This FrankfurtAirport speedrun is my favourite of any you've done so far, Danya. Maybe because you're more experienced as a streamer/TH-camr, maybe because of the theme of playing solid, deliberate moves, maybe because even the lower-rated games have been relatively blunder free so there's been more to think about, but either way every video has been so instructional. Thanks so much for these videos.

Being a beginner his comment around 4:55 about “in such positions” is valuable because I usually have no clear idea what the phrase means in context (what factors make the position such a position).

I thought I heard from a lot of strong players that the grunfeld is not really recommended unless you have a very high rating, say 1900+ or even higher. I'm guessing Daniel doesn't agree with that take?

Ok just leaving this here: I was literally so shocked that you are considering recommending the Grünfeld. I've played it a bit myself and even though everyone speaks against it, I found it was my favorite response to 1. d4, very enjoyable to play because of the open center and the clarity of the position. But in the past you've spoken against it, and more recently I've found myself following your opening recommendations having more success with them, so I thought, "he's probably right, I'll leave the Grünfeld to the side until I'm 2000 or sth and then we'll see, maybe the King's Indian or the occasional QGD will fit me better. It's not like I'm gonna have a curated repertoire in the Grünfeld from Danya so as not to get lost in all the tons of theory 🙄". And yet! Lol, so I'm pretty excited, I'm hoping you end up going for it.

9:13 I'd like to see you play out moves that the audience suggests that still work as a good move. Especially at these lower levels. Or moves that you see a lot of audience members suggesting but don't negatively impact the game even if it does make it a little more challenging. Because this is the move that most people will choose in a real game so it would be great for you to go down that road. And instead explain the move that you would have chosen and give us the rundown on it after the game is over. This way more of your audience members get a real world example of what they'd be most likely to use as their move.

I think it's best to include KID in the repertoire instead of Grunfeld since you're basically an expert of the former and it's kinda hard to find good material on it, it's also easy to transpose into it regardless of white's setup which makes it really versatile imo, I always try to play it against d4 but often get crushed because I don't know the theory at all lmao

I thought when facing the English with black that it was the same as a sicilian colors reversed, if you play e4 first. So I would normally play Alapin. But I looked it up and apparently I'm playing a qgd slav winawer counter gambit. Is this just a different name of the same thing? Is just having colors reversed force a name change? Or am I just a dumb human who messed this up? Appreciate the help from anyone. Peace

I love hearing the verbose explanations for learning purposes, but I keep thinking it must be tilting the shit out of his opponents when he takes forever to make a move that would normally never take so long if the verbosing wasn't happening. Personally when I play and this happens (my opponent takes forever to make an obvious move) it always tilts me and induces snap plays that I usually regret.
I would bet money that a lot of the games in lower ELO where Danya's opponent blunders a piece in ridiculous fashion was likely the tilt they're experiencing from waiting so long for each move by Big D.
Of course Higher ELO players are refined to not feel this tilt and logically use their patience to play proper, but I bet the low ELO players start to see the clock get low and play on hoping the clock runs out, completely un-aware that their actually facing a high-level GM LOL.

This was my favorite speed run game in a while! I was afraid that the b6 knight might be vulnerable to a4-a5 and was also scared to move my b8 bishop due to white's fianchettoed bishop and Q-side pressure, but it turns out these fears were unfounded and that I was seeing ghosts in the position. Really rich game as Danya said!

Danya ramping up the frequency of the content and I am here for it. The Only person on TH-cam for which I will religiously watch every single video. All that is missing is a podcast hosted by Danya and Yasser or Danya and Hess!

Is it just me or do the people in the speedrun play super super well for their ratings.
I usually see people lost in 15 moves or some crazy shit happening at that rating.

TH-cam sounds fine for the most part, some videos you were quiet or my phone is just old but no cutting in or out or anything

I thought the Grunfeld was an opening beginner/intermediate players shouldn't play?
