I’m playing three varsity sports and have a 1410 after taking it 3 times, but I took it a 4th time and know I’ll be able to super score to at least a 1450. Not to say that everything else wasn’t extremely time consuming, but just what you listed isn’t difficult at all.

Very informative bro !I got a 1350 in my SAT and I improved 100 points from my first time, and honestly I studied a lot alone with khan academy so it was stressful but I feel proud of this score , so hopefully with my gpa i can get into a good college , idk if I should even try to apply to IVYs though .
Im a rising senior and this somehow inspires me 😂 the editing has me weak I keep having to rewind and your test scores inspire me as well. I do IB diploma and I’ve managed to have a A,B,C in my classes junior year and it’s really just be hard and I just keep getting told by my counselor that colleges will understand because they know IB diploma is a lot of work . My gpa rn is a 3.5 so I’m hoping that comes up with the first semester of my senior year . And I’ve taken the ACT 4x and I haven’t gotten my latest score back yet but I think imma just stop and turn more of my attention to the SAT because I’ve never actually taken it before and I might just have better luck with that. I find that the only things going for me are the fact that I know how to write a good essay and my extracurriculars

This has explained a lot about the american college system to me. I am Australian and we don't have a lot of this stuff to get into University. We have an ATAR in NSW (like your SAT score kinda) and it is made up of all your assignments over the last two years of high school and the major exams that are the same for everyone in the state. They also only use your top 10 units to judge your ATAR so everyone has the same weighting. There is a guide released by all the universities that tells you the courses they offer and what subjects you must take in high school to be considered. It also tells you the lowest ATAR scores they accepted for that course the year before so you know how high you have to aim. That's pretty much it for what you need to apply for college in NSW Australia. Though med has an extra exam and some courses might look at your extra curriculars. I got into a smaller university through a program where it was based entirely on teacher recommendation and test scores rather than my ATAR. This makes my head spin. Getting into an American university seems to take luck and guess work.

Well that kind of sucks but a lot of these like ivy league / top schools always brag about how they have a curriculum that is open and allows students to explore different classes instead of being limited by a curriculum so, when these essay questions come up you could possibly write about that experience and how the required classes for IB didn't allow you to explore all the areas of knowledge that you were interested in

Doka It depends on what type of classes you take. Gpa doesn’t start in a normal curriculum until 9th grade but if you take some advance courses in middle school it could start then. In my case it took Spanish 1, 2, and 3 in middle school so all three of those classes were counted in my gpa and colleges saw them. Also I took geometry in 8th grade and that counted toward my high school gpa. You should be able to ask your counselor what classes are going to count toward your gpa
queenvv Schools want you to take the most rigorous courses that ur school offers so if they don’t offer IB it’s fine. They will see that ur school doesn’t offer IB and will see that ur still taking the most rigorous courses that ur school offers so don’t worry about it too much.

No I didn’t include NHS on my app. I got rejected because my school has a specific group of kids they really like and I wasn’t in that group 🤷🏾♂️ but no I don’t think it matters much. For the most part they can see right through that extracurricular and can tell that people just join to look better for colleges. It’s probably better to find extracurriculars that show your academic interest anyways but if you can get in like next year maybe it wouldn’t hurt.

ImWolf85 schools don’t look at just GPA they look at the courses you take and your extracurriculars too. If you get As in your aps I’m sure your final average gpa is going to way above 2.9 and you’re doing tons of clubs and extracurriculars so you’re doing good I would say
charlinda if you are aiming for Ivy’s some require the essay and it is good to take. The grading on it is kind of stupid but you should take it if you are aiming for selective schools.

I have started my own organization. I also have taken 5 honor classes and 12 AP classes and 4 years of language. I just feel like that my GPA will affect my chance of getting in. I would feel more reassured if I had someone like you give me an opinion. (I am also first generation American)
Siya Katoch mostly depends in ur essay im pretty sure tbh. this guy had abt an average gpa but im sure he included his brothers tragicdeath in his essay which ultimately boosted his essay. as long as ur story’s good, u have a pretty good chance. especially if ur first generation and have the background u do (aside from the average gpa)

How do you get into 3 ivy's with a 1450 SAT & 3.86 GPA? This is unreal.

Doka It depends on what type of classes you take. Gpa doesn’t start in a normal curriculum until 9th grade but if you take some advance courses in middle school it could start then. In my case it took Spanish 1, 2, and 3 in middle school so all three of those classes were counted in my gpa and colleges saw them. Also I took geometry in 8th grade and that counted toward my high school gpa. You should be able to ask your counselor what classes are going to count toward your gpa

queenvv Schools want you to take the most rigorous courses that ur school offers so if they don’t offer IB it’s fine. They will see that ur school doesn’t offer IB and will see that ur still taking the most rigorous courses that ur school offers so don’t worry about it too much.

No I didn’t include NHS on my app. I got rejected because my school has a specific group of kids they really like and I wasn’t in that group 🤷🏾♂️ but no I don’t think it matters much. For the most part they can see right through that extracurricular and can tell that people just join to look better for colleges. It’s probably better to find extracurriculars that show your academic interest anyways but if you can get in like next year maybe it wouldn’t hurt.

tabitha my extended essay topic was “A Comparative Evaluation of the Dream Theories of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung with Reference to the Respective Theories of Unconscious and theories of Personality Development” Basically I compared the dream theories of these two psychologists and then explained the differences in their dream theories using other theories they had made prior to their dream theories.

ImWolf85 schools don’t look at just GPA they look at the courses you take and your extracurriculars too. If you get As in your aps I’m sure your final average gpa is going to way above 2.9 and you’re doing tons of clubs and extracurriculars so you’re doing good I would say

charlinda if you are aiming for Ivy’s some require the essay and it is good to take. The grading on it is kind of stupid but you should take it if you are aiming for selective schools.

When you say take sat a lot , do you mean like practice or take the real sat test

Do I have a good chance to get into an ivy league school because the only thing that is dragging me down is my GPA? I have a 4.23 weighted GPA and a 3.69 unweighted GPA. (I had two c's). I have a 35 on the ACT. I am a second-degree black belt and have been doing Indian classical dance for 13 years. I had two internships (one at a fertility clinic and one community service). I have 250+ community hours. I am lead of a tutoring program for elementary schools in Georgia and planned a 5k run (raised 8,000 dollars). I also have been a speaker at many events. I have started my own organization. I also have taken 5 honor classes and 12 AP classes and 4 years of language. I just feel like that my GPA will affect my chance of getting in. I would feel more reassured if I had someone like you give me an opinion. (I am also first generation American)
Siya Katoch mostly depends in ur essay im pretty sure tbh. this guy had abt an average gpa but im sure he included his brothers tragicdeath in his essay which ultimately boosted his essay. as long as ur story’s good, u have a pretty good chance. especially if ur first generation and have the background u do (aside from the average gpa)
