Man I’m telling you the best pen in the world is the pilot g2. Writes after being left in my truck overnight in freezing weather. Stays in my pants pocket. Lightweight, writes smooth and takes a long time to run out of ink. I sign my name 14 times a day plus paperwork and it is the best.
That’s certainly one of the most popular pens around. It’s not my favorite, but I would t fault anyone for using one. I have a bunch of them.
I see you are a man of culture as well. Can't go wrong with ole reliable.
You can put g2 cartridges in these bastion pens if want to have a pretty indestructible version of a g2

I have the later versions of the urban survival gear tiscribe bolt and they are very good.
I might consider a titanium or aluminum version of the bastion pen. I see them on Amazon for example for a good price but I was waiting for a review. I appreciate your thoughts on it!
Very interesting
If you don’t like the weight or size I highly recommend checking out their “slim” models. I’ve used both extensively and honestly prefer the slim a lot more. I currently only own the aluminum version in the slim but honestly recommend the stainless or titanium versions. The aluminum can be a bit too soft if you drop your pen a lot like I do. That being said, I’ve dropped my aluminum off of tall ladders multiple times and it still looks great, just a flat spot or two around the tip. Nothing that effects the functionality
Does the bolt pen ever get altered to be used as a gun ? Intellagent answer please .
I've had one of these for a few years and it's nice. I took the clip off because it was an option and I'm not about that clip life.
It does look very solid. Heavy pens are hard on my hands, though. The weird pricing puzzles me. But an excellent review.
I think you could fix the rattle by just putting some foam in the housing to take up space
Finally, a pen I can use as a hammer!

The Bastion fountain pens are on Amazon for about $30 (aluminum body; SS and titanium are available at a higher price). They come with #5 fine nibs of unknown provenance. Tempted to buy one to see how well it's made. In any case, great video, as always! Thanks!

@@inkdependence I don't know but I went ahead and ordered one in aluminum. Customer reviews on Amazon appear to say it doesn't post securely and it might be a bit short but other people say it writes nicely so we shall see. In any event, a very happy holiday season to you and your lovely wife!
Nice collection you have there! Bastion must have fixed the rattle. I have the aluminum version and there’s 0 rattle in any bolt position.

Hard pressed to find a good rollerball or gel refill that fits. The hole in the tip by the thread is too small/narrow for most to fit so limited refill options from a non-ballpoint perspective - at least in all the brands I like a lot. I like my Bastion (been using the one they sent me for the last week or so with my video going up this weekend).
There are some good gel refills from Monteverde and (I think) Parker out there. Probably some Schmidt rollerballs will fit, but I gave this pen away so I can't test it.
When talking about rattling noise, are you sure the cartridge is seated inside properly?
It's definitely the bolt-action mechanism. It's not a huge deal, but it is a piece of fit/finish folks should know about.
Anyone know what version g2 ink refill these pens take? I just ordered some and they're too big. The cartridges the bastion come with are awful. I have the titanium bastion pen
So, if you’re in the USA the “G2” refill is a long gel pen refill, and this uses what we generally call a “Parker style” refill that is most often a shorter, metal, ballpoint refill like the Easyflow 9000. In the UK (and probably elsewhere) that “Parker style” refill is called the “G2.” So it can be confusing.

Is it slippery?
I don't think so. The steel is brushed enough that it has some grip.
Mike- is this pen a Chinese-made pen, or is it made in America? Just asking for a friend. :):):)
It says "Designed in USA" so I'm assuming that they're not made here. There's no way to know where exactly they are made.
