Thank you both - this seems to be the simplest, most concise explanation of starting a Battletech game, movement, shooting, damage etc. Every other one I have watched has made it seem quite complicated - which obviously isn’t to begin with, just gets more complicated the more involved you WANT it to be.
Thank you for your great feedback! 😁👍 Yes, the wonderful thing about these games is that you can start with quite straightforward rules and then amp it up to your personal taste.
Subbed! Your video just appeared while I was indeed searching for Classic and A.S beginner rules. Nice video, now I need to find for Classic if you have any😆
Wait. At the start of the second turn, why didn't Lok simply move away? If you chose to move first by your house rule, her reaction could have simply been to move away. Or move behind for the rear shot. Or close on the immobile mech. As far as I understand, there is no rule stating she would lose her movement. And you couldn't have performed a charge, as the rules for that state the target mech must have already completed their move. I'm very confused by this chain of events.
I need to learn Alpha Strike. I’ve never played even though I have accumulated cards playing the original game for almost a year. I will be watch your series of videos. I did notice when you engaged Mech Commander Loks mech for physical attack she didn’t move during that phase. I watched it a few times. Maybe it’s a house rule like you mentioned or did I miss something? Either way thanks for going through the steps. I enjoyed the video and will continue to watch the rest. By the way you two look so good together. The energy I get from you two is awesome.
First of all thank you for your amazing feedback. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy our content. 😁😁👍 Yes, you are right: we were unclear about the close combat situation. Yes, every mech can move or choose to not move. She could have moved the mech out of the way. (The game considers all movement and shooting to happen at the same time). And yes, this little mishap is due to us using a house rule for a very long time. The rule that you can lock down another mech. We found that it leads to very interesting choices of sacrificing one to save another, or strategically moving something in the way. Try it in a game and see if you like it 😁😁.
I love that House Steiner and House Liao came together to teach this game. Haha, joking aside, this video was fantastic! You have a new subsriber. Thank you thank you. 👍
@@tabledropzone I was hoping that my joke would be taken well and not offensively. You two seem to have a really fun sense of humor and I've been enjoying your videos the last couple hours. I'll be gobbling them all up over the next few days. Well done well done.

Hi, So this is actually quite complex and I cannot describe it in detail in just a comment. But let me try anyway: In essence you take the base PV you see on the card and change it depending on the skill level. The amount of the PV determines how many points need to be added to or subtracted from the base PV. Example: a regular Pilot has skill 4. So this aligns for example with an Adder Prime PV of 30. If the pilot is a Veteran (Skill 3) then you check PV improved skill table between 28-32. There you see that you need to increase the PV by 6 points. I think the tables can be found in the basic rules you can download from the website of catalyst or you get in the alph strike box, but I'm not entirely sure. If you want it simpler, just increase the skill for all pilots. It's not clean but you don't need 3 tables to go calculate it. If this is a more wished for topic, we will maybe make a video about it at some point 🙂. I hope this helps a bit 😁😁👍

hexes make things so much easier!!😉
"hexagon is bestagon" 😁
It's a very different game, we like both!
Hexes work; try to ignore the "zig-zag" movements it causes. Open-table has its shortcomings, too. Honestly, I'd be happy iether way.
Thank you for the work on this video.

We lock Mechs into close combat once engaged.
You are right we should have made that more clear.

Would like to know how to increase your pilot skills.
