Hohem ISteady Pro 4 - Issues! Problems

- After about a month of using the Hohem ISteady Pro 4 gimbal, I've decided it's going back! There are two issues with this gimbal that I find are too annoying, and make it not suitable to use. In this video I will reveal what these two issues are, in case you might be considering buying this gimbal.

Mine has randomly turned off as well. And the ROLL axis wobbles creating an unsteady shot as well as random corrections. Seems the problems with this one are getting worse over time and not better.

Yeah mine doesn't stay calibrated. It has a slight tilt. When I calibrate it, it seems to work for a bit then goes back to slightly tilted. Also, my gimbal doesn't charge my GoPro. Highly disappointed.
Hi - yes, it really does seem too many people have had issues with this gimbal with the GoPro so unfortunately this is not a good solution. The only solution I have found that is reliable so far is Crane M2S + GoPro + remote to trigger, but that is a much more expensive gimbal
mine is also decalibrated, i can't fix it!
I get the same issue with the crane shots.
Mine has a mind of its own. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now. When I set the motionlapse it goes the complete opposite way to the way I set it up. When I use it to film it jumps around and ruins my videos. Absolutely useless. Do not buy!
Oh mine I don't think was as bad as that, though I did have some annoying issues with it jumping about too. I didn't try the motionlapse at all, as I'd given up with it by then. I don't know why it's got such rave reviews.
same..mine even shakes left n right a little bit when i’m rolling the gimbal making the footage shaky and not usable..the only way to counter this is to switch on the stabiliser..but when I pan the gimbal will stuck few times making the panning footage not smooth and again ruin the footage..
Hi, interesting you have got the same behaviour. I was tempted to try again with another at one point, but after reading your comments I'm not sure I will now. I think the only gimbal that seems to work well with the GoPro is the Zihyun Crane M2S.
I have other problem, when using motionlapse sometimes it just turns off randomly. While using it without smartphone everyrhing is ok. They could fix all this with simple update
Hi thanks for the comment and for the update. I don't have the Hohem anymore so can't tet this - is it possible that there is a autopower off setting that is switching off the gimbal? My Pocket 3 kept switching off during recording and it was down to the auto power off setting. So maybe something similar is causing it?
Mine was buggy too. Joystick panning left was slow and when the gimbal was plugged in to charge the GoPro would start up, not sure why. Solution was to turn GoPro Bluetooth off, then plug in gimbal to charge.
Hi - thanks for the comment. I find that the GoPro always comes on whenever it's being charged with a USB power which I find is really annoying. I'll try your tip of switching off bluetooth to see if it stops it doing that.
I just got one today. I am using it with a Gopro Hero 9 Black. Everything works fine, I have the app for both the gimbal and the Gopro and yet the trigger on the gimbal does nothing, I tried it in various modes but still it does not make the camera spi. Any suggestions please?
Hi - thanks for the comment. Great that your works fine as I had some issues with mine. Unfortunately I don't have the gimbal any more due to the issues so can't check, but I'm sure the trigger is only used to reset the gimbal back to center (if pressed twice) so if it's in the center position and press the trigger twice then it will not do anything. Try moving the gimbal with the joystick to an angle then double clicking the trigger to see if it resets to center. Holding in the trigger will mean the gimbal responds quicker. For the spin mode, if I remember correctly it needs to be in PF mode and then put it in a horizontal position and use the joystick to make it spin. Though I'm doing this from memory so cant' check.

It's all unstable. This is my 2nd gimbal of this type, from which I expected a lot and bought another one because I thought the first series was faulty.... I use it with Gopro Hero 7 Black and it stabilizes incorrectly, it wobbles to the right and left with every movement. Stabilization is off on the gopro.
I should add that I do not experience this with the Karma grip. I wanted to replace the karma grip with this one...
Does anyone know of a solution to this dust problem?
Hi - thanks for sharing your experience with the gimbal. I also noticed similar that you did with the gimbal so sent it back - wobbling to the left and right is not good!
Hi I was wondering if there has been any fixes. I just purchased mine a little over a month now. And mine has a little twitch in it when I move certain ways.

Same problem for me. I found this video looking for some solution. Sometimes the gimbal change direction without an external input. I tryed to recalibrate it but nothing changed. I would know if it's a problem of some items or if is a problem of this model. I bought it in order to have a more cinematografic footage, but at the moment it is completely unuseful. I'm so disappointed and I have to return it..
Hi, thanks for your comment. Very interesting that you have the same problem as me. I thought perhaps I was unlucky. I was tempted to try a replacement in case it was just one, but after your comment, I'm not sure.
There is also the Inkee Falcon Plus gimbal. I had issues with the first one too (kept wandering off on it's own), but I got a replacement which does not have the issue. I took it on holiday for a couple of weeks to test it hard and it performed well most of the time. There were a couple of minor issues with it sometimes losing the connnection to the GoPro and had to be reset, but that could be fixed. It's a bit hit and miss though. I have a couple of videos showing the Inkee gimbal and my experiences if you are interested:

Other than that, the only other gimbal is the Zhiyun Crane M2S, which is more professional/bigger and performs perfectly (but is twice the price and doesn't allow controlling of the GoPro unfortunately).

Many thanks for the further information. I decided to return the Isteady and not give it another try. Even without issues I think it's not that useful with a GoPro 11. I've seen some reviews of the Falcon and it seems its stabilization is slightly worse. what do you think? I'm evaluating Insta Flow, perhaps with my next phone, after all the result with an action camera is remarkable, but still limited

If it's possible to return it - maybe see if I was just unlucky and return it if you have the same issue? I did have a bit more luck with the Inkee Falcon alternative. The first one had issues, but the second replacement seems much better. I have some videos with my experience with that gimbal if you are looking for an alternative. Otherwise the only other gimbal, is the Crane M2S, that performs perfectly but is much much more expensive 😬

Hi - I have the Crane M2S and M3 but no experience of the Moza Aircross so can't comment on that model, but it looks similar to the Cranes. The M2S pairs moves smoothly with the GoPro and small cameras. It's similar to the M3 but lighter and cheaper. The Cranes can't control the GoPros directly though from the gimbals, but I use a GoPro remote on the wrist or Volta on the base of the gimbal to trigger the camera. I'm sure if you go for either the Cranes or the Moza it'll be fine. Best wishes

Hi - Nice, it's a good gimbal I'm sure you'll like it. As an alternative to the GoPro Remote, the Telesin GoPro remote works well. It does for me anyway and it's about half the price. I don't use heavily, but strap it to my wrist to fire the camera on and off while on the gimbal. Seems easy to pair and so far, no issues.

Yes it could be user error indeed! I didn't have much patience with this gimbal though. I have maybe 6 gimbals of different manufacturers and models and don't have as much trouble as this Hohem one!
