My Chinese friends never really see me as on of them, some of them think me speaking in Chinese is showing off... which is laughable cause when they speak English I think it’s perfectly normal. I try to make Canadian friends, but most people the moment they hear I’m from Pakistan they start off with their flawed opinions about terrorism, and when I tell them I grew up in China it’s about communism. Guzzy is such an attentive/active listener. He respects the speaker and take notes. RESPECT. This is how conversations should be had...a lot of people don't understand the art of conversation, even if you may or may not agree.
I kinda don’t agree that the pandemic hit everyone equally. People that are more privileged don’t have to worry about things like job security (as much) and isolating in tiny places. I think in some ways this pandemic highlighted the gap. EDIT: Thanks so much for this. I felt like I was with a group of friends. The topics discussed hit home.
I am proud you are using your platform to help the community where you come from. I am a tech professional in London and so often see the struggles we face even getting good jobs in tech (for Muslims) let alone anything else and so often if some do make it big they leave behind their community want to suck up to anyone in power and step over the down trodden. Keep working, keep striving, keep succeeding in everything and keep being yourself.

Riz Ahmed, Guz Khan and Hasan Minhaj you guys are an inspiration....... stay well, stay healthy and stay happy. Thank you for sharing this conversation.
Love this vibe of three of the most influential Asians of our time coming out on screen and talking and discussing subjects like this. Big up Guz, Riz and Hasan Minhaj
Bravo Riz, you are a true inspiration! You have choosen the less trodden path for a celebrity of your stature and not a spectator. Keep it up, this is just the start. Best trio, could we have more of these please.
thank you to everyone for starting the conversation, ''Victim hood'' so so true, its not where you from its where you at ! the whole Earth belongs to the one and only, we travel and keep moving
So this is something that I feel is something that we could talk about too. In a movie like Crazy Rich Asians.... the common misconception that “Asians” are only the ones from East/South East Asia. Very rarely are South Asians and those of us from the South Asian diaspora are not a part of the conversation of representation.
@Andy See ....in ur point of view may be...but i remembered u British singer zayn malik have also won asian award ...basically his Father from Pakistan ...
All three of you, I love all your work and we desperately need you to carry on with it especially in the current climate. I am certain you are breaking down the barriers.
Love , love, love this discussion. Riz Ahmed is so friggn' wonderful, talented, smart, etc. I could talk (listen) to him everyday! Love everything he acts in; Sound of Metal is amazing.
If all the comments up there were not already convincing enough, I'm just gonna say it again: the world needs more of you three together. I want to thank you Riz for working up this brilliant idea of having a woke conversation with two of those people we want to hear so much more from. I am a 22 year old Pakistani completing a degree from a good university in Karachi. Yet I always dream of and am surrounded by close friends who always look forward to moving abroad, finding a home in U.K or U.S.A and this may serve as a third perspective but we never quite realize that even after having made so much of a name in a foreign land, there is still so much you can go through as a South Asian brown Muslim. This piece of conversation was therefore truly enlightening. I also particularly want to acknowledge the point you made about the impact always being made no matter whatever little you do. That one should not worry about the consequences or overthink about who is going to watch them, acknowledge them or be impacted by them. As a proof of this phenomenon, let me tell you that I first read about you at the back of an Urdu magazine when I was hardly 12 years old. And I thought wow this looks like an amazing person, I wish I could know more of him. But back then we didn't have Wi-Fi or a smart phone or anything that could connect us to millions of people in a few seconds. But today almost 10 years later I discovered your channel and was able to see this video. And I think this the true miraculous beauty of 'impact' as it can touch a million souls in a plethora of different time zones without you even ever knowing.
This was a gem. So much knowledge being dropped and covered so many important issues. I really liked the discussion on imposter complex and trauma. I always feel that trauma is part of transformation. And to find your voice is to overcome imposter complex. At the end of the day, you got to be you and create for you.
I connected with this so much. Thank you for being true to yourselves. The bit about only being able to represent yourself hits so close to home. Please keep these videos coming. I'll live for them.

Also thank you for noting the sisters also need to be given a space listen Muslim women get the imposter syndrome going into the mosque! Oh Riz, it’s ok for people to fall into a victimhood mentality when they are a victim of their circumstance (I.e. racism or class). Do not feel like you need to transcend the pain because the best coping mechanism is to acknowledge it and confront it in the best way that you can.
Andy See yeah..... loads.. I’m a British pakistani so it’s normal to see white comedians on tv all the time but hardly ever see my fave brown comedians..... and before you ask I have fave black comedians aswell.....
Andy See it’s what guz and riz are... parents born in Pakistan but our generation was born in Britain and raised here.. so that makes us British Pakistanis
@Andy See British Pakistani is the box we have to tick on any form we come across, be that applying for a job or any other form of identity questionaire. You seem to have a problem with the fact that we have a diverse identity in that regard, why don't you first take your questions to government officials that also make us highlight that diversity. Tbh, even if we referred to ourselves as just British, people would have a problem with it. The majority of us are proud of all our heritage, and comfortable with it. Perhaps you should interrogate your own anxieties.
Thank you so much for making this interview guys! Would love to see all 3 of you in a movie together. And you guys should know that all 3 of your work is making a global impact and change. This interview alone is really refreshing for people like myself who are also struggling with many of the questions you guys are discussing. How do we balance between creating something for ourselves vs entering the machine, who do we run by our ideas with and do we really need permission to do our thing? This is amazing. Really, my prayers with you, Riz, Hasan and Guz. Looking forward to seeing more from you guys and the rest of the global Muslim artists!
