- Is the LEGO Technic BMW M1000 RR 42130 really worth $230? This set introduces a ton of brand new pieces, including some amazing shock absorbers. We even get an awesome 3 speed transmission! However, I still think that this lego technic motorcycle 2022 doesn't have enough to justify that price tag.

I’ve built nearly 130 Lego technic sets since 1981 when I was a kid .. this is one of the best technic sets I’ve ever built.. good job Lego! You have to see it in person when built.. this bike is massive in size!
Pros:
Transmission - awesome
Shock absorbers - awesome
Aesthetics - awesome
Wheels - awesome
Cons:
To overpriced - not awesome

3:47 I with 230 dollars would take the Land Rover Defender because it has 2573 parts and a 4-speed sequential gearbox with 3 differentials
On the rear shock absorber the spring is actually inside, and the blue one is only for aesthetics. Great review! I personally think the Ducati looks better, but that's just personal preference.
The blue spring is not just for aesthetics. It adds a little tiny bit of strength

So many new parts specific for this set makes it unmoc-able unless you buy at least 4 of them or so. Which is crazy.
between the bmw and ducati , i like the Ducati since its smaller , better for display , same functionality and cheaper . The BMW seems a bit oversized right now compared to other technique vehicles.

New to the Techic line, but got this set as i am a BMW Motorrad rider. I noticed you managed to motorize it in the video, what are the parts required to make this happen (ie which motor and parts)? Thanks for the awesome video.

8070 was an awesome set...the rear wing was honestly horrible, but the whole set was really super...looked like a sort of dodge viper, nice functions, motorized, awesome doors mechanism, suspensions, v8, awesome parts and panels donor, all for 100€ or so

I've been at the lego store today and saw this one for 170€
I didn't like the motorcycle at first but now I love it. But I just don't like it's price, man.
I find some minor cons major cons. First of all the sticker mayhem. It is unbearable. I think this would have worked with red and blue pieces too. Or did a non-M version. Who cares about red-blue-cyan?
Second problem is the chain. It is obnoxious. Chains on motorcycles are black. Even if they come brass colour from the factory, they are black after 3 rides. This is an easy fix and you can throw away the fugly chain pieces easily.
Third problem is the rims. Two issues with that. They are licensed thus non available in Bricks and Pieces, which is bad as many fill find they have 95% of parts and basically just need wheels and suspension bits to make this. Other wheel issue is that it should not have been licensed to begin with. The spokes are flimsy and ugly, giving the rim a cheap made-in-china like feel. The excellent tubes compensate a bit though, if you can get them on properly. It would have been better if this was a bigger variation of the classic technic rims as seen in earlier motor bikes.
I'm thinking this set costs that much because of all the new specialized pieces.

There is also another con with the LEGO Technic set. The LEGO Technic BMW M 1000 RR has missing mirrors. The real BMW M 1000 RR motorcycle has mirrors. 4:57

No one wants to use those mirrors. If it wasn’t illegal, everyone would take them off lol
Race bikes do not have mirrors. On the street version they are on for legal reasons only and are basically useless unless you want to look at your elbows.

No, its not worth it. As far as the functions are concerned, this set has everything the $70 Ducati has but costs a whopping $230. Considering the massive price increase, I would expect more technically advanced functions and a gearbox with a proper shifting sequence. I'm sorry LEGO, but this set is just big to be big, there is absolutely nothing special about this set except for the handful of new parts.
literally, the Ducati has all of the functions of this model in a smaller, more affordable package. Also, the Ducati is more playable, and robust, making it better for play or display. The fact you did not mention these flaws in your review is a problem for people considering buying the product. Great review anyways!

When were you last this happy about a Technic et? What are your top 3 Technic sets?
8043 is definitely number 1. Not sure about the next two. I like the cat d11 42131, the 42114, the 42129, the unimog u400, the arocs, and more.
8043 is always, easily number 1 for me. But sometimes i think the 42114 is second and other times i think the arocs is the second

101% defender...not only one of the most succeeded sets of the last years, but also a great parts donor, good for mocs, with a lot of already existing alternative models, nice aesthetic, functions and engineering, not heavily stickers dependent...and last but not least, "honest" price

The set is overpriced? I mean, it is a BMW, everything is overpriced. My dad had to order a used windshield fluid container once when he worked for the shop. It was around $600.

I would say overpriced and too many stickers, but that's only because I don't like most of the stickers... But really, Lego should fix for once its pricing system... I understand that they price it a little higher because of all the new pieces, but 200€ is still too high...
With 200€, I would buy the interesting parts ( rear shock absorber, wheel and tire, gold chain, brake disks ) in the right quantities ( at least 6 of each of them and many more for the chains ) and be happy with the rest to continue my MOCs...

A lot of money? Yes! Expensive? Not really. 1st it has a lot of parts and some brilliant new ones. In my country it costs €199,99. That means about 10,5ct per part. You will get at least €25 discount in stores. That makes you have to wait a few months but it's worth it. And even with the taxes off you get an even lower price. I'm one happy AFOl.
I wish lego Technic had better app instructions instead of just pdf lol 👎🏼
