The 2004 election previewed a lot of what was to come. The Swiftboat campaign against John Kerry was probably the point when alternative facts completely took over the Republican Party. It was the blueprint for what the GOP did to Obama and an instructive lesson that people would believe constructed alternative realities if it suited their partisan preferences.

Amen, but Conservatives takes the insults as a compliment
Jed music. True. I'm not necessarily here to establish a political case (My views are libertarian Conservative thought) but it's just stunning how similar those insults are used concerning political arguments. Hence that comment I made one month ago. Thank you for the reply, and be well!
@@andertheepicgamer8027 Thanks, you as well
If the left proposes a Obama/Romneycare they're communists, and if they propose an entirely public health care system then they're... communists. So why not go all way, imo.
@joseph ramirez thanks for restoring my faith in humanity slightly

The JibJab cartoons are the last gasp of an era when political humorists would poke fun at all sides. Now political humor is thoroughly partisan, and its practitioners wear their party ID on their lapels.

@@ncs2195 True.
"I won three purple hearts" was my response to pretty much any challenging question in 2004. Simpler times.
well back then politics in the US weren't seen as such a personal affair, mainly just governmental one, now people are so involved that if anyone that says anything about their side thats not praising it like a god, then they get all pissy and yell at you - left? right? fucking up down whatever, its all the same
I remember watching this when I was 12 omg, watching it now at almost 24 is scary
Holy fuck, you're right. What happened to me?
this video was released in 2004, i was born in 1992, I was 12 when this came out
It appears someone else is the one that needs some edumacation.
unpopped , you're lucky, I remember bush (better one)- Dukakis after pop-pop "retired," we survived that...we can deal with it.

I can really appreciate how JibJab didn't pick sides. Especially in the comparison to the 2020 election
I love the Bill Clinton getting smacked gag so much
This is what we need to bring back. Satirical humor that goes both ways, not left nor right.
Imagine living in Massachusetts and having George Bush Dox you
I remember watching this with my dad when I was little lol What a time that was! Miss you dad, RIP
A great tradition is watching this every election night.
1:17 Quite a foreshadowing of Bush's second term
I'd say I'm still here after a couple of decades, but the truth is I never left.
Can we go back to both sides being able to take criticism without catastrophizing every disagreement? Man I am done with modern politics.
We also need to go back to when political humor/satire wasn't toxic and everything wasn't politicized.
can't believe kerry and bush really met up to make this... outstanding
I remember laughing at this as a kid without really knowing fully what was going on. So innocent.
Even after all these years, the line "You can't say nuclear. That really scares me" makes me laugh
Here in 2024 and when Trump was announced as the Winner, I immediately said "wait a minute, Kerry still won 3 purple hearts!"
"3 purple hearts" almost became "I grew up in a middle-class family"
"Hey you got that Botox." " But I still won three purple hearts!"
I have no idea why but this line makes me laugh so damn hard.
Because he won 3 Purple Hearts!

Nicecatholicgirl It was a more tasteful time
I know I miss those days... very much so...

@Zachary William Naive child. Always bringing a short sighted, biased, political statement with nothing to add to the conversation. ifly made a general comment on everyones cost. And you, the Trump puppet you are, had to ruin it.
@Zachary William Referencing to my previous comment.
@Zachary William Dodge questions? Well, if anything, you just stumbled in your own word pile of trash. Allow me to correct you. You made an assumption. There is no question to dodge. However, if I were to take stance in response to your assumptions, it would still be arbitrary, as you made them for the mere purpose of provocation. Which is… low. Again, I am referencing my first comment. I think you should not dodge reading it. Or you will dodge the point this time also.
@Zachary William You seem to be agitated by the fact that my arguments still stand firmly. It is not hard to be right when there is nothing to prove me wrong. Only provocations. Countering my points with childish taunts just proves to me that I do not need to say more. Your responses show me that you either do not read or comprehend what I say. Let me put it this way: It is not easy getting through a brick wall when your tool is a wood stick. I can do this all day and still be correct and factual, while you will never get out of this digression. And what are you rambling about? Education and graduation? Just some silly attempt at personal attacks. Lastly, I do not need a solid point. You just throw sh*t. I can just keep my moral high ground and integrity forever. Now pick it up and throw something I can dodge for once.
Fun fact: John Kerry has again won 3 Purple Hearts
