I had the matchbox version, the Blue and Yellow Lion had spring closed jaws (they were feet.) and both had opening heads, the yellow had cheek plates that opened to show little... gun nipples and the blue had a silver crown that raised up to reveal... a disabled projectile launcher. Lots of kids didn't know about that one. It would have been better if it had the sculpted crown of this one.
Oh, man.. memories... the Black lion had voltron's face in his mouth but it could be slid up into the roof of the mouth, as it was a seperate part from the jaw... but I think this version's poseability make it the superior version.
You do know they made a Diecast one back in the day looks 100% identical to this one but the heads on the Red and Green Cats Fired off and they and the same movement besides the little outer hinging but I can and the Jaws were not spring loaded your thinking of the Firing machinic of the heads. An yes the black lion on the older set was larger, wings were larger but head didn't move as much and again didn't have the outer hinging of legs but the old toy was still amazing. Great vid by the way
For a "Masterpiece" this leaves a lot to be desired. I think that it looks gangly. I have several voltrons that I've just kinda stumbled upon over the years. I think that the best one out there is one of the cheapest. The classic version released with the Netflix series. It's huge! It's sturdy and it looks great!
is this the version of this toy that the red lion and the green lion has an ejectablle head? and a few side leg weapon projectile attachment with the other lions? i remember owning one late 80s/ early 90s. how i wish i knew how to take good care of them rather than playing them roughly. haha
I own this 20th Anniversary Masterpiece Voltron he was my favorite anima cartoon to watch back in the day. Great review & go Voltron force!!!
I have this 20th Anniversary Voltron and I only put it together once!! It's been in the box ever since!!! I love it!!
Fantastic video and it's great to got this after selling your original figure. Matthew from RetroNow is an excellent dude, respect for the shout out.
Yes l had the Voltron lions, the castle loved it the robot was big and the pilots fits inside the lions
I wish I woulda held onto the Matchbox SDF-1, but I kinda had a revolving collection in the early 00s.

Nice. I would love to have that one, too. I have 3 voltrons, and my favorite is the Blitzway
Voltron, 5Pro Studio CARBOTIX Series
Beautiful I bought the Lego Version as soon as it came out.

I had Matchbox Voltron, had the castle of lions as well. But my brother did not want it, so it was returned for some other toys.
I believe I have this version

I have a Masterpiece Voltron too and I am very careful with it too.
I have this version. I placed it back in the book and displayed with my other Voltrons. Bought it in 2004.
The blitzway destroys that version u got there.
So Toynami released it again?

Alas, the heads don’t eject on those version lol
It very much has a: display piece only feel
collection binge and purge regret is the absolute worst
I know me and my brother Voltron lions were metal not plastic
Such outdated molds. The mainline playmates looks much better and offers more playability. This is trash.
You sure about that? Playmates can’t swivel the bicep and the chest rotates with the arm.
Pretty nasty thing to say.
