Comprehensive, detailed and concise.. this is THE DEFINITIVE guide to 7th Chords.. how can this content be free? It's worth an annual subscription to your Patreon for this lesson alone!.. Top work as always
Thank you Johnny! Stoked that you liked this addition to the Theory playlist. Did the video freeze at the end for you? Been in touch with TH-cam trying to get them to fix it.
@@JonnyReturns NOPE. I will message them again, really wouldn't want to have to upload it again. I guess it was only my final thoughts but still, annoying.
Thank you so much for your lessons. Your teaching is in perfect pace. Slow enough to follow with my slowly brain, but also fast enough so I don’t need to skip forward. And thank you for not explaining, wich string, fret, finger I should press.
Hey Sped! You should do a lesson on “San Francisco” that Led Zeppelin plays during the dazed and confused performance at MSG 1973. I’ve tried figuring it out by myself but I just can’t get close. Thanks for all the great content!🤙
Sped I am now your 113rd Patreon supporter. CHEERS! It was not a lightbulb moment Sped, It was in the simple counting up notes by 7(and variations of a particular chord) which gives us the interesting, jazzy (in most cases) chords. It will take work , but you gave me a platform to jump in with! Edit: Yup, Sped was right. This is tougher than I thought man.I really wish I learned more theory at the beginning of my journey thru the guitar learning curve.
Welcome to the Sped's patron's gang. The trick isn't learning something complicated, it's discovering the simplicity in something that you USED to think was complicated.
YES! Thank you for making your way over, promise you won't regret it. Definitely take your time with new concepts like this, it's better to fully understand them before running off with a load of shapes and no context.
@@SpedSpedding yes Sped, I do tend to leave the nest and fly with an idea or new technique or piece of theory before I am certain of where it will shine.
I've been playing for 35 years and I still get confused about this stuff. I have lost count of how many times I have learned it. Use it or lose it kind of thing. Happy new year and congrats on 50k subs.
Thank you! If you spend a long enough session studying it, applying it and even discussing it with other musical friends it will sink in. Think about things you do that you’ll never forget and then ask yourself why you’ll never forget them. Then apply that to new stuff. 🙌🏻
You're welcome Steve. Yeah you're right, just picked up the axe and it goes from E to the Minor7th then back a semitone to the Maj6th. Cool little riff.
Ah yeah they creep up a few times in there don't they. Glad you enjoyed that song tutorial. This lesson just covers what they are and how they're constructed.
Well I thought I understood what a 7th was and now I REALLY understand what a 7th is. Another butt-numbingly brilliant lesson. The annotated TAB is a very useful complement to the video.
i was watching your lesson peacefully...and then all of a sudden....somewhere in the middle....you started to "hussle" me......now i'm all hussled......and out of wack....:-)
Nice lesson, very well done. You've made a concept that might confuse some & demonstrated in such a way as to simplify it. Everything is more easily understood in C.... This lesson made me decide to subscribe & went to hit that subscribe button but I was already subscribed.... so come on...lol I suppose Patron is the next consideration!
This was an eye opener for me Sped. I felt out of my depth at first , but by video`s end, I had landed on my feet firmly. You are an excellent teacher, and a good mate to me as well. What the video really did for me was to look at writing in a new and interesting way. As always, Cheers ,my good man! By the way....what is the new tattoo?
Ah thank you my friend. When I hear comments like this I am so happy; what was the lightbulb moment here? The new tattoo is Slash from November Rain outside the church.
36.4k subs is a crime against nature and humanity. But it's ok 36.4k of us can receive some of the best guitar educational videos out there. ( The others will come :)
Thank you! 36.4k strong. I feel like things will pick up now I'm focusing more on educational and original stuff. The channel has been a mixed bag over the years.

Thank you Mike! Obviously love this comment. Glad you’re getting so much from all the videos I put out. Hi to the dogs. 🐕
Thanks Sped. Always enjoy your lessons. The way you break things down makes it a lot easier to grasp

I second this, it's my fav part of the live performance. It's short and sweet.

fantastic content Sped Spedding. I crushed that thumbs up on your video. Keep up the terrific work.

Nice accompaniment to the harmonizing the C maj scale!
Yeah it’s the next step. I often find people know the shapes and names but have no idea what’s going on within the shape.
Yeah, I love how this way of thinking ties together scales, chords and arpeggios
I already know 7 chords. But I am on Patreon so now I can get 7 pdf's. Oh, you said 7th. Great lesson Sped.
Haha, imagine if there was only 7 chords. 😂
