video if you want.
Hi Five. I'm going to try and do a video on it later. Your question about 40ml in cup, its not really volumetric dosing in cup. If you try it with an empty portafilter, you will get 40ml everytime. Once you put coffee in, it would depend on density, how it absorbs the water etc. There isn't any machine capable of volumetric dosing, gravimetric yes, that would be the Decent with a bluetooth scale, but 40g of espresso is very different to 40ml of espresso.
@@BosHK Thanks for your feedback. Yes. volume and weight are different physical unit each other: 40g of espresso is very different to 40ml of espresso. However, as you pointed out, If you try it with an empty portafilter, you will get 40ml everytime and the weight of 40ml water will be 40g because 1 milliliter (ml) of water weighs 1 gram (g). I always get the close to 40g of water when water temperature in brew boiler is cold. However, when the water in brew boiler is hot, I never get close to 40g of water. In another test, I set 55 dose setting on button 1C. Here's what I got: 58g, 45g, 50g, 56g, 55g, 54g, 54g, 54g. Is it an engineering design mistake on the decision of 150ml ~ 200ml sized brew boiler? The first three trials did not give close to 55g but it started giving me the number that I set. After the first three button presses, the most of hot water in brew boiler is used up making the overall temp of water in brew boiler cold. The manufacturer is going to refund the money in full. But I don't hear any technical explanations on this function at all. I am very curious what outcome will be in another machine.
Also I can’t believe he didn’t talk about what looks like very nice programmable preinfusion/wetting in the app. Doesn’t exist for the LM. Is in the gs3. Also ?timer
Nice looking unit ... i have the Simonelli oscar 2 and like this look better... i see your coffee has crema the entire push is that the coffee type or the unit doing that?
Hey could you please tell how much grams of coffee to take for perfect shot of espresso plus what should ne the ideal waterr temperature for brewing please thank you would really appreciate the help
Hi there, the ideal double shot ranges from as low as 16grams to as high as 19grams from what I've seen, generally 17grams-18grams is average. And all coffee beans are different, so the water temperature would vary I suspect. Hope this helps 😊
Prima One has only 1.5 Litre in steam boiler capacity . I bet the Rockets , Profitec and La Marzocco able to churn out much better , dryer steam for latte art . Also considering pulling hot water continuously from this 1.5l steam boiler could be difficult to cope room, imagine in a small cafe set up as what VA advertises . Good design initiative for energy conservation but in my opinion defeat the purpose used for small cafe , high end home espresso machine . Many of this users in this segments requires good steam power . LM GS3 AV way to go .
I am going to use this machine at my cafe. Solve the hot water problem with stagg EKG kettle, which will make better americano because you can set the temp and hold it
Great looking machine and I have no doubt as to its quality. However, for such an expensive machine, I'm wondering why they left so many deal breakers in their design. For example, why on earth would you place the power switch under and at the back? And no mention of an automated on/off function?! For the price of a portafilter, they could have added a lot more functional touch screen and interface, flow profiling, and do away with the need for the app. Surprisingly, the Decent appears to be a lot more user friendly and functional.
You can put the machine into and out of standby mode using the buttons on the group head. Because of this, the power switch isn’t something that necessarily needs to be used very often. As of right now, there is no way to schedule the machine to turn on and off (but it could easily be done in firmware later). I personally prefer using my phone to set it up rather than to have a screen, especially one that looks like a gaudy afterthought like on the decent. Many of the features people are complaining about it not having without Bluetooth are present, you just need to read the manual.
I never use the on off switch. I have it on a timer for now so it goes into standby in the morning. You can really leave it on 24/7 if you want. And with the upcoming firmware and app update it will soon have on off schedules. So the switch is not a deal breaker at all. If you have a phone you have a touchscreen. You could even dedicate an old phone or iPad to it if you really wanted. But honestly I hate the aesthetic of a tablet sitting on the cup warmer area. It’s not trying to be a Decent, though I would love if they add a gravimetric option with something like a Lunar scale.
Decent looking machine but SO over-engineered. Can’t even imagine the number of things that will go worn with something like this. Prefer the simplicity of the earlier Linea Minis.
Overall nice review. Thanks for detailed as possible info given in a short time space. I'ts a verry nice video for the espresso. Unfortunately there are also people who drinks other hot drinks like tea. Can i use is to replace my hotwater boiler ? Can i continous use the hot water tap to make cups of tea when the machine is plumped ?
You could use it for tea, but it’s not ideal. A kettle will always be a better option. Or something like a Zojirushi hot water unit. There isn’t any home espresso machine that I can think of that would be great for tea.
Apples and oranges. E61 is old tech. All chrome mechanical look is a matter of preference, but the Prima is stunning and different than all the Rocket, ECM, etc E-61 units. My last machine was an ECM, which I still currently have. It was nice, but you can’t really compare the two.
You definitely don’t need the Easy Cream wand. This thing steams like a champ. The app isn’t really any different then a separate screen on a Rocket or Decent except it’s Bluetooth.
yeah, I'm not sure about having an app either. My old Fiorenzato Bricoletta is still working great after 11 years. Will an app be supported that long? Maybe it doesn't matter as you can always keep an old phone around to keep it all working if development stops. Hard to know.
Great information. Bad camera direction. Please stop with this setup... he is blocking the machine-product you are trying to review most of the video. Figure out your camera angles. Makes me not want to watch your reviews.
My machine will be here Tuesday. Pricing is relative. I think it's an absolutely beautiful machine. If it makes coffee half as good as it looks, I will be a very happy camper.
I see, is a hate or love scenario‼️ ...nothing in between. For me is pure love ❤️ getting mine next week.
How does this compare with the Faemina which is similar?
The Faemina has less features, the app isn't as feature rich either. Would love to hear if VA fixed all the e1 issues. I keep hearing its still meh.

Does this have pressure profiling?
Question, I don’t have my machine plumbed in to the water supply. What kind of water should I use?
Finally! I've been waiting for this review since they released the sneak peek video!!
How does your app not show preinfusion settings?
Nicely done. Would love to see a crew comparison to the Rocket R Nine One.
That “I’m not great with celsius, I’m sorry.” cracks me up 😂

Can you set prewetting / preinfusion setting here?
Love this machine, that pump sounds so cool, almost a whistle. What grinders would you suggest to pair with this for light commercial use (a coffee cart)? I’ve heard the atom heats up grounds if used too much?
Yes it does. Just like every other grinder except the Mythos. But with the atom 75 it's not tooo bad. I would guess a shot per minute would be fine.
I am having my machine shipped and will arrive in the next 2 months. I will use atom 75 and zenith HS as i will grind two types of coffee blend in my shop.

I don’t use it commercially but an old Mazzer Major is working well for me. 83mm burrs don’t get too hot. But if you can afford a Mythos- go for it.
They really could have done better than to use chrome-plated plastic switches for steam/water at this price point 🤷♂️

Am I missing details.. is this machine HX or Dual Boiler?
It has dual boiler, so it heats up in 5 mins or so, it has 2 litres of steam/hot water boiler and 140ml brew boiler
My dream espresso machine
It looks like you cannot descale the machine???!! Only back flush
Where you able to get the low tank light off? If so what you did?
How do you empty the boiler?
Great video, I don't have the Easycream option, the app is a little buggy though, maybe I'll try to do an app video.
The one comment about the taste is "Pretty Good" @23:23. I know your going to do a more in depth review once you have used it for a while. Right?
Great video. Would love Mark to do an internal review of this machine. Especially talking about the "Neo" technology.
