- Hi Star Wars collectors, check out my review of The Vintage Collection Speeder Bike & Scout Trooper set. Apparently the vehicle is an all new sculpt and has been packed in with a carded Scout Trooper (Biker Scout).
If you have the 2012 Toys R Us version then you may be forgiven for not seeing many obvious differences.

Good review Tim, unfortunately for me I won't be buying this, not at £52, it's way overpriced. Give it a year, when it's on Zavvi black Friday deal for 30 quid I'd consider it.

Yeah totally agree, even in the 80s this was a cheaper vehicle to buy. I passed on this due to price range, they shouldn't have included biker scout as then it could be used with endor Luke and Leia.
Brilliant review and although I’d rather they had reused the old bike and perfected the Biker Scout, this looks awesome and I can’t wait to get a few! Hope Hasbro does a bike subline: Anakin and Zephyr-G Swoop, Mando and Zepher-J swoop, imperial patrol trooper and Patrol Bike (vehicle is seen on Ferrix in Andor), Count Dooku and his bike etc. Cobb Vanth and his modified pod-racer bike
Seems the usual cut corners where they can and you get just an ok product. This was a really good opportunity to nail it but it is what it is. Excellent review as always

These retail for $45 in my area. Walmart was running a big sale and I was able to get 2 for the price of one. Glad I waited, these shouldnt be more than $20 anyway.

Hey, Bossk! Glad you got this one early. You've been beating the speeder bike drum for so long, I was very eager to hear your thoughts.
Here is my reaction to the video in ascending order of disappointment:
Hmm. The ventral gun doesn't swivel. A step backward! That's disappointing.
Oh, there's no silver paint on the engine components. That seems lazy and doesn't look nearly as good. Disappointing!
No foot pegs! Hmm, that'll make posing difficult for sure! I call that disappointing!
Oh, you can't stand up the bike on its own without the stand? Ridiculous! Very disappointing indeed!
WAIT, THE HANDLE BARS DON'T MOVE?! WHAT ON EARTH WERE THEY THINKING?!?! THEY JUST DESTROYED ANY CHANCE FOR POSING DIFFERENT FIGURES ON THE BIKE!! GAAAAH! DISAPPOINTING DOESN'T BEGIN TO COVER IT!
Whew....
A shame that, despite some solid aesthetics, this feels like a several steps backward from prior versions.

Got a few of these on order. ROTJ is my era of Star Wars and I love the Endor part of it. Can’t wait to get these and the bunker and put together a great scene! Great review as always - shame about cons on this but looking forward to it nethertheless. Definitely time for a new Leia sculpt! 😂😂

In march I sold my entire fully completed VC collection ,figures ,sdcc exclusives ,every vehicle ever released in the VC packaging , all the exclusive three packs from the USA ( I live in the UK ) i had all figure variants and chances , even had the sdcc death star REVENGE OF THE JEDI death star figure set with the super super rare mouse droid and salacious crumb on the mini cards ,they are numbered and part of the figure line ( I sold just those two for £650.00 ).
Sold both my razor crests and even sold my sail barge that I paid £1200 bloody quid for ( still made 300 on that )
I swore I was out for good , well in the last two weeks I've pre ordered everything to do with the roj 40th anniversary , the Mando jedi Knight luke ,and about 2 hours ago I ordered 4 of these bloody bikes , pre ordered the atst with chewie , I'm going to build one amazing endor battle scene ,that's it , I want the VC at -at , if anyone has one for sale pls message me , I can send the money immediately .
Mate! Such a shame you sold your collection. I feel your pain. I’ve started selling off a lot of my stuff and it makes me feel super sad inside. Star Wars toys are a decent investment though :)
Very well detailed review my friend! I actually like the thick cardstock and the efforts gone to for protection of the Biker Scout within the packaging! Its a nice looking vehicle which I may get if just for the action figure! Merry Christmas my friend!

We deserved a completely new mold after what….16-17 years? But I like the new head and that it’s at least available. I’ll prob never get it. Haven’t gotten any vintage collection in years. Love them, but the price is too high. So I just watch people like you enjoy them haha.
I see a Dremel, some modeling putty, paint matching and superglue in my future 😁
Great update weird they didn't update the hips considering we need him to sit on the bike. If ever a figure needed hip update its this!!
Thanks for the review Tim. Great looking vehicle. Definitely an improvement from the old school one. Don't thinks the price is very fair. It's being priced close to a hundred dollars here in Canada. I honestly don't think it should be worth more than the tantive playset. I can only imagine what the bunker will go for. Probably gonna pass on the bunker. I wanted 2 of these but at that price I'll be lucky to afford one. I'm already paying over $20 for the figures. I don't mind the price when the figures look so awesome, but this is getting a bit rediculous. TBH it may be time to start winding down on the collecting. It's been fun but the burden of scalpers and distribution has been getting a bit much. I have a pretty big collection as it is. There's probably only about a dozen more characters I would really feel necessary. Thanks again for the review
Another Canadian here, and I agree.
I stopped collecting earlier this year. Prices are ridiculous and scalpers just took the joy out of it. I don't have the luxury to go toy hunting in stores every day.
If something great comes out, I'll get it.
But for now, I'm done.

Wow! That was really thorough, nice job. I haven't seen the 2012 version so am excited to see the upcoming video for a comparison. Also, didn't know the helmet was a different size on previous versions, that Jedi Fallen Order bucket looks really odd, it's like his has 2 big ears sticking out the side.

I want one of these so bad. Actually, I want at least three of these so bad. Unfortunately they sold out before I even realised the preorder was up
Their official name has always been a scout trooper. The bikes slid out of the Turbo clone tanks which is where they evolved from. The were also in the at-at's to scout for them and the at-st. The at-st was the command observation vehicle for anti infantry, the at-at's were for sieges. Everyone downs on walkers but the at-at was designed to launch troops over the walls of a compound after the heavy guns softened it up.

When you have 3 of the Toys R Us version, I’m disappointed they didn’t knock this out the park.. I might entertain 1 of these to make a square army builder collection… definitely need that comparison. This should have been a home run!

Thanks for the great review Tim! Do you think the speeder bike color is a bit too dark of a brown? When I look at the scenes from the film I see slightly different shades but none of them look as dark as this to me. Most look like a much tanner brown to me, but maybe it’s just the lighting. What do you think with it in hand?
Regardless of faults, I am picking up at least one of these. I intend to pick up more if I can find them on sale so I can have a few just lazing around the Bunker set when I get that too for display.
Yea, giving how Hasbro cheapened out on us once again with this very inadequate bike there’s not much use to them other than parking them riderless next to the upcoming bunker, or having them lying around wrecked with dead Ewoks and Stormtroopers scattered about with an AT-ST roaming around. I’ll figure something out what to do with a few of them since it’s obviously not designed to be set up with an actual biker scout riding it. What a scam by Hasbro….🤦🏻♂️

Great review Tim…I feel like you’re alluding to possible conclusion on future bike comparison video… from what I’ve seen and heard, the ATST probably could have used the “new tooling $” that went into this all new bike.
Excited to get it nonetheless…it does confound though to look at the older sculpts..even with the partial new biker…like, how can someone at Hasbro try to pose things like you are here and think this is ideal? 🤷🏻♂️

I saw these at my local target and for what we are being offered, the price is beyond absurd! Lol, I love my power of the jedi scout troopers and I love the power of the force speeder bikes and included scout troopers. 10 dollars each on those, new in sealed box from all the local vintage stores around here!

Whereas the Vintage Collection has so many upsides, I ultimately went with Black Series because it had more Luke Skywalker options when I started. Seeing this review makes me glad I went this direction as I can get my Endor Leia and Luke to share one speeder bike significantly more comfortably than this. However, this one has nice callback artwork and I’d be tempted to get this TVC package if not for the price in Canada. I actually wish the BS version didn’t have pegs as they tend to make posing harder at that scale, especially for figures that don’t have front peg holes (Endor Luke).
Wish down the line they release the scout without the speeder , ain't got money to get this pack I love the scout troopers

Thank you for such an early review! 8:54 - 8:58 what is a weird paint omission by Hasbro is the lack of gray paint for the "helmet bolt caps" (the gray circle covers of the bolts the mask of the costume helmet pivots upon). The molding is clearly there, so why they didn't paint those circles gray is beyond me. Other than that, a very welcome new helmet mold!

For the price, this is not enough of an upgrade i wish i knew in advance they would've made this cost so much MORE, as well as not improve it nearly enough and as you said.. some places down graded it.
I would've brought more of the toys R us version and completely ignored this.
I think i'll ignore this completely maybe buy one if i have money but i expect this to go on clearance, Hasbro is soon going to have loads of stores complaining they can only move stock when its on special, certainly for vehicles.
do think the new helmet, and the removeable helmets with door playsets might be a gate way to ezra, maybe even a hint

Maybe a little hairdryer for the leg guards to bend them ever so slightly so he sits more proper? Great review, and have to agree with the rest that this is overpriced. They have skipped/removed/downgreaded the older version when they could have really improved upon it. Its 2022 dang it! Now I wonder if they might have done the same with the AT-ST and should I cancel my PO for it...

Well, I've got a full Lancer of the 2012 bikes. Looks like I won't be replacing them on first impressions!! Lol
A complete over haul on the bike & it's not an improvement from 10 years ago! The only thing better is they fixed the shoulder paint & new ankles. A complete waste of R & D. I just pre-ordered one, probably will cancel it after the full comparison video.
Eh, the Scout Trooper sculpt needs to be updated more for me to get it. Hands suitable for more weapon types and better articulation (especially on the arms/wrists)

Hasbro’s prices have gone insane. I encourage everyone not to buy this until it inevitably goes on sale for $30 or less. Stuff like this should be $25
After seeing this I’m hoping I can somehow get Endor Leia and Luke riding together on one of these to recreate the chase scene, but it doesn’t look possible. I was able to do that with the Black Series figures and bike and it looks awesome and really completes the scene. This one though might be more of a challenge getting two figures riding together, especially that Leia. Overall this looks very inadequate and uninspiring. Kinda disappointing there’s no articulation in the handle bars or feet rests, and no peg holes. We got ripped off again by Hasbro…🤦🏻♂️.
So this doesn't appear to be the definitive version still. Maybe one day Hasbro will figure it out. Maybe for the next generation, lol.

Let me help you clear up your confusion over the 40th anniversary logo. you said yourself that you got it early from overseas. Doesn’t it make sense that the logo is there for the year that it’s set to release. It takes some time to produce these sets so they have to build up their stock ahead of time. I hope this helps

I think when they expanded starwars it become scout trooper, as they would've been given more tasks than just riding bikes, the armour is designed to be easier to move in, and would be better to.. scout in.
I would like to see a release where he's given a shoulder rifle as well as the smaller blaster they do use sniper rifles in the EU, and there are loads of stormtrooper variants!
They were only ever colloquially referred to as "biker scouts". Officially, they've always been Imperial scout troopers but since I've always been well into Star Wars (not disney😖) and have a thing for bikes of the motor variety, they'll always be Biker Scouts to me.
